      My idea for Last of Us part 3 story:
      After the death of Joel and Ellie's failure to kill Abby, she returns to Jackson where she claims to be Joel's daughter in order to inherit all his money, which pisses off Joel's brother Tommy who knows he should inherit the money. There will be a court trial (in the style of Ace Attourney) where there in the end Tommy wins and inherits the money, but he also likes Ellie and adopts her but then dies so in the end she gets the money anyway. The End

    What I noticed about the story is that Ellie doesn’t know why Abby killed Joel. Dina asked her in a random dialogue “why didn’t they kill you and Tommy? Maybe you weren’t who they were looking for”
    When Abby confronted Ellie at the theater Ellie said “I’m the one you want, there’s no cure because of me” Abby didn’t give a fuck about the cure. That wasn’t why she killed Joel.
    So either this is just bad storytelling or maybe these too will explain there POV to each other in Part 3.

      @@CoNiCuZn From a moral perspective, all bets are off. Multiple arguments can be made for either side. But from a storytelling and creative perspective, it's really puzzling why they killed Joel. They chose to make Ellie the main character, so sure. It's their story. But did it have to be at the expense of killing Joel? They must have known it would piss off a LOT of the players who loved the first game and who are therefore their core audience. It was an unnecessary gamble. They could have come up with a LOT of other stories and ideas where they didn't have to sacrifice a key and inarguably beloved character from the first game. which unfortunately did not pay off as evidenced by how no one hates the first game and how there is a not insignificant number of people who dislike the second. So yeah, I'd have to agree. Not only was killing Joel a bad move. It was an unnecessary one. A better story could have been told where there is better catharsis between the relationship of Joel and Ellie.

    • @CoNiCuZn
      @CoNiCuZn Pƙed rokem +3

      @@jeremygonzal8603 I have to disagree. Anyone who is a fan of the first game should be a fan because of the great story, the second game also has a great story, it truly doesn’t matter who lives or dies as long as the story is good. Nobody complains when watching Game of Thrones that their favorite character got killed off, characters dying is why people love that show. I think you’re too attached to a fictional character.

      @@CoNiCuZn You said "Anyone who is a fan of the first game should be a fan because of the great story."
      Yeah. I'm a fan of the first game because it had a great story.
      You said "It truly doesn't matter who lives or dies as long as the story is good." and then you use GoT to demonstrate the truth of that.
      Now, while I agree with you in general, the execution of your story would need to be near perfect or at least beats the affection your audience has for the character you're going to kill. GoT was able to do that because it was able to make most of its core characters become beloved by its audience. You lose one here and there, but it still left you with characters you rooted for. However, Last of Us had only two main characters and they brazenly kill one of them at the beginning of the game. Now, as I said, I would be okay with that if the story that comes after compensates for it. What I'm saying is that unlike how an overwhelming majority of gamers loved the first game, this was objectively and indisputably not the case for the second game. You would be hardpressed to find any argument on the internet whether Last of Us 1 had a great story or not. Not difficult at all to do that for the second game.

      @@CoNiCuZnthe second games story is ass, clearly the first story was all there was supposed to be but then they made so much money and realized that they needed to cash in on a game sequel and rushed it and completely fcked up the quality of the story. A toll done by ign in like 2018 I believe showed that most people who played both games hated the second one. I would of loved the second part if it wasn’t so rushed. Ffs they made the daughter of Doctor NPC #2919 the main villain of the second story and didn’t kill her at the end. It was ass and they tried to be poetic with the ending but it failed. The reason games like GTA last forever is because of how damn long the producers take developing the game. TLOU 2 was extremely rushed and it showed in the quality of their story telling

    Revenge stories are hard, especially when you try to strays from the norm. The people commiting acts of violence always have something going on. If in John Wick they showed how Iosef was brought up by an abusive monster father (who become a tantrum throwing man child likely cause of the many privileges he was able to get BECAUSE of John Wick himself) then maybe you'd feel kind of sorry for how much of a lowlife he became, but a violent revenge story shouldn't care about that. In John Wick it doesn't matter what Iosef went through, how he suffered or how shitty his life was. All that mattered was that he took something from the hero, and that hero was gonna stop at nothing to kill him.
    This story is the same, but they attempt to make you have sympathy for the villain without giving you the choice to feel that way or without any other uniting factor. You mercilessly and brutally murder dozens of people(like John Wick) to get to the person you want to kill, you are not allowed to then forced to play through their life story and then when the other had an upper hand you don't get the choice to save them or team with them. The awkward part of this story is the stop between when she is spared by Abby and when months pass and she is happy with Dina and their child. All they had to do was have the other faction play a larger role against both Ellie and Abby and have them learn to forgive while helping each other. But instead they kind of fuck it up.

