Client: youâre too expensive! I could go on holiday for that money. Response: Ok, let me know if you need anything when you get back.
Or tell them "Sure, you can go on a holiday... or you can invest on good design for the future of your business AND go on a holiday after making more money".
Or you can ask them which would provide more value to them, and if the vacation would provide more value, then tell them to go with it, otherwise...
"I have printed it out, but the animated GIF is not moving?"
LUKAS DG âtry tapping the paperâ
Haha
LMAO wow
Saddest part is these people sometimes run important companies... go figure...
OMG. That's horrible.
One client once told me that the price is expensive for that design, so he asked me to reduce some of the design elements then he said.. how much now ? LOL XD
OMG! haha...
Design salad
What the Fuck Lol ,price moved up just now.
Design pizza. Just take off a couple toppings.
What did you tell your client?
"Whether you think you can or can't, you're right." So true.
i can.
Yes, we can.
Again, thank you for creating these videos. Best work on CZcams. I found out about you from a friend Danny Yount.
Sending warmest regards.
"There are a few changes I want to make to the website. I've showed it to my son and these are his recommendations"
đ
Ouch
"He's used Wix, he knows web" lol
Relatableđđđđđ
I can feel it đ
Here's just one (of many!) from my career:
Client: "We have a few more little changes."
Me: "We're going to miss the printer's deadline. Your CEO signed the document off this morning. Those changes will take about 4 hours and will cost X amount."
Client: "Can't you just press a magic button? The software is really advanced these days isn't it?"
The footage from the workshop is pure gold. Thank you so much for making this type of extremely valuable content accessible to everyone!
you bet! we had fun doing the workshop so i'm glad you enjoyed it.
"I don't like this, I want something professional"
What do you consider professional? a hard and complicated logo(whatever the conversation is about)? I am sorry >< I just cant help it.
âArt of zenâ best thing i learnt today.
"we are doing you a favor by giving you a job" xD
You should say "ok boomer"
:( been said to me too
yikes... that's a toxic client right there
You say "see ya bitches!" and take your talent and your Self out the door!
Always know your worth!
đđđ„
" You know, this job will help you get more business. It can showcase your skill. ."
Wish they teach about energy in art schools.
And by the way, Chris, I was looking at your sneakers the whole time XD
Lol.
client: you are so expensive
me: *pulls out trap card đ*
lol.
"We like it, just change the background to black please"
1:02 when the client says : the project bubget is 50$
Then theyâre not a client. Theyâre just someone looking for a nonprofessional.
Your Damn relatives all ways do that.
They are not clients, they are family...
Iâm absolutely loving the variety of formats, these short micro-laser focused topics are completely on point. I missed you guys when you where down in south FL.
Please keep these quick - focus topic - conversations coming.
Iâm going to need to sign up for this one. Thanks DO!
thanks for the feedback Jerry.
I've definitely had the 'my wife did not like it' response before. And the 'I can do the same in Microsoft Word' response. Brilliant video! Some great advise to young designers in dealing with criticism.
By the way, you're in my former home. Barcelona is absolutely gorgeous. And please, if you can, visit San Juan de la Peña. The Pyrenees are stunning!
One day we will come.
I became dependent of this content, no doubt. I check for new videos almost everyday. And I watch them all no matter what.
I sometimes wish I could work for you guys or appear on the channel lol. But honestly I am not that good of a designer yet. Anyways, keep it up! And thanks for sharing!
Two years later, howâre things going?
Yeah. Did this work out ?
I would love to hear as well đâ€ïž
Loving the effort put into the video, different shots, sceneries...As always great content!
thanks for noticing.
Love your videos Chris. You are such an inspiration. God bless.
Thank you.
This is awesome! I can hardly wait to see more of it. Hope you had a blast in Barca! I was there for a Joomla! conference a couple years ago and just loved the city.
Fantastic to finally see the Madrid video. It was great to hangout with you guys for a short while!
You are a fun bunch.
Hi James. It was great meeting you guys -good discussion.
Just awesome content. Loved the broll too, well done
God who knew your videos could get even better
Chris, you're such an inspiration, you never ever seize to amaze me. Truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. You're doing powerful and important things.
thanks Spencer. we keep growing. we'll take you with us man.
I'd love that.
