  • I recently got myself a Lensturbo II in EF mount I wanted to test. Since I own a Nikkor Metabones I was unable to boost my M42 lens collection. For this test I hooked up an EF to M42 adapter to the lensturbo and attached an anamorphic scope to a helios 44-2. Everything was shot wide open. Dual focus lens calibration could’ve been better to get even sharper results but that’s all in hindsight, hence this test. No real scripted story intended, we thought of it on the spot while shooting.
    All 25p footage was shot in 4k 10 bit All-i V-log at 400mbps, the slowmotion shots were at 50p in Cine-D. There’s one shot where I accidentally shot 4k 50p 8 bit V-log, can you tell which one? ;)
    V-Log correction LUT - Leeming LUT One V-Log to rec709
    Graded in Premiere Pro with Lumetri
    Music: Kettel - Memory Steps
    Thanks to YoYo The Hague for letting me film inside their shop.

    Wow. Itchidomo, it's hard watching your videos because every time I talk myself out of anamorphic you produce these beautiful imagaes and I'm back where I began, wanting an anamorphic lens. Cheers brother.

    I love your work ! Watched all your videos. Always amazing.
    My impression, kowa is more useful for the wide shots, sankor a bit pale. But isco is like magic! Very filmic. Wondering, which one to your liking gives the best looking footage with GH5?
    Did you decide to keep the Isco fixed-focused or modded to infinity? Thanks!

    This is probably part of the top 3 footage I've seen done with the GH5.. and Ive watched a lot!
    Probably the closest I've seen a GH5 get to a very expensive cinema camera. Movie like color grading.
    I know this is definitely because of the many things you have mentionned but wondering what has the most weight in making this so amazing..
    The VLOG? I'm using natural profile.
    The lens itself? Amazing bokeh indeed
    Or the 400mbs?

    Great little video you got here, once again showing what this beast of a camera (GH5) can do if used well. This Isco-Gottingen Animex lens looks great too. It retains a lot of sharpness as well. Also, were you using the Defy g2X gimbal for this one as well?

    Love your videos! I am madly in love with the anamophic look, especially something like the Kowa 8Z. I would like to get a anamophic lens for a Sony a7r III, any recommendations? Would be great if it isn't Uber-complicated to focus. Are there any 1.33x anamorphic lenses? Thanks for the help!

      @ichidomo  Před 5 lety

      Haha thanks. You have no idea how many times I've been asked to do just that. I thought about for a brief moment but came to the conclusion I would suck doing YT tutorials unless they are visually interesting, and tuning lenses is far from interesting visual material. Maybe one day I will, for now it's not my priority. Did you check Tito Ferradans channel, he does quite a lot of mods.

    I love your videos!
    I have a gh4 with an elmoscope ii and a speedbooster.
    I do not know which lens to buy ...
    if I should take advantage of the metabones
    and buy a canon 85 mm or the famous helios and some Chinese adapter for giving some examples.
    What would you recommend?
    I would greatly appreciate your response,
    see you later!

    • @ichidomo
      @ichidomo  Před 6 lety

      +Mariano Mellert
      Hey Mariano, thank you for watching.
      I don't have the canon 85 so can't say anything about other than you'll have to take into account that the gh4 4:3 mode will have an additional crop. I like to have the possibility to go as wide as possible with anamorphics. With the crop and a 85mm it's going to be tight, though you can isolate more. The helios is cheap but also comes with a caveat, I have 4 of them and they all vary in contrast and sharpness. So it's a hit and miss with the helios. But since these are cheap you can always give it a go. Goodluck hunting, and congrats with the elmoscope ii, lovely piece of glass!

    • @ichidomo
      @ichidomo  Před 6 lety +1

      I used a gimbal, defy g2x hig-end pre-calibrated gimbal from a few years back, it's not in production anymore but still serves me good. Used a Ronin once but doesn't even come close in terms of setting up, weight handling and follow sensitivity .

    • @PaulHarwood856
      @PaulHarwood856 Před 6 lety

      Hey ichidomo,
      Alright awesome! Thanks for the quick reply by the way. That's good to know about the Ronin. If I were to go that route, I would probably save more for a Movi since it's lighter, however I believe there is a vest that can work with the Ronin with an adapter piece. Have you tried the Zhiyun Crane 2? I'm personally using a Came TV gimbal with no electronics and a Flycam vest with a double arm and am really happy with it.

    So with a metabones in ef mount if you put a EF to m42 adapter in front you still get the benefits of the speed booster like an
    extra stop of light ?

    • @ichidomo
      @ichidomo  Před 6 lety

      Andre Llewellyn
      Yes, it's just stacking adapters. In EF mount you can virtually adapt any mount since EF has a relative short flange distance. Nikon has the largest flange distance (distance from mount to sensor) hence I wasn't able to speedboost any other mounts before.
