The key game design factors of Vanilla that the new Blizzard devs don't understand are:
A familiar, open world that exudes a feeling of freedom. That is a home for many and never changes.
The feeling of having the freedom to do what I want at any time and everything I do has value and meaning at the same time and also leads to the goal. But how, with whom and for how long the whole thing happens is something I decide to a large extent, freely myself.
In this world that we know, there are many encounters. And here too I am free to decide how I behave towards others. And these encounters are what make the game so magical.
It is the player's freedom that is always conspicuously the focus in Vanilla and is suppressed in retail. As soon as the player feels compelled to do something, the fun is lost.
And anyone who hasn't played it intensively themselves won't understand it. The developers don't understand the feeling of FREEDOM. That was in the minds of the developers back then who designed Vanilla.
Josh has been working in Blizzard for 15 years, i doubt he doesn't understand anything that you can. To be fair classic wow sucks, it has very few fans, because it has nonending grinding and it is pretty unfinished version of WoW. I would say TBC 2.4.3 patch was the finished version of wow. that is what they have started on vanilla and finished on 2.4.3, that is why TBC is the best early expansion. The Only expansion that is better than TBC is the Legion
@lashaxoperia5917 agreed. Vanilla WoW is an unfinished mess of a game. Finalky played through it last year as a paladin, and the problems show themselves frequently during the leveling, and more so during raids.
Unfinished classes and storylines really bog classic era down to the point where i cannot find the fun in leveling another character and probably wont touch classic era in the near future.
Now, if we had classic+(which sod is testing for), im more than down to play that.

Turtle wow. Been playing for a couple of days and let me tell you; new zones, a lot of new quests, items, spells etc.. all in the spirit of vanilla. Vanilla has never tasted better ngl

Turtle Wow does everything i want from classic+ logical class balance, new zones for leveiing that actual feel like vanilla quests , new dungeons when leveling that feel like vanilla. etc... Also active gms banning bots and boosting. It such a wonderful thing. Truly wish peeps would give it a shot. Best version of wow by a mile atm.

@85Hellkite until they can get consoleport addon to work with the client, ill be staying away from TWoW. I am interested in the 2.0 on Unreal and maybe theyll allow consoleport to work then.
Reason why i use a controller is because my wrists are mush(from WoW go figure) and ive been playing classic era(until sod launched) and retail with a controller since then.
@@powercheif Recommend asking for controller support to their twitter, since it will be on UE, I can imagine adding controller support won't be too difficult.
Working with the 1.12 client is just a big yikes, also hoping your wrists will recover over time brother.
I had massive wrist pain when I played OW 18Hrs a day and competed.
How populated is it compared to SOD? Be honest
@@rosspritchett8423 Peak EU times it reaches upwards of 5k+. During NA it drops down to around 3k? Either way it doesn't matter since Twow is cross-faction PVE raids/dungeons/quests (except for BG/PVP)
I wouldn't trust Blizzard with making a cookie at this point, let alone Vanilla+.
Yeah they seem to be struggling to even get retail to work properly. Classic+ would be a disaster unless they outsource it to Chinese devs
Blizzard will not make a good game again and I am convinced of that.
That being said, I would try Classic+ because Classic is the best game ever made so you just have to try
Playing the only class that can summon might be why every one waits for you to get to the dungeon first :)

No Dual Spec.
People have plenty of opportunity to fix mistakes, while also making people commit to their build and not respec for every activity they do.
Lmao I have zero faith in Classic+, I'll be taking my donation money to Turtle. And then when they take down Turtle, I'll donate to whoever replaces them. And so on. Blizzard is simply incapable of getting it. Also expecting Blizzard (a publicly traded stock) to behave the same as Jagex (owned by a private firm) is a pipe dream that will never, ever happen. What is good for the player is not always good for the stock holder and vice versa.

One thing Blizzard has abundance of, is pretty girl characters to use for story.
Phase 3 was so bad... It was no longer possible to pretend that blizzard was competent and quit.
Sod has been very enjoyable. Theyre trying things out(as it should be). Whether they work or not is how everyone finds out
Glad you enjoy it, I find it to be Meh. But as that may be true, it only goes so far. One didn't need to play the initial incursions to know they were really bad for the game.

SoD is a cheap excuse for why they couldn't be bothered to make C+. It's just Vanilla with some runes and repurposed dungeons.

Totally disagree about the duel spec take, it's been my favourite addition to classic in general that we've seen in SoD. As somebody who enjoys PvP AND PvE, it's been so nice to have both my builds ready.
When I'm roaming the world questing, gathering, running to raid etc I can be in my PvP talents incase of wPvP. When I zone into the raid, I just swap to my PvE talents and gear set, and off I go.
Having to go back into town to change talents constantly is honestly just terrible to have to deal with. I think it would kill Classic+ for me immediately off the rip.
Leave the game functionality and mechanics the same just add more stuff to do. Fill the classic world out more I think that's all people are asking for: more quests, more items, more dungeons, more raid. Some minor class balance to make lesser played classes more viable is all the class balance needed.
New zones and levels. I essentially want Classic-style expansions like TBC/Wrath and ideally with developments to the existing world that don't ruin it like Cata did.

The problem ist, that players optimize the fun out of the game at every opportunity. And this kind of behaviour is instilled in modern gamers to the point that they won't play with you, if you don't do the same.
Oh you want to play pvp and raid? well you need to respec every time so happy farming because to afford a respec you need to farm for atleast 2 hours to earn those 100g for change back and forth once.
Bingo. Hardcore sweats deserve a voice but should not be prioritized over the requests of normal players (75%). They fucking ruin every game they play. Not to mention even when you do cater to the sweats, they still bitch to no end. These are people who are mentally ill and will never be satisfied. No offense hardcore sweats but stop ruining my fuggin game
Stop trying to balance the game around parse lords, everyone is doing early TBC damage, who cares if Boomkins can’t pump as hard as Survival Hunters.

