    Finally somebody else mentions 3 finger drag! It's so much better than clicking and dragging. It should be on by default.

    Hi Todd,
    you can skip skitch as this is built into macOS long time ago:
    SHIFT+CMD+3 = Screenshot
    SHIFT+CMD+4 = Screenshot selected Area
    SHIFT+CMD+5 = Screen Record

    There is no need to turn off True Tone and Night Shift. Instead, I would recommend to change display color preset. There is a number of specialized presets for video and photo work, and those presents automatically turn off True Tone and Night Shift for you. To make preset switching faster you can add display icon to the menu bar 🙂

Had a quick question: When turning off true tone, there is also a drop down box for “Color Profile,” with Color LCD listed by default, but has many other options as well. Do you recommend or use any of the other color profile options in the list, or leave it on default “Color LCD”? Thanks again for all the info. Definitely a fan of your channel and content.

    Todd! Good to see you - great channel! Fresh installs are definitely a good thing.. but I’ve used Migration assistant successfully nearly 100% over many years - including the migration from my MacPro to new MacStudio a few weeks ago. Everything came over perfectly, including all the Adobe CC suite apps. So, in many cases, it’s an excellent tool. Just my $.02.

    1. Hazeover is a small app that dims or blacks windows of other apps than the foreground app. Good for reducing visual clutter.
    2. Bartender hides/manages menu bar icons until mouseover.
    3. Keyboard Maestro does macros for macOS. Works nicely with Elgato Stream Deck.

    I just purchased one yesterday. WOW..........By gosh its a high performing Macbook. I ended up going with the 1TB model in 16inch M1 Pro. Rendering in FCPX is insanely quick. Most impressed that it appears to just handle anything I throw at it. Thanks for the video, it helped in making my decision.

    • @DanielHarrisCodes
      @DanielHarrisCodes Před rokem +1

      I’m also “late” to the M1 Pro range having purchased in late 2022 (had the air before as a general purpose laptop but found myself wanting to use it for work and wanting some more ports and stuff)
      I was tempted by the 16” but mainly just move between office locations where I dock so the portability of the 14” won me over. The 16” feels like quite the experience and feels quite special when your sitting in front of it you feel like you’re controlling a beast of a machine, bit more impactful and exciting in some ways

    You don't raise the resolution but scale the desktop. There is an optimal scale for the screen ratio you use, also for second screens. I also change the scaling rightaway because I want maximal screen estate.

I like it so far, but here are some of the things I have noticed and do not like it about it. First, the battery drains quick. and the second issue I have is whenever I want to to use an external hard drive and formatted in exfat or in ms-dos(fat) the macbook wants to run slow. and it's not with one particular external hard drive, it's with any other external hard drive formatted in exfat or ms-dos (fat). But if the external hard drive was formatted in APFS format then ist runs smoothly and quick. why is that? why in exfat or in ms-dos(fat) it runs slow?

    I love Dropbox because it actually copies the resource fork of files, which is important in a lot of situations (custom icons or Finder comments). I actually prefer Resilio Sync because it’s peer to peer, and buy-once. I don’t want my files living on Google or Dropbox or Apple’s servers, being checked by their algorithms. Resilio Sync is way better for that.
