    I was a welder/fabricator for many years before becoming a toolmaker then mechanical engineer where I worked in automotive manufacturing engineering. I designed the machines and processes that make engine and transmission parts. This guy is on a whole other level the way he makes everything by hand with the most basic tools. He's an artist.

    This man is highly skilled. He makes it look easy, some of u engineers are blown away thinking u over complicate things but truth is very few ppl in the world can build with basic tools like he does. Rest of us really need micrometers and precision tools to make something like this work.

      Yeah engineer complicate things, but make them safe. Can you use that engine in your vehicle? No. Cz safety is what engineers have to count for. They are held responsible at the end.

    Cutting a functional gear using nothing but a drill press and an angle grinder.... Holy hell that is some serious skill right there. Seriously impressive. Even making an entire cylinder head assembly from scratch. No words to express this.

    Been drag racing and building high hp engines all my life 37 years to be exact. But to see someone construct a head from scrap metal. All the while think how is he going to build the cam. When you welded one out of 2 beads on a bolt and it worked i lost it. Great video any race team could use a guy like you with quick unique thinking on the fly.

      That makes 2 of us. - I'm a friggin engineer and let me tell you,,,he gets away with things I wouldn't even THINK of trying. Either he pulls it off because he doesn't know any better or he's a total genius. - My money is on #2.
      His channel sure is named right. I'm 74 years old and he is teaching me things I never learned in school or through experience.

      Да, я частично согласен, но все же использовать и переделывать компрессора, которые предназначены для своих целей (перекачки фреона) под ДВС это уже перебор.

    FANTASTIC! - I hope the Let's Learn Something dude sees this regarding why motor starts running a little rough after a while -
    It's be cause of the heat exchange effect taking place in the bubbler caused by evaporation.
    The liquid fuel gets icy cold where evaporation slows right down.
    Keep the bubbler warm with the exhaust and it will run even better!

    The apparent ease with which he made the OHC and valve rockers was engineering poetry in motion. I was just a little bit dubious about the looseness of the valve stems, and the apparent compression ratio , about 100:1 ?! - but hey what a job. You're a genius , my friend.

      Yes, i thought same thing, he left vary less space above top dead centre of piston to compress air, which makes difficult for piston to compress air at that large ratio, resulting leakage of air through valves.

    It's crazy how much effort he put into that Thing. He could have made it a two stroke but no, he made it a four stroke. He could have made the valves open from underneath but no, he made hanging valves with a chain drivin camshaft and everything. I'm blown away

I inherited it from him originally and have always added and used bits over the years. Now my son uses it, he also calls it his grandad box as my father has given him a heap of stuff to put in it.

I was wondering if there was enough metal on the barrel walls to enable some kind of rudimentary coolant system, then you could go ahead and utilise the motor as a powerplant or as a stationary engine for a generator etc? Great stuff. I always enjoy watching your shows.

      perhaps because the compressor isn't designed for heat and will probably be internally melted within hours. Not to mention that normal compressor usage keeps the cylinders lubricated. How's he oiling it? Also there's no way to control the air/fuel mixture, which is why it's smoking so bad. It's flooding. Or maybe the jank of that spark plug wire? He's got an open can of gas next to that thing. Or maybe that it requires a battery to stay running? He could have put a condensor on it, making that unnecessary. It's a good idea in theory but it was already shaking apart by the end of the video.

      @@bloccoaspirale1867 Sure, look at the sprocket he made! Not exactly a machined part. I think the methods he uses are ingenious. And I've never seen such a light touch with a grinder. Believe me, I was a steelworker for 12 years and I was THE best in my company in the artistry of grinding....and I could not do the fine work he does. I can appreciate it.

    It's not very usable, and it will destroy itself in a short period of time, but this ingenuity is what got the industrial revolution off the ground 200 years ago. There are still a few folks that can think outside the box, and showing others in videos like this is the best part of what they do ... Great Job

      @@fishsquishguy1833 That's an OHC (Overhead cam, chain driven). OHV has the cam by the crank, with pushrods (like a Harley).

Our 4WD club used to world with a metal shop in Pakistan that basically made NLA parts by hand for the club when we got an order together. Made by and, and cheap enough to ship around the world to US customers. That was before 9-11...

      @@bludude41 it does, valve caps need lubed also this isn't made to run for long so it's not a problem. Lots of parts also not hardened steel. But for a proof of concept the guy killed it.

    To be honest I normally watch the first 2 or 3 minutes of these sort of videos and think yeah whatever, I could not drag myself away from this one. How you worked out the valve and ignition timing, the timing chain tensioner even down to the valve stem seals, making the cylinder head and the valves, You my friend are a total genius. I could not praise you enough, Best video I have seen
