That's Trump's MO: Lose in court, keep appealing until the other side (small contractors) runs out of money & gives up, or the other side (government) wins, but it's so long since the original trial that it gets little if any mention in the media. And now it's keep dragging this out until after the election, in case you win & can squash the cases. And the SCOTUS he packed is now part of his foot-dragging. The American legal system needs a schedule or something so rich defendants can't pull this stuff.

Most of the court belongs to a society that is very Authoritarian.
Politics in the Judicial branch are different to the Legislative branch, fewer elections for example, so they have different political groups. Some of these groups believe in things like Precedent, while others believe in things like Originalism. Some of these groups believe in a weaker Federal and State government, while others believe in... well, more Authoritarian views. Some will argue parts of the Constitution are meaningless, poor 9th Amendment being the most abused, while some of them have a deeper respect for the document.
This is why the 1960-1970 Supreme Court gave us the likes of Roe vs Wade.
This is why the 2020 Supreme Court overturned it in Dobbs v. Jackson.
Mitch McConnel knew what he was doing when he stacked the courts over the last 20 years, especially the Supreme Court. If you look at what organizations his choices came from, they share the same societies for a reason. Those societies are the political parties of the Judicial Branch and Mitch was aligning the Republican party along side one of the most Authoritarian societies.
The Federalist Society now has the majority.
So how could they not hear a case as powerful as this?
They can change the whole course of the government with this!
Might even destroy the softer societies with this move, such as those that gave us the 1960-1970 decisions. This is also why they are hitting the other 9th Amendment cases hard, publicly salivating at the chance to overturn them as well. They hope to get rid of the 'rot' that led to a Supreme Court that believed in such a silly thing as... privacy and reproduction rights.

      Govt by People's Referenda:
Peaceful Occupation of our Capitals until it's installed, or run Mascot Candidates
Single Issue Referendums with thresholds and a social contract means Communities can vote their own laws.
A Public Authority can audit police and prosecute bad cops in our own courts.
Nationalise resources and give Indigenous peoples the right of Sovereignty over them as Guardians.
This can be achieved through a General Strike or Velvet Revolution, much like the Occupy movement, peacefully occupying State Buildings until a People's Mandate can be implemented.
With the appropriate checks and balances, you could have a national digital forum where qualified professionals can debate the issues in a public setting without all the disinformation and bad faith antics, hatespeech etc.
Any vote would need to pass the 70% threshold, with a veto or _rewrite_ vote needing 30%.
The issues would be debated, the public educated, and then a vote taken. Votes that fail will have to wait a year before trying again. Any new proposal (Citizen Initiated Referendum) would have to reach a threshold of support before it made it onto the register. This would be subject to a Social Contract (New Constitution) that forbids human rights abuses and discrimination.
That can be written in the same manner based on the core principles we all share. Councils and Boards could operate in the same fashion at Scale.
It works in a way that obligates people to better educate themselves ( that is to use logic and evidence in their reasoning ) for a better understanding of the issues, and then take collective responsibility for the outcomes. As opposed to the divisive US v them scapegoating and bi-partisan finger pointing the current Capitalist Pyramid Scheme runs on.
We need Government by People's Referenda, either through Mascot Candidates or Peaceful Occupation of the Capitals until one is established.

Here is an interesting question that should be asked of the Supreme Court: Suppose the Supreme Court grants absolute immunity to a president, and the president (e.g., Joe Biden) thinks the Supreme Court's decision in this immunity case is unconstitutional and decides to have the justices who voted for immunity killed in order to save democracy, in his view. Should this president get away with it? I bet the Supreme Court would cry out loud: No, a president should not be allowed to get away with such a decision with impunity.
Wanting to guarantee absolute immunity to a president is absurd and undemocratic.

0:43 wow. that would be utterly humiliating for Bill Barr, except if he was capable of feeling shame, he wouldn't have endorsed him again to begin with

This is the classic trying to pass a law to make former actions/crimes legal. Which is unconstitutional. No if's, and's, or buts. No quips, qualms, or quarrels.

How do I put this delicately? Perhaps the former criminal-in-chief shouldn't be arguing the case that the President (as I recall, currently one Joseph R. Biden) can eliminate political rivals that are a threat to America (quite literally one Donald J. Trump).

personally, i wouldent stop there. i'd take out the problems on the SCOTUS, then ask the justice department to bring a case to reverse the immunity decision.... after filling the bench with qualified and ethical justices.
and if the house wanted to try to impeach before it goes through, well, a few more threats to national security would have to be eliminated.
then, once immunity is striken, i'd step down and request to be tried for my crimes. after all that, i know i'd have to personally demonstrate that presidents are not above the law.
