A bad PVC valve could be the cause of pressure build up, blowing out oil. Might as well do it too, since you have it half way apart ! But it's no fun, but you have to do it !
I thought you were supposed to torque the inner bolts first and work your way out. Like the opposite of how you loosened the bolts when taking the cover off. Yes or no?
