  • Hraunfossar (or Lava Falls) in Iceland is a series of beautiful waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming out of the Hallmundarhraun lava field. It is located in West Iceland near another waterfall called Barnafoss (it appears at 12:51).
The lava field that Hraunfossar trickles through flowed from an eruption of one of the volcanoes lying under the nearby glacier of Langjökull, the second largest ice-cap in Iceland. The waterfalls pour into the Hvítá river from ledges of less porous rock in the lava.

Perfect music for these images.👏💯 We went there in August of this year, so to watch it now with this amazing melody, it just takes it to another level.

The view was pretty nice. When your boyfriend isn't imaginary any more you'll watch this again together and you'll cry with joy :)

Photographing and being photographed at Barnafoss, down in the little canyon many years ago, was a dangerous and intense experience for me. It also wasn't sunny so your video is absolutely glorious. You capture the beautiful water coming out of the side of the lava field.
To northeast from here is a large cave, a lava tube called Surtshellir (east then north), and going east then southeast you come to a small glacier, Þórisjökull, which is much melted today.
I am delighted by so many features built for the safety and convenience of visitors. Who builds the trails and platforms for viewing? Long time ago such things were sometimes built by hiking or touring societies or clubs (Ferðafélags)

Haha I'm starting to think you were lucky to make it back alive after all your photography sessions. I'd love to see some of those photos :) Sometimes landowners can apply for grants to improve the trails and platforms and sometimes they are private operations and the landowners take some fee through parking or services and products. Although I'll admit I'm not too knowledgeable about this as it seems to vary greatly.
