I JUST got the Tombow Mono retractable eraser from you a couple of weeks ago! It's exactly what I was looking for!
I've wowed people with the 28-corner eraser before; I've even shown it on stream before. Since when are they available in colors?! Also, what's the little eraser-shaving grabber on wheels at the end there? I want THAT!

When my grandma passed, we found a wired electric eraser. No idea why she had it, and it was too faded to read the company or the year. Still was a funny find!
...who's going to tell them?
In the 1960s-70s, we used a motorized eraser on catalog cards in the library when changes in call number or spelling corrections were needed on the typewriter-created cards - very gritty eraser compared to those in this video. You could erase for several cards before you had to unplug the eraser & let the motor cool down enough to hold it!
@@katymanckmls5798 I'm old enough to remember catalog cards. Thank you for posting about this.
hUuuuUH?
@@ArtemisNYC 😂😂😂
This is actually the first vid in the overengineered series wherein the overengineering simply improves the product and is actually well planned.
So it's not over engineered but rather well engineered right?
@@adil0028 yeah but we don't really need it
@@raider7790 you don't. I definitely need the 6 sided eraser
@@raider7790 Become an artist and you will regret ever saying that.
@@nowshinnower3144 yeah!
As an artist who makes a lot of mistakes, thank you so much for this. When I saw the video I thought “oh, what the hell, it’s 4 minutes and I’m looking for a new eraser since my current one’s wearing out anyway,” and I’m so glad I did. Some of these look like they were tailored specifically for me. I know they aren’t, but still. Finally, no more accidentally erasing half the face because I decided the shine in the eyes should be in a different place.
@@ChorizoFungis tell that to the millions of subscribers to CZcams art channels
@@ChorizoFungis no offense, but being an artist is a job. It has been for centuries, look at michael angelo, francis bacon, and da vinci. Nowadays its anime, mangas, and digital art comissions. Animation is also art, so disney cartoons and vfx is art.
@@ChorizoFungis I'm a biomedical scientist. Why don't you get a constructive hobby?
@@ChorizoFungis it is actually, a lot of things are considered art
@@ChorizoFungis it literally is
As an artist, the tombow mono is a fantastic eraser. And an electric eraser is a handy tool, though I have a different one than was in the video.
I was looking for this comment! A lot of these just seem to be for artists! I don’t own an electric eraser, but I do own two kneaded erasers, and those are also pretty weird, especially considering it’s very hard to get them to erase fully, if you don’t know what they’re for! I used to think electric erasers were stupid because I would see my friends erasing their notes with them, and I’d think, “why use a battery? Just learn how to erase lighter, or buy better pencil lead” but then a friend that did traditional art used it to accurately and completely erase a precise area of a sketch with no smudge marks and I was like :O
it made so much sense
I love these little tools! :)
i have been using the mono tombow for years, it's great! when I first got it I was so mesmerized by the smoothness of it that I just kept drawing random stuff and erasing all of it for fun and satisfaction LOL
@@dropstick Don't ask too long.
@@KebithanMirhyom what?
tombow mono eraser is actually really common in my college (architecture), everyone seems to like being able to erase drawings more accurately
I was hoping someone would say this. I'm an architecture student too
i used it so much, have to buy it again, it’s a really good product for technical design
Now heres my people
I was a fine arts student and how I wish I had this. It would've saved a couple of my plates from those red circles. 🥲
It's clean af.. I used it for merely drawing and I can't live without it
I love how Japan makes everything extra
I mean few of these geraman companys do to
They have canned bread
I swear it feels as if the Japanese are always a step ahead when it comes to pretty much everything (engineering, solutions to everyday problems, my god you name it xD)
They add a little ✨spice ✨
I kinda realise this fact since the creation of Doraemon franchise. Just look at the myriads of stuff he introduced to Nobita to help him.
I got the first eraser with lots of corners in a Japanese stationery subscription box and I love it so much!
can you tell me what's the name of the subscription box
@@2hot1 Hello! I got the one from ZenPop :)
@@2hot1 InkuCrate looks nice too. 👀 Just saw it while Googling the other one. 😅
@@kaochibi THANKS!!
@@2hot1 which one is it?
It really sends a message when you attach an eraser to a notebook instead of a pen.
"I'd rather be mistake free than have anything in my notebook at all"
I love motorized erasers. Make sure you pick up a metal eraser shield, too - it lets you erase single lines and dots without messing up the rest of your work.
