    Nice Z Jay. At 17 lucky me ,my friend had a new one he was afraid of so he would let me drive to do burnouts and race it. I can testify that motor could take a beating. I'd love to hear how that muffler got smashed. Don't remember those safety bumpers though.

    In addition to the transverse muffler, my '69 Z/28 had 2 resonators between the manifolds and muffler.

    • @alexgolovchenko3791
      @alexgolovchenko3791 Před 2 lety

      Hi, Greg. If I'm not mistaken what you're describing is the special order "chambered" exhaust which would mean there were two chambers between the def. and gas tank. Don't know your particular car but that's how they came from the factory.

    • @gregborneman5523
      @gregborneman5523 Před 2 lety +1

      @@alexgolovchenko3791 My Z did not have the optional chambered exhaust. I purchased it from the original owner in December of 1970, and it was completely original, except for 8 inch wide Corvette rally wheels. I distinctly remember the two oval rectangular resonators.

      @@gregborneman5523 Hey Greg, thank you for corresponding. What you wrote is very interesting, the units you described almost sound like California spec catalytic converters. What do you think, I'm interested? I just love talking about cars.
      Regards,
      Alex G.

    • @gregborneman5523
      @gregborneman5523 Před 2 lety +1

      @@alexgolovchenko3791 My Camaro was built in Norwood, Ohio. As some know, Chevy was late getting the 1970 Camaros introduced, and made the '69 models for a brief time longer than normal. I'm pretty sure my '69 was a late production car, and might have had some features not seen on earlier '69s.

    • @alexgolovchenko3791
      @alexgolovchenko3791 Před 2 lety

      @@gregborneman5523 That makes perfect sense. A similar discussion arises concerning the rear bumperettes on the '69\'70 Z/28's. I have it on good authority that of the 19,200 Z's produced in that body style, a small number of them escaped the factory without the rear bumperettes. What's your take on that debate?
