I am a librarian, teacher and avid children’s literature collector, so you would think I would cringe at cutting up children’s books, but no, I see old books thrown away because people don’t value them. So I am glad to see them get used. This is wonderful and something I will do.
Thanks Rachel! People get angry sometimes seeing junk Journalers cutting up books be abuse they don’t realize how many books end up in the trash! It’s so nice to give them a new life! 😃❤️
Every video I watch, I think, “This is my favorite!” The same is true for this one, but I don’t think I could love anything more than this journal. If you ever decide to sell it, I would love to buy. I am such a fan of children’s literature and this journal just speaks to me. Thanks for sharing!

LOVE THIS! I retired after 30 years of teaching, and, like an IDIOT, I donated ALL my childrens' books to thrift shops. I regret doing this now as I am purchasing some for use in my journals...DUH...I love how bright and colorful their images are!

I feel the same way about cutting up a child’s vintage book but I found some today at a thrift store that were in very poor repair so I feel like I’m actually saving the images from being lost…so I don’t feel bad cutting into them.

I love this journal! My October journal is an altered book style but you have inspired me to make a journal like this one for the winter with a theme of forest creatures. Little deer, bears, squirrels, hedgehogs, and of course birds. I can't wait! I wonder if I can wait until after Christmas...Hmmm...

Oh wow I love this journal! I've wound this video backwards a few times as it's so inspiring and so found myself crafting along with you making fabric pockets for my travel journal I'm making. The cover is gorgeous, and true that it's just the thing for autumn, all squishy and soft. I've kept some paper shopping bags and didn't know what to do with them. I do now! I'm definitely going to make my Christmas journal using your techniques and it would be lovely to have my Christmas journal large like yours as I always manage to overfill mine. Beautiful x

Love love it!! I kept my 4 kids story books, and I will do this with them. wished I had know about this when their children were kids..but even the 7 grand kids are grown now..maybe Great grands will get journals from these story books!

Barbara, this has nothing to do with is journal… but I was making a journal today and made some mistakes and asked myself, what would Barbara do? I love that you show the oops moments and how you work through them. In the past I would have thrown today’s journal out. Instead I used tools, tape, glue…. I figured out how to make it work.