I've a few eraser shields now, they're brilliant. Also use painters tape, I cut it very thin and draw over it - once removed makes perfect white whiskers 😊
4:04 I know this video is about erasers but could someone tell me what that cleaning eraser dust thingy is called 😔
As an artist that works a lot with charcoal and graphite, the tombow mono zero and motorized erasers are like water to me, can't live without em lol
woah that transparent one blew my mind..never saw that before
I love the "over engineered" series, keep it up!
3:02 what youre here for
The Tombow mono eraser is incredible for old skool gaming and lettering, and also anyone who is learning a pictograph based language. I love it so much!
It’s also fantastic for artists-sometimes you just need to make a really precise adjustment.
@@rixatrix there are also these wooden ones that instead of being filled with pencil lead, they're filled with eraser and you can keep sharpening it with a pencil sharpener
One sometimes forgets that erasers are also important for marvelous and balanced creative results
Explain to me how an eraser helps with... old skool gaming.
Stat tracking, character sketching
As an artist whose art is mostly based on sketches all of these erasers are on my shopping list now
I've always preferred a kneaded gum eraser. It's whatever shape you want it to be.
So glad I’m not the only one with an eraser obsession. 😊😂
Your not 😂😂😂
2:10 I promise y’all these are the freaking BEST
I have used these best for sketches
I own half of these. Marvelous tools for specific tasks.
Thank you so much for actually putting the brand names, I’ve already got the tombow one but I’m always looking for new erasers as an artist
I love this video LOL the voice/infomercial style and it’s about stationary! I will gladly watch all the overengineered videos!
Erasers with extra corners is a genius idea!!
1:23 I really want to eat those
Oh, if only had that these extra super tiny corner erasers...how many good normal erasers would be saved to be cut in tiny slicers for do my extra details in my draws.
And, about the overengineering...the only thing really over the top here are the erasers names. XD
Mr. Narrator is back!! 🥰
These are very interesting and some are quite amazing and ingenious! The one with all the corners is a bit weird but I love the one that has two type of erasers in one that slides back and forth for use of each part.
1:02 we actually have a couple of these in my drawing and painting class ^^! they’re really helpful to get fine erasing through layered on graphite and charcoal!
I have one of the clear erasers with the blue label! Its works so well as someone who draws, it gets rid of pencil marks then a regular eraser in my opinion
I’m obsessed with the tombow mono zero erasers, game changer on my journal spreads.
I finally understand the Sumo Grip one now. I kept wondering what it was meant to do, but now I see it's motorized for spinning.
Oh my, i'm an architecture student and i always use mono zero for doing my assignments, i didn't realize how cool the design actually was, thanks!
We used to own a clear eraser like the one shown( but not the same brand) and it yellowed quite oddly. I don’t know if it was the quality but it was sad for sure. Worked pretty well though.
I've never seen a clear eraser before, that's incredible
Each of these are amazingly useful in the right setting
My fave is the Uni SuperEraser pencil. It’s so smooth, and I love the peelable design. I also have the Mono tiny round eraser for artwork.
Excellent video. I'm thinking of ordering some for myself and some for my art class teacher as a gift for her. She seems to appreciate unique gadgets.
2:55 my school will 100% think it’s a vape 💀
I have the Tombow Mono Retractable in the round shape, and I LOVE it!
Dude the motorized eraser is probably my favorite. Especially if you can use a smaller eraser bit. It just makes it so easy to erase precisely where you want to
I just love over engineered stuff it’s just great when an engineer goes buck wild on a design that doesn’t need to be that complex it’s so much fun
I use retractable erasers that are refillable all the time. Mine are about the size of a standard gel pen. Both the bodies and the refills come in multiple colors for fun customization.
as an artist i love the endless corner eraser, i need one right now
Neat little dust scoop at the end
2:45 that's what she said
I always love your blooper parts
i know I've hit rock bottom when i find myself actually invested in stuff like this and considering the pros and cons without even realizing. but like this dude IS SO ENTERTAINING. i think it's his voice
I've been using Tombow Mono erasers for a couple of years and it never disappoints me
I think a simple mono eraser is still just amazing if you take basic care of it
I've been using an arch foam eraser which is pretty good, but I see a couple I want to try.
I Love this channel! Many things i definitely dont need but i want!
I have personally owned ALL the erasers....
just because its a cool flex... 😅
I cannot reccomend enough the smaller mono eraser if you are an artist. It’s like a pencil that draws in paper color instead of gray.
I did a whole session in my figure drawing class where the professor had us cover a whole sheet in charcoal and then use a pen style eraser to draw in the black field. It's really an exercise every artist should try at least once!