This happened yesterday,I am an illustrator, currently working on a "big" project, a client agreed to pay 50% upfront and after two months of missing the deadline for the payment, when I confronted them calmly and politely they got angry with me and deleted my name from the official site of the project and told me that they will contact me in two months. Even after all the compliments in countless e-mails they gave me for my work. This was sadly a first project for me that would pay really well and I'm sad and disappointed. Gotta pick up on red flags earlier.
Damn this soundtrack is poppin
Love this! I learn so much from this channel. I hope to meet the amazing people that make up this show someday. Good vibes your way from Philippines đ”đ
Hi Jamie. See you in the Philippines.
Zen. This is soooooo brilliant. Amazing !
Awesome!! Im so excited to get more info on Objection Response. I look forward to that video.
the course is now available. check the show notes.
You're B Roll is looking AWESOME! Great Content guys, FAB!
Thanks!
Awesome stuff Chris! These videos are packed with so much knowledge! The problem we are having at the moment, as an agency is client numbers. It seems like they have dried up a little, just wondering if you have any tips to expand a new design agencies reach? Thanks!
spot on. the simplest truths are the hardest to grasp and use for the young mind ....
I absolutely love your videos. This one in particular cause I deal with a lot of difficult entitled clients.
Hey Chris Do, love this format. I would love to see more content coming from you while travelling and showing us different cultures and perspectives and some great scenery. Makes learning so much more fun!
We will try to make more but logistics are a challenge.
Cheers, looking forward. I'd gladly help carrying stuff, haha! ;)
This is great! Thank you! I tend to get defensive of my work especially when I know its good and done correctly. This will help me tremendously.
awesome
Really cool watching your video style develop.
I'm excited to hear more about this proto exercise, sounds extremely useful and versatile. That seemed like an awesome workshop also, loved hearing about neutralizing the energy, I'm all for that.
Iâll add a link to the academy site for you.

Oh yeah!! Super anticipating the Objection Deck! Great Vlog guys!!!
Thank you.

Love this. Can't wait.
Itâs available now - academy.thefutur.com/p/overcoming-sales-objections
Great Video...
Thank you for sharing
Love it that Chris properly engages his comments. I really think you're a genuine hard worker
Awesome vid. I love the idea of the respone deck !
This is dope Chris. Really helpful in bringing the negative energy down. Do you, by any chance, have ways on how to deal with manipulative bosses?
Iâd treat them like a client. I believe the principles apply.
Outstanding video and message all the way around! And not to diminish the importance of your overall message - I have to ask - what is the cool backpack Chris is wearing??
it's a Tumi backpack.
Looking forward to the objection deck!
Itâs available now on the academy.thefutur.com
Bravo!!!!...empathy and compassion toward the clients....when we do what we love and we are very passionate we can offer not just a service, but we are there to listen, and as we do that, we can learn so much from them, we become aware of who they are and what they need, is not so much to practice what to say but to become aware of the moment and to listen, whatever they are projecting in their objections has a lot to do with how they perceive our services through past experiences or competitive mentality...we are here to create, not to compete!..., we can clarify with authenticity and confidence that we want the best for them at the en of the day. Every designer offers a very unique way of doing the job and we must understand also that not every person is going to like our style, price or way of doing things, and that is ok....i love doing the very best for my clients, but my version of the very best it's not their version of best...being neutral to me means accepting that not everyone has to like or accept what we do and we simply move on...we should never act desperate to get the job and focus more on the most effective way to solve problems instead.....thank you again for sharing your expertise and time with us!...very much appreciated! :)
Loved this comment. And got something really interesting and valuable to learn as well. Thank you for sharing your perspective here. I find your perspective really wise. I also got to remind myself of a few things too from your comment. Thanks đ
Filming in 25 fps and client starts asking for super slowmotion after we shot a scene. Client: âYour editing software sounds very limiting. I can do it in iMovie for you.â *instantly triggered*
Hahaha it hates when they never tell u they want super slow mo during shoot..
If they say they can do it in imovie
Then tell them to do it...may be they could do better hahahah
Gosh! Thereâs so much to learn! Daalu!
that's what makes life worth living. more to learn. more to grow.
Aaron and Mark's footage is getting very nice!
Yes. I agree.
Blauw Films, Thanks!
Thank you so much for shraring.
Would love to see a show with a Maroto Bambino, his work is so good!
He is!
Awesome video. Has loads to learn. How do you handle client who want quality product cheaply. Like on freelance sites they place cheapest package and expect you to do miracles for them. How you handle them?
This video is hot ... Love the b-roll
(:50s - 1:50s) and the audio ... The hero shot @1:01 ... Very nice.
thanks!
