    I bought my GH5 in part because of this short. I've seen the reviews, seen the footage, but nothing comes close to this (especially in the world of anamorphic adapters) I've had a proximar + helios combination for 3 years and never had the time patience or courage to work with it seriously. Well, it's getting broken in this summer thanks to you!!!!!! bravo on your amazing and inspiring work!

      Hey, if you are referring to the SLR Magic 35mm T2.4 2x Anamorphot-CINE Lens with m4/3 mount then a speedbooster wouldn't make any sense since you can't adapt m4/3 to a speedbooster. It's already an anamorphic prime.

  • @superblacknoise
    @superblacknoise Před 7 lety +1

    Amazing!
    Bringing down the sharpness has made a whole lot of difference
    as I find it extremely distracting in most GH5 footage.
    What is the ISO setting?
    Did you denoise at all in post?

    • @ichidomo
      @ichidomo  Před 7 lety +2

      No denoiser was used. I didn't go higher than 800 ISO to my surprise, a fair is pretty well lit, otherwise I would've overexposed the highlight background bokeh.
      -5 sharpness is recommended, looks more neutral, 0 still has digital sharpening to my eyes so with -5 you just turn it off.

    • @ichidomo
      @ichidomo  Před 7 lety

      I tried with the sigma 18-35 at 35mm on the speedbooster. There's some vignetting, but with the lossless x1.4 ETC crop it doesn't. So it is possible but unpractical. Have tested it with other 35mm but those were unboosted. Will do some further testing with different taking lenses.

I have a Kowa 8Z for example but as it's a dual-focus, it sat on the shelf a long time until the SLR Magic Rangefinder came out. Now, it's almost as good as an Iscorama. • @ichidomo
      @ichidomo  Před 5 lety

      I didn't cut the sides, in fact this is pure 4:3 desqueezed by a ratio if 2 resulting in a 2.66:1 ratio which is thinner than the 'official' 2.39:1 ratio.

    • @ichidomo
      @ichidomo  Před 6 lety

      Hey singamorphic, thank you so much. I've been following your instagram and love your content as well. The vibrating flare is because of the IBIS however when I shot this they didn't have IBIS calibrated yet for 2x anamorphic, they only added it later on with firmware updates and proper 2x stretch calibrated IBIS. Hope this helps.

      The sigma will produce a very nice image but you can't mimic the 2x stretch FOV. You can however mimic the anamorphic vertical strechted bokeh by having an oval cut-out in front of your glass or at the back. But the anamorphic look of 2 focal lenghts in 1 shot can't be recreated with spherical glass in 16:9.

    • @dayboyy1
      @dayboyy1 Před 7 lety +1

      ichidomo ichidomo thank you for the reply! I wasn't necessarily looking for the 2 focal lengths in one shot, I just wanted to achieve the wide angle and cinematic look. Also thanks for putting the music in the description cause it's been on repeat for like 3 days now lol

    @Roflmao0001 Před 7 lety

    My friend! I am in the midst of an internal battle between an a7sii and the GH5, I am heavily leaning towards the Panisonic however. What are you thoughts on using this in low light? A lot of your videos are shot in relatively dark areas so obviously it does pretty well, but I would love to know your thoughts!

    • @ichidomo
      @ichidomo  Před 6 lety

      +Joe O'Connor
      If you need to see in the dark aka 'nightvision' the sony will be better choice. The gh5 can deliver in dark scenes it's just not capable of 'nightvision', but neither are the higher end cine camera's like RED. It performs well in dark scenes as long as you know how to expose and know it's limits. So if you plan to film in dark caves with no light the sony will be better. In all other cases the gh5 outshines the sony in my opinion.

    How did you manage to mount the 8z? Did you use stepuprings or just a railclamp and no direct (thread) connection between the two lenses?

    I can't locate the 4k 50p pal anamorphic mode. It is only available in 24p 8,10 bit.

    great looking video. what focus settings did you use to keep it locked onto the girl as you were walking behind her?

      No focus settings were used. Everything is manual. You can't autofocus with this setup. Just keep track of the subject and guess the right distance.

    iso numbers pls? or u left it on auto maybe? do you remember your white balance settings?

      Most was around 800 ISO and some shots 1200, never use auto. The fairground was pretty well lit. Could have gone higher but then all the light would've been blown. Most people always look to 'look past the dark' and seem too obsessed with 'low light' I like to shoot the way my eyes see things.

    Nice vid! Did you use anamorphic lens or adapter?

    Looks amazing! What program did you use to edit this. When I import 50p 4K anamorphic footage from GH5 into Premiere Pro CC V12 it has a magenta green cast on it in the preview screen, it doesn't show on export. ibb.co/fiUmjx

    Does anyone know how this is playing back at slow motion when it's shot at 4k 50p and played back at 50p?

    • @ichidomo
      @ichidomo  Před 6 lety

      I slowed down the 50fps to 25fps within my timeline, but exported it at 50fps to get a higher and better compression bitrate for YT. I also could've uploaded it in 4k but back then I was experimenting with different upload techniques. Hope this explains it. ✌🏽

    I have the same setup and images are looking distorted, your seems to be scaled properly. When you bring into NLE what are you doing to desqueeze.

    Nice! How did you pull focus when you are using the Gimbal? I just upload a video, all handheld, check it out if you have time and let me know what you think.