      @juanvarela1950 Pƙed rokem +1

      thats where you’re wrong, they dont make you sympathize with abby in any way, she does alot of fucked up shit and she could have easily shot joel or something but they made her beat him to death, the whole point of the game is that everyone has a perspective and have their own flaws, ellie did a lot of fucked up shit too, and joel, you and all of the other angry nerds are just salty that joel died and they made you play as his killer when in reality its pretty genius

    • @FunnieApple
      @FunnieApple Pƙed rokem +3

      @@juanvarela1950 I point out that Ellie does horrible things and they do attempt to get you to sympathize. Regardless of what you think, that's why they have you play as her saving two people (a mirror to Joel's quest in the original). The story was only good up to a point, the excuse of allowing the story to end because they both just kind of got tired was a lame ending even if it makes sense given the circumstances. There are things that make sense in real life that don't make compelling stories and the ending to TLOU 2 is one of those. There were ways to make it more compelling and resolve the conflict similarly (which is what I suggested in my original post) but they didn't go with that and took a risk that personally I felt didn't pay off.
      You can call me whatever you want guy, but it seems you're doing a lot of projecting as you're the one that seems angry that people don't think a game you enjoy doesn't have as compelling as a story YOU think it does. I'm not angry, just wanting of a better story and I'm no more of a nerd than you are who took the time to come on here and reply to a comment about a conversation concerning a video game you obviously played through. But I genuinely hope the name calling helps you get through whatever problems you got going on.

The same thing that they didn't know last Jedi and they completely destroy the character of the Luke Skywalker and made him do things that were completely out of character to make something original and surprising well it fucking sucks and so does this sequel. this is the problem with indie movies is there only trying to make something original and something that surprises audience and it just makes negative stories that are fucking depressing when stories are supposed to be fantasy. The reason why the hero is wins in action movies the majority of the time is because that feels good and you're supposed to feel good at the end of the movie for the most part.

      @@thebaranesen @videogamebug So first of all, I don't know why didn't I get a notification for your reply 1 week ago :/
      So I think I was one of the rare people that experienced the game the way the devs wanted. I haven't been spoiled even a sentence, and the moment Joel died, because of the last game experience, my heart broke, I was about to punch the TV.
      As it went on(as you said in your other video), the game forced me to like Abby, by just showing her saving some kids. So in my first playthrough, I did hate EVERY SINGLE MOMENT AS ABBY, And I just wanted to progress until I kill her, but then the things happened, and when the story finished, I felt SO bad for Ellie, because at last, she turned to the person Joel didn't want her to be.
      I didn't know whether it was a masterpiece or a super violent nonsense story. I didn't like the experience, but I believed in Naughty Dog.
      I just thought about it for several days, and I figured out playing it again will help me understand the story better.
      After my second playthrough, I did understand the purpose of the brutal story a little, but still, the parts with Abby were painful.
      In the end, it felt like more real
      It felt like this is what we are
      There are stories in the world as cruel as in TLOU2.
      I did get some new things in my third playthrough.
      In the end, I felt bad, but I accepted that this is a game, an imaginative story, I started to let it go and started playing RDR2 again, Ghost of Tsushima washed the disappointment.
      But still, I think about other better ways they could make TLOU2.
      So yeah, I started to like it more after playing it again, sorry if I have any grammatical mistakes, English isn't my first language, And I'm typing with "Grammarly", and yeah, that's it.

      Soroush Mirhosseini Don’t worry about it, I read it all😂 I’m glad there are some people that learned to like the story. As of yet I’m not ready for a second playthrough, but when I am maybe I’ll make another video on how it changes my perspective if it does or maybe I’ll talk about how it doesn’t. I completely understand what they were going for, but I felt some of the bits in the story personally didn’t make sense to me. For example Ellie being traumatised after torturing Nora after she just killed a lot of people and joel trusting Abby, the joel we know wouldn’t trust anyone. And how do a bunch of people who have been living in an apocalypse think it’s a good idea to keep someone who hates you alive (Ellie after they kill joel). Also, i find it incredibly unlikely for Ellie to get a flashback of joel right when she’s killing Abby especially when she’s still living with ptsd. Personally I feel that for me it could have had a better story. And even this story could have been told better. I think they should have showed all the good things Abby does before killing joel, that way we may be more willing to accept what she’s done and not want Ellie to go after Abby. Therefore, like I said in my other video, what she has done clouds some of our judgment, even at the end, and naughty dog shouldn’t be surprised people criticise the game, especially on their first playthrough. But there were some parts of the game I loved, the museum, the farm, the final flashback. But I thought they tried to make us like Abby, but in doing so also showed she is a bad person too (sleeping with Owen when he’s with Mel and she’s pregnant with his kid). This is the most invested I have been in a game’s release since rdr2 and, for me it’s a shame they went this route. I feel like they tried to replicate the first game a lot, with the Ellie boss fight being like David, the shock death at the beginning like Sarah, but they missed out on the most important thing that made that game great, Ellie and Joel’s relationship. They only had that in 2 parts I feel, the beginning and the museum. And these things makes me have such a negative feeling in my head about this game, I felt depressed playing it a lot, I was depressed for a week after playing it (lockdown may have affected that too) and that’s why I haven’t replayed it yet. But I certainly will when I’m ready.