A bride once told me, "I can't begin to tell you what I'm gonna do you if those pictures don't come out right". I told her, "they're not going to be good pictures because you're not good looking".
Yikes!
The Futur đ
Man this video was amazing
thanks Ash!
Be Zen! control the energy! love it!
Hello #Chris! It's always an amazing experience watching your videos, listening to you & gaining wealth of knowledge and experience, get to meet so many beautiful and enlightened individuals via online, etc .. awesome.. I truly feel adventurous, plus every time it gives me a new boost, a fresh lease of life, an entirely new excitement and I feel motivated thoroughly..!! I love travelling, meeting new people, different cultures, breathtaking architecture, wonders of the world, scenaries, landscapes and I wanna implement those experiences in my creative work, I genuinely wish I were there w/you and in your team..!
see you at the next one. cheers.
Hey, i am so selfish , trust me i am not gonna share this channel with anyone else, i know its so good that it will definitely increase my competitors !!
hahah. don't be selfish. share. good things will happen if you do.
Will do for sure, its hard though but will do, thank you for the reply - also I was planning to ask something but never found the perfect question to do so but now I have and I guess almost every designer might be facing it. The question is How to get clients for a longer period of time? For example, I am from India and I am sr. interactive designer in an IT firm, so as an IT firm we mainly provide custom web apps to clients for which they pay us on monthly bases around $1,000 , so what are some quality services I can offer to reach that level, Luckily its just been around 10 months I am designing and special thanks to your channel I now have 40+ Clients but as in long-term what service can I provide ?? I thought of social media marketing and did that for a few clients but again I think its fluctuating, I want to provide some value to them for a long period of time. Kindly suggest. Thank you for your time :)
do something that makes a difference in the client's mind. when you do, you will win more business from them.
First reaction: Thumbnail reminds me of Star Wars: The Last Jedi lol
Great content.
soundtrack at @8:10 is amazing
Appreciate it
@@thefutur name of it? by any chance?
I love watching Chris and Aaron itâs like a reality show
it's real alright.
Really amazing, i really like all the videos. I think i'm learning a lot.
Madrid and Barcelona seen like mind blowing cities. One day i'll be in one of those talks.
I wish you all the best.
Take care and keep it up with this beautiful work.
i try to make it easy and will travel to you. you just have to show up when i do.
this is a hot topic and should blow up! i think it will go viral based the topic alone....and i haven't even watched it yet.
I donât know why either.
@@thefutur oops I meant to post comment this on the Livestream today about finding your superpower.
Now I really need to read that book! (*searches "Win Without Pitching Manifesto by Blair Enns" on Amazon*)
It'll change your life, promise!
Link in description
The relationship stuff really reminds me a lot of the DBT therapy way of dealing with relationships.
Tony Hawk ain't slick! 2:00
Oh man! Madrid is my city!
I wish I know you for more than 2 months so I could have gone to the workshop đą
awesome! as well as the video :)
Send em a few design samples before I place and order
Where is this objection deck??!! Are you guys holding back on me!?!? Lol
Itâs hidden in plain sight in the overcoming sales objections class.
Make the objection response deck a tangible product ASAP! I would buy it
Itâs done. Check the notes.
Arron and Chris Europe tour is finally happening!!!
Happened.
The best comment I ever got, was from a businessman who asked me to design a logo for his hotel in Croatia.
"What? Your price is 2500 euros? I... I... I... I don't understand."
We didn't work of course and I heard he's still confused til this day đ
----
a few months later he puts a logo on the new hotel which includes:
a palm tree, sun, sea waves, jacht, two different serif fonts and about 4-5 colors I think...
Imagine working with him đ„đ
You dodged a Bullet
The Futur indeed
I feel like Chris can guide a meditation! Art of zen. Love it!
I can try. Even though Iâve not been trained.
"Whether you think you can....
I love what u do guys and always watch your videos.
I'm learning graphic design almost a year now. Today there are a lot of good staff on the internet...
Is it possible to get at the same level as behance designers, learning from the internet source only?
If u are hard working person of course.
100 percent.
Oh God!!! "You have hurt my company" That hurt even up to this day...
Is that what your clients are saying?
The Futur this is what a client said back in 2013. Normally my clients are 98% happy with my work... But I am going much harder with learning more.
there always be one person who be like "princess"
I want to know what bag pack that is, Chris! looks dope!
it's from Tumi's line Alpha Bravo. I bought it on sale 40% off otherwise it retails for $425.

