    Thanks, this came in useful. My main PC died and due to current budget constraints, I picked up an Optiplex 9020 for £20 and upgraded it with parts from my dead pc. Had to remove the drive cage to fit my RX580 and this video helped :P

    Thanks for this video, got stuck on the last few rivets. But watched this and popped it out. Now my old GTX 980ti fits in there perfect. Just gotta upgrade the PSU to a 600watt and I’m golden.

    Thank you for posting this video. I followed your procedure, used a magnet plus vacuum to clean up metal shavings, and now I can fit my GPU card just fine! 😁

    This was exactly what I needed! Got all the rivets on the bottom and front but didn’t realize they had invisible rivets on the sides, was stumped why it wouldn’t slide out.

    Thanks for this info! For what it's worth.. the 7010 (most likely on others too) computer has one right angle cable with a sticker pull tab used for the HDD on the disk side. I shaved off the pull tab with a razor blade and made it flush and used that connector on the mobo side. Doing this, allowed me to put a reference 680gtx in the case without any case mods including keeping the hard drive cage. I still need to figure out the optical drive and USB 3 header issue but that's something down the line to worry about. Super good budget gaming machine for those looking for one.

    When you tighten the chuck of your drill, always back it off one click (in case of new drills like the one you have). It activates the lock and the chuck won't loosen on you :)

    So I have a 3010 Optiplex and I am using it as a home server. I have the two bottom 3.5s used for mirror drives and am using a 2.5 SSD for the OS. There is a bracket, just below the two 5.25 bays that almost appears to be a 3.5 bay, can you tell me what it's for and if a special Dell bracket is required?

    Be careful when taking the front bezel off and putting it back on, the clips are brittle and can break easily

      @@malecrium8665 just a vaccum and a magnet if you really want to be safe. Its the same procedure I did when I had a stripped out oil pan bolt on a friends car

      To be safe I'd probably remove everything from the case and then attempt this then grab vacuum/ magnet and clean it as best you can again im not an expert and I'm not responsible for damage caused to you or your computer parts.

    Hah i've been slowly doing the same thing to a free Optiplex 9020 I got. Was thinking about possibly using an RTX 2070 (mini) due to the limited space from the HDD cage. Worried about the overall heat situation in their though if I ramp it up.

    That's exactly what I did for installing a 1060 6gb SSC. I had to buy L-Shaped SATA III cables to fit under the card. I didn't mind relinquishing some of the USB headers in the front. I hardly used them 😆

      Hi, yes you can still install on the bottom PCI express x16 slot Pci-e Express Card With 2x Dual Internal 19-pin USB 3.0 Port and USB 3.0 20-Pin Male to Female Internal Extension Cable this will allow you to use USB 3.0 ports on the front.

    Yes... my graphics board doesn't fit... so I had to try something... thanks for the video Mxkdi ... Mine didn't have the rivets on the bottom... It was all going fine until I got to the bottom ...it has some type of slide lock, one side came out ok and the other is still stuck..

      Lol good answer there, I've read you need to use L shaped sata connectors which are pretty easy to come by. I also ordered a L shaped USB 3.0 from amazon for $6, not sure if it will work yet.

    How do you connect all 4 sata cables to the motherboard under that card? Even if you use L-shaped connections I don't see how you could connect all 4-am I wrong?

    Tip: Don't destroy the hard drive cage and you can then re-mount higher up either using bolts or zip ties.

      Dell precision t 3620 does have m.2 slot you can use samsung 970 evo ssd for main boot drive.

      @@mxkdt okay thank you that's was what I was wondering about see on mine the nvme m.2 internal ssd is my os boot drive so it is ok to add a ssd, and a hdd to for extra storage for my games, and ect. For my nvme m.2 internal ssd mine is a 256 GB sk hynix kind.

      Yes you can add extra SSD or HDD for extra storage for gaming main boot drive or you can get match pair SSD drives and run them in raid 0 in Dell precision t 3620.

    I ve a dell optiplex 3020 MT and i got a brand new rx 570 4gb mining edition. i replaced the psu to a thermaltake 700w and i use a 24 pin to 8 pin connector for the the motherboard . My computer just works fine but when the GPU is installed the computer turns on, CPU fan is spinning / GPU fans too /the lights are on but no display, nothing shown on the screen. i put the the VGA cable to the convertor and then i plug it into the GPU. the computer turns on but no boot and nothing shown on the screen again . and when i plug the VGA cable into the motherboard it works and i can see the GPU information on CPUZ. .i updated the bios to the latest version that i found on dell website, and put the boot mode on UEFI . i put secure boot OFF and legacy option roms ON? but the same thing happened. so what other ways i can try ? ? Note i m plugging the 8 in the GPU and every other cable is plugging properly.

      You can buy usb 3.0 extender cable they sell online and you can buy USB 3.0 card you can install on the botom thru PCi slot and that allow you to use front USB 3.0 ports.

    Did not work for me. I have a Dell Optiplex 9020 made in 2016. There are two flanges in the back of the drive cage that go outward and appear to be adhered very tightly ro welded to the base of the motherboard plate on the left and to the the lip of the front case on the right. This is different the the drive cage in the video. I drilled out all the rivets but these attachments will not move. I may take the motherboard out and use a hacksaw, bolt cutter, dremel, or other demolition tool to cut this out. It is a pain that Dell had a different drive cage in mine.

      @@jamesb6008 I realized I missed a few rivets in the back. I did eventually get it out. I wish I could send a picture of the cage such is still on my basement. I just used a drill on the rivets.

      yes i used scissors..took me 3 hours to get the rivets off ..the 3 underneath and 5 at the back...then i ripped out the cage ignoring the 4 or 5 holes u have to drill through on inside the cage

      For best practices, yes. It all depends on how aggressive one drills to create debris.

      Lite-on 48x CD/DVD-R/RW
      VSeven 24inch monitor 60Hz
      Logitech Speakers, Keyboard, Mouse

      @@Dexion845 you might want to install an ssd, maybe 240gb/256gb if you want to speed up load times. Install the OS and programs in the SSD and use the HDD as a storage drive for media.

      Only way to remove the bottom is to use chisel, you can buy drill online and they can ship it to you.