      Thanks bro! Personally, I felt like there was a lot of inconsistencies with the writing and I hated the structure of the story (if they were to let us play as Abby before Joel’s death I would be more inclined to accept it). Also, I find it very hard to believe that if after a year of Joel’s death, if Ellie still had the fire in her belly to leave her family to go after Abby that she’d decide there to let her go, makes no sense. And they didn’t exactly make Abby the most likeable person, I don’t hate her but she is a homewrecker too. I also find it hard to believe that Ellie should keep Abby alive since Abby is looking for the fireflies, so if she finds them and tells them about Ellie they could come after her and Dina because of Ellie’s immunity. I totally agree though on its own this story is probably decent.

    TLOU universe had so much potential. Obviously Joel and Ellie aren't the only survivours. Have other survivours' stories. Or the Fireflies POV. They talked about being brave doing this mess of a story. It would have been brave if you had a whole new character and story for the sequel. It doesn't have to be Ellie and Joel. Have a whole story on Abby so you don't have to do flashback after flashback. TLOU3 can be where Abby killed Joel. Such a waste.

    • @thebaranesen
      @thebaranesen  Pƙed 3 lety +4

      That’s a very good point, they could have had the entirety of TLOU2 be so we care and empathise with Abby, without even knowing that Ellie & Joel had anything to do with Abby’s story, and like you said, they could have sprung that on us in TLOU3. That would have been so much better and felt a lot less disjointed because of the lack of flashbacks, not to mention a lot more people would be willing to forgive Abby or at least understand her if they spent an entire game on her just like they did with Joel and Ellie.

Ik the gameplay was good but judging from the story it just seems stupid. They turned it into another revenge type story but it's like how many of those do we have. TLOU1 was all about Joel and Ellie's bond and wasn't about Ellie even though the remake makes it seem like it will be. People say that most people don't like the game cause Joel died but the story is just super inconsistent and doesn't even give an explanation for a ton of stuff. Thx for giving me a full understanding and hopefully when they make the third (since it's already announced) it's a prequel about Tommy cause he's not much different from Joel which is cool.

Ellie kills (and tortures) Abbys friends. Tell me if im wrong.

    • @thebaranesen
      @thebaranesen  Pƙed 3 lety +6

      I see what you’re saying, but I think what they were actually trying to bring across was that neither were good or bad people, they just were normal people who let their emotions get the better of them. If you look at it Abby wasn’t a saint either, she broke up a possible family (by sleeping with the guy). This isn’t necessarily black and white. However, I think in Ellie’s head she was probably thinking that all the people present when killing Joel were all complicit. If you’re there you helped Abby kill him, or at least wanted her to do it. Look at that girl, Nora, she insults Joel in front of Ellie, clearly she wanted him dead. And besides, Ellie would want to inflict the same pain Abby inflicted in her when she killed her loved one before she kills Abby. Having said that, I think a lot of Ellie’s anger stemmed from the lack of closure she had with Joel, she thought they ended on bad terms until the end where she remembered her forgiving him the night before his death, which is what causes her to let Abby live. Again that reinforces that they aren’t good or bad people, just people with emotions.

      Interesting perspective, you seem to be looking at the story from a more logical perspective whereas most other people including myself seem to be looking at it from an emotional perspective because of our attachment to Joel and Ellie, and their relationship

      Actually the cure might have worked. There was no guarantee and they were forcing her to be the cure without her consent. So Joel made the right moral decision. But then he makes a bad moral decision by not telling her that she could have been the cure. He also didn't give her the choice to seek out another doctor that might have been able to create the cure. The story is really about respecting an individuals ability to make their own choices with their body. This is why I absolutely hate the ending of the second one because Joel goes back on his decision which he in my opinion He would not do because I think he in His opinion He made the right moral choice based on his love for Ellie and their immoral choice to kill an innocent person with only a possibility of having a cure. It's kind of like all the people that are getting myocarditis from the vaccine because the people that put out the vaccine wanted to take a chance on a new technology that was not fully tested. And there's plenty of studies that show that the vaccine, moderna I believe, causes higher rates of myocarditis between ages 16 and 25.

      Do the stories fucking terrible. I mean it answer the flash pack where Joel goes back on his decision to save Ellie that's so fucking stupid and completely ruins the first story. Unless Joel was referring to not telling her. Joe was not a bad guy for saving her life because he saved her life from people that were going to kill her with the chance of saving humanity but they were doing this against her will what made him a bad person as he didn't tell her she also didn't give her a choice.