Aaron ,, u were right ,, these videos rock ,, Sorri Chris u Gotta let these keep coming ,,
why is Aaron right? are you referring to the cab ride? that was about him being late.
I am talking about when Aaron suggested the videos (blog style) ,, nd u told him they take much time and effort ,,
nd he can't cope with all the stuff he has to get done ,,,
Shooting in Europe was not his idea. He was shooting some voyeuristic videos at the office. Those werenât connecting. They didnât deliver much value except for a laugh from time to time.
But we are all figuring out a balance between entertainment, education and inspiration.
1st of all thnx for always taking time to reply ,, u guys are just awesome ,,,
that makes sense now ,, progress is in the process ,,,, much luv
can't wait to see how it will be refined.
Itâs done. Check it. academy.thefutur.com/p/overcoming-sales-objections
Itâs sooo weird to see my city in one of your videos đ sad I live in CA now
Madrid was super cool. up next? Barcelona.
Please guys upload the Barcelona video Vlog when you have it done! I could not go to the event unfortunately :(
Thatâs on our list.
Aaron's lookin good!
Recently after submitting a website project I pitched SEO. The client was receptive but when it came to budget he offered an eighth of what I had proposed and went on to say that was a 'soft-skill'.
nice video i love it it seems to me i am with you all ... wow
Aaron is me! lol Great vlog and very valuable info
thanks! you are the female Aaron?
The Futur gotta have my breakfast and also, record everything đ
Hey, great video, thank you! Could you tell me what is the name of the song, which is started at 6:02
To this day, I still wonder the same
This is cool. đ
Im working in organization dealing with internal clients. How do you deal with clients who tries to delay your project. for example 6 weeks becomes 20 weeks. usually because they are busy and cant commit with the timeframe.
Ireland ?? I didn't know you were here... damn
yes. there's a video on that trip too.
Any chance you guys have planned a trip to France ? Would love to be able to take part in a workshop about the business of design. I have been following the channel for about a year now (great content!). In French culture, money is a not really a subject that people are comfortable talking about (business or personal). I'm not sure if your wisdom/tips/tricks would necessarily work here. It would be really interesting for Chris to try out his techniques on this type of audience. BTW I'm a British designer living and working in France. Feel free to contact me as I think I could help you setup an event if you're interested !
if you know of 20 people (or more) who'd be willing to dish out $500/ea to do a business workshop with me, i'll be on the first plane to paris. i love paris!
I'll see what I can do and will keep you posted. Thanks for being upfront about the price ! (you're gonna have to cut me in with some commission if this all comes to fruition đ).Keep up the great content in the mean time. Cheers !
"Why do you have so many hours on this project?!" On a weeks long project with 10 hour days. We upcharged him 500 extra in direct material and provision costs which normally get calculated over the hourly salary this was a trade-off for having 10 hours less on paper.
Smart quotes
8:40 Chris casually bumps into Michael Bierut like no big deal...
Jk... but this guy looks exactly like him.
My client said "It couldn't take that much time" didn't pay the last part and called the rest of the Paypal invoices back. Yes. You can do that.
You can fight disputes on PayPal.
this guy is really smart
I see.. I see..Y'all are upping the production game huh?
we try to as often as possible.
Chris, when you quote Blair Ennis you say to bring the objection up front. Is that meaning - to say the objection before they do? - or more like just being aware of possible objections and how to respond to them so we are not caught off guard then defensive. That's what it sounds like to me
Great vid btw. Nice job Aaron and other dudes there
Yeah. Bring it up first. Read the book David.
But if you don't care about the project, why even start the project? For the cash?
You have be indifferent about the results of new Business. Then you can be emotionally neutral.
Doesn't that hinder your creativeness? +The Futur
Hey #Chris! I wanted to ask you, whether you have a podcast, if so, please lemme know, waiting eagerly, thanks!!
yes. of course we do. check the show notes much?
The Futur on itunes, stitcher, google play and sound cloud. just search and you will find.
The Futur Awesome! Thanks so much đđ»
I imagine this was an closed door- event because if I had known that Chris was coming to Madrid I would not have hesitated to go even if I needed to ask for a loan.
Hope you, Ben and Matthew can come someday.
we had a European tour a couple years back and went to: Milan, Madrid, Barcelona and the UK.
The Futur letâs hope that the current situation changes soon and that the tours return. It's amazing how you are teaching and helping so many people from different parts of the world.