15:00 no that's dumb. here's why - the game isn't only group activities. so hybrid classes - to be effective both as their roles or as dps -(because dps is how you do anything solo in the game) hybrid classes need to switch talents - so... not giving hybrid classes dual spec is hurting us in the long run by A LOT!
you can't then say - we want class identity when my class identity as a paladin is that I can go from smiting my foes to healing my allies based on what gear and talents I have but not allow me to have access to that...
I want Classic Plus. I don't know if Blizzard could make it without ruining it but I still want it.
Also.. I'd vote for increased flying paths speed
having a secondary talent that you can swap to in the open world is just qol change. This is one point i cant agree with you on
One of the best things about OG vanilla were the faction capital raids.
Classic + could add capital raid events and faction leaders could drop raid and pvp gear.
Imagine your faction organizing a huge group to raid a faction capital and the other faction would defend their leader.
This would still be in the spirit of vanilla. It would promote open world pvp. Social aspect of the game etc...

Community polls would have the same problem it has in OSRS.

7:20 RETURNING - RE-ENTRY. that has nothing to do with a level 1 player or a level 10 player. it has everything to do with a level 35 that quit for 3 months and now feel like the whole server has their BiS and no one is doing leveling dungeons so they can't do quest runs of anything.
or a fresh 60 without pre-bis returning after 3 months are now behind every guild doing AQ when they don't have even one tier 1 piece....

Honestly start small. Add dungeon maps. Make stacks to 20 not 1 then 5 then 10 then 20. Bag space limitation can still be a thing but random stack sizes drive me nuts.
I agree about the tasteful class overhauls but I 100% want dual spec. It's too much of a hassle as a hybrid class to constantly respect and set my bars up for a new spec. You're a warlock so respeccing doesn't completely change your hot bars.
As for flying, what if instead of buying a flying mount, you just rent them, can't fly very high and is restricted to the zone you rented it in or you get it for like 5-10 minutes so you can manually fly to where you want but then have to go back to the flight master to rent another one. I feel like that would be a decent trade off.

I have the idea in my head to make the game more realistic. I think about a caravan with 2 or 3 carter NPCs on a wagon with horses delivering supply from let's say Stormwimd to the STW Camp. You can pay them a fee and hop on the wagon like an Uber. It takes a long time but you can go AFK if you want.
This brings more life to the World with moving NPCs and creating something like and Infrastructure to Azeroth.
I actually quite like the fact that we have to walk a lot. It reminds me of exploring a forest in real life.
@ProfoundFamiliarity yea of course the Caravans are like a once every 3 hours thing. So seeing one and ride with it could be a nice experience :)

On the flying mount question, I'd say "no" ... but add some way to increase the speed of mounts.. maybe have: 60% 100% and 150% mounts. With some rare/farmable or obtained via achievement that are 180%
Current designers ar blizzard dont understand World of Warcraft. They think retail is good. Thats a problem.

I like the idea of the BFD raid for leveling just not like how we had 'em you're out leveling and just get 9 other people pop into a raid get some gear and xp and keep on going
Classic+ is the only way I would entertain Classic WoW, I uninstalled all the Classic versions. SoD is garbage.
I agree with stay safe. I hate the new social features.
The problem isn't the bag sizes. It's the amount of TRASH you have filling up your bag. With Classic, the other issue is currencies and reagents needed to buy certain things that take up bag space. Currencies should never, ever take up bag space. Especially when the game has about 600 systems that give you different currencies like Retail does.
I dislike transmogs you can purchase with infinite number of currencies. You should have to earn the armor. Then it can be a Transmog after you've earned it. Not bought it. You should not be able to buy anything that you have to earn in game.

I disagree with Stay about dual-spec. Try to run in openworld with healing gear and talents, same works for tanks.
Dpses dont need to dual-spec, because they have one role, but for healers and tanks, its kinda nightmare pull just one mob _(for example when you are colecting herbs/ores)_ and fight with him eternity or try to run away from him, with 100% uptime daze effect.
Whole idea about "ritual of respec" is nice on the paper, but in reality doesnt working.
Whether or not this survey is real, it does a good job at pointing out that Classic Plus means too many different things to too many different people. Blizzard could release any combination of everything listed in this survey, and people will be unhappy and saying it's not Classic Plus.
I just don't think Blizzard will risk it. And let's not forget that the reason a permanent OSRS with updates exists is because Jagex can monetize it beyond the subscription fee with their own WoW token called Bonds. And imagine if Blizzard introduced the WoW token into some Classic Plus server. It'd be pretty much blasphemy.
I kind of disagree. People want tasteful, minimal class tweaks and new content. Turtle WoW nails this.

The first 20 seconds of this sums up my exact feelings as well. I loved SOD P1 and P2 was pretty good. P3 completely destroyed the game. I was bored, my friends and guild all left, and I migrated back to hardcore. I realized hardcore, on regular old classic era, going through the OG 1-60 content is the absolute most enjoyable version of the game. I'm not going back to SOD.

I left at the start of P3 due to having a new baby. I came back about 2 months in and my server was completely dead and all my friends quit or rerolled. Servers will be the same way 3 weeks after MC.

I still love classic but I am definitely in the classic + group, I would love a more modern classic version and for me the answer initially at least is in mop remix, I hated the pandaria expansion and actually quit wow at the time because of it but I have absolutely loved mop remix and there are features in that I would love to see in the classic formula. Would it work long term, not sure all I know it’s been a blast.