I've seen clear rubbers before but they're usually the kind from gift shops at museums which are better to keep as souvenirs and not used because they smear the graphite terribly. That clear rubber actually seems to rub out well. And the pink ones are always gritty and terrible quality too. Tear up the paper. I just buy cheap white rectwngle ones from WH Smiths when I need a new one and always use them to make a thin wedge at the end so I'm thinking that one of the rectangular pen ones would suit me well.
I have used the clear erasers in the past and very good. But so difficult to find in retail chains. Pink errasers of course where a standard for school and every where you needed it. Now for art there are several erasers to consider. I love the Tombrow erasers abit pricey but if you are doodle alot this is a great one to have in your pencil case. Enjoyed this video of the many different types I was not aware especially the one with six different corners, makes so much sense. I f you enjoy your writing, doodling or drawing I believe cost is not a concern. In fact who does not enjoy the unexpected with erasers that your peers envy!
you have convinced me this is exactly what i need
I wish I could find a black eraser version of the tombow mono zero. I love the white one and use it often. But it's not so great when I'm on dark paper.
1:15 excuse me. 10000rpm? wtf?
Own an old Tombow Mono Zero, it's one of favorites. My most used is a thin slice of Faber-Castell dust free, pegged between two ice-cream sticks and held together with rubber bands. Any electric eraser is great if the refill is good. Faber-Castell Kneadable Grey are excellent, mold to a point and press for perfect round highlights or roll like a ball to reduce tone (use a little bit then store the rest to keep clean & fresh).
The idea of a see-through eraser sounds kinda cool!
1:42: it has five edges with different widths, so you can erase mistakes of specific sizes
Me: *where’s the 10th side for my existence*
I had that endless corners eraser as a elementary school kid but did not understand it as such and just stuck them together like legos
They're perfect
I will always have a special place in my heart for stationery :).
Why do I want all of these when I mostly use pens 😭
Jesus, just when you think these erasers are over-engineering, Jetpens decided to rub more salt by adding a dust collector at then end.
i love the machinery at the end that picked up the eraser clumps, i really want one. 🤭🤪👍❤
Tombow mono erasers are quite common amongst artists and architectures. 10/10 would recommend to buy that
The Japanese always make the coolest and durable designs I love them.
could you please make a vídeo about pens for people who like gripping near the tip of the pen?
Love how innovative and advance Japanese people are with their erasers. I don’t even use them and I want some 😍
I like how the motorized Sakura has a big EE3000 on the side, which is almost precisely the hex color of the crimson red accents
The spinning eraser is actually something my grandparents just showed me two days ago! Its a very good eraser but I find it pretty hard to use😅
meanwhile,
Kneadable eraser : I can be all of them
you literally earned my subscribe. love the content!
Now I want that dust collector lmao
What is the little desk vacuum at the end?
Hi there! That's a Midori Eraser Dust Mini Cleaner: www.jetpens.com/Midori-Eraser-Dust-Mini-Cleaners/ct/2221
Artists: take my money.
I've seen actual Artists use the pencil erasers and electric erasers. they seem like a dream to use. I'm gonna buy one right now.
HIGHLY recommend the electric eraser!
This is pretty cool!
The electric Sumogrip eraser is the best eraser out there. I use for fine line detail work on my airbrush paintings. It gets perfect detail everytime.
Day nth of waiting the face reveal of Mr. Deep Voice Guy.
Everything that is engineered by the Japanese is GREAT! 🇮🇳❤️🇯🇵
I LITERALLY WANT THIS!!
Love, Love Them ALL.
Seriously over engineered. But definitely useful for architects and sketch artists 👍👍
This will be very useful for engineering students. During my 1st sem I had different kinds of eraser to help me with engineering graphics subject. It was very helpful.
I don’t think I’ve used a rubber since I was a kid, but this video almost made me want to start using them again! These are so cool.
CZcams algorithm for me rn
Show this guy anything and he'll watch!
I need all of them… ❤
I'm more intrigued in the dust collecting car thing, unnecesarily great!
Over-engineered? Hardly. Now I'm trying to decide which one(s) I want. I have a SumoGrip but the edges wear down and I need precision. Either the motorized Tombow or the Slendy. Cool vid!
This is so good😍
Oh oh oh I have the Tombow mini one it’s very nice and precise
Looks very very cool
I have the tombow eraser, its very precise and its good for erasing little details. Even my brother loves it!
As an industrial design student 4 years ago, one of my classmates have those motorized erasers and Imma tell this, they are a literal godsend for manual drafting
i never thought i needed new erasers ❤❤❤❤
