Yellowfin 36 vs. The World

  • A few weeks ago, we introduced our performance ECU software into the wild. Aboard our Yellowfin 36R, powered by three Mercury Verado 350's -- we used the Saltwater Shootout bimini start as a benchmark. The two-foot chop in the morning provided a fair stomping ground for triple vs. quad engine boats. Coming from a motorsports background, we understand the need for "real world data" to back up numbers on a graph. Join us as we run down a pack of about 100+ boats!

❓ Have questions about your boat setup? Reach out to one of our captains. We sell a variety of products from SIMRAD, Fusion, JL Audio, Raymarine, Garmin, Lenco, Bennet, and more on our website: bit.ly/3to1MhI

Aside from those yellowfins being badass and the tune it had we can not dismiss the fact that that captain was wheeling that bitch and taking it to the absolute limit. Very impressive and I admire that the whole crew was ready to go and not wussing out giving the captain the green light to push it to the limit

It will be interesting to see the aftermarket progress in the marine market. I remember back in 03-04 when ford released the supercharged cobra mustangs and the aftermarket took off with them. Smaller pulleys for more boost, ported blowers for cooler temps and more volume, tuners, etc and people were racing like crazy on the stock engine. These four stroke outboards are much the same but the marine market isn’t used to a supporting aftermarket in the way of big performance gains. I’m looking forward to it! Nice video and boat! Now if someone will realize turbos and move to them. On an outboard I would think the lost hp turning the supercharger would be a big disadvantage compared to a turbo not to mention less maintenance. I wonder who will be the first to put turbo outboards into production?

Unfortunately in the marine market your pretty constricted on what you can do. Biggest thing is water intrusion. Wave comes over the cowling and your butt hole puckers.

It'll be interesting to see where things go with the new V12 Verado. 600 horsepower naturally aspirated. Would be vicious with 8 to 10 pounds of boost.
