I look forward to you showing the use of sealing wax. I never heard of Tom's Studio, your title is on point! :)
Thanks so much for watching!
Watching now as I'm in Scotland and missed the live. Really enjoying my new discovery of the Wonderful Hemingway Jones. Such a lovely relaxing and interesting watch. I love the Esterbrook notebook. Your penmanship is lovely.
Thank you so very much. You are quite kind. I am happy to have you as a viewer and appreciate the encouragement. All the best.
Always sad I can never watch these live! I work till 5:30pm and get home at around 6pm and am on PST. I love watching the replay however.
If your wife is talking about Kinokuniya then you are going to have a blast! They have a few different locations and I went to their downtown Los Angeles store for my birthday just about a month ago! I swear I spent about 30 minutes just looking at all their paper/notebook options. It can be a little overwhelming at first but you have the time then you should really enjoy it. 1:02:52
I hope these Canadian wildfires don’t hinder your plans. Safe travels HJ!
I think it is that one! Thanks so much. I am so excited to check it out. It sounds very interesting. Thanks so much for watching. One day you will make the live broadcast! Occasionally I do them on weekends. Thanks for being here and all the best.
I am traveling and love the lilliput in my wallet and the kaweco brass for the journal. Excellent choices in my book. Of course the new visconti bronze age has been by my side since I picked it up. Just love holding the visconti. The egyptomania is on my radar and would be so fun at the museum.
Those are great choices. Thank you. The Egyptomania is such a unique pen.
Darn work got in the way of my "me time" and so I missed the live, ugh!
I love eyedropper filling my Franklin-Christoph pens. It is A LOT of ink, so it means I rotate a few of my pens and only ink 5-6 at at time. Given you have so many of your pens inked at once for your channel content, I don't recommend you eyedropper fill - it would takes you ages, and ages between fills!
That is a very good point, Amy! Thanks for watching this one
This pocket pen is both similar to and different from a Kaweco Sport !
It’s the “different from” feature which may attract potential buyers.. (otherwise one can buy a a Kaweco ‘steel’/Raw Aluminum Sport which costs much less)
I’ve collected over 50 pocket pens and I’d certainly like to get this one, but I wish it had been priced under $100..
It is just over $100USD. Maybe they have sales sometimes? It is an interesting pen and I am enjoying using it. Thanks for checking in.
Great show!!
Thank you so much!
Have a safe and creative trip to NYC!
Thank you so much!
The Tom's pen has the form factor of the Ohto Tasche, Moonman N1, Namisu N2, and, ultimately, a traditional travelling dip pen. I do think it's a bit long in posted format, but i think that's the calligraphy focus of Tom's Studio showing through.
Classy pen, and i would like to get one for my No6 Pocket Pen collection eventually, though I'm currently trying to save for a Gravitas Quark.
Hello! That is a spot on analysis. Thanks!
@@HemingwayJones Thank you, sir!
Sorry I missed this live version. Interesting pen. Literature recomendation: The Black Tulip, by Dumas (père). Set abound the the tulip craze of 1636-7 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip_mania When I'm in NYC, I always try to go to MOMA. (And there's a big watch store nearby ;-) )
Hi Tom! Thanks for the recommendations! Much appreciated. I love Moma. Great suggestion. We are also going to the Morgan Library, I believe. Of course, the NY Public Library. I love libraries. Thanks for watching My Friend and keep the book recommendations coming.
1:04:16 You're not the Christopher Walken of fountain pen reviews. You're the Anthony Bourdain of fountain pen reviews.
Oh, I like that! Thank you so much!
Yeah, something I like about this hobby is watching people from different regions and backgrounds United in a common cause.
Absolutely! Thank you! I may lean into that and do an Anthony Bourdain inspired episode.
how fun, can't wait to watch, thanks Hemingway
Thank you!
Great video, maybe you can stop the fountain 🖋️ hospital. Montblanca 149,lamy sarfari,,frank in Oswego I'll.

Nice!
@@HemingwayJones thanks
Hi. Really great show. Just be sure it's okay to eyedropper that particular pen, the ink can react Badly with metal pens. You need to pack your Pilot custom 823?🤗 Cheers from Australia.
823 is an awesome pick! Thank you! They recommend eye dropping so I am assuming it’s fine. It I believe it is made of aluminium so I imagine the ink inside could not be worse than Coca-Cola in a can. I am curious to try! I have not used an eye dropper before. We’ll see! Very nice to hear from you, John.
HJ, Nice show. It sounds like you are ready to join the eyedropper pen club!
Yes! I can’t find the Silicon though. I have the Preppy and the Zepra, and the eye dropper but cannot find the seal. I’m sure I will! I get absentminded sometimes.
@@HemingwayJones Silicone is not a must when you have a nice gasket like that, and I bet the metal body is not supposed to rust, but there's a more annoying danger lurking.
Eyedropper pens famously "burp", or "sneeze" ink in certain situations, most commonly when the air bubble in the body gets warmed up and expands while the nib is facing down, and the expanding air pushes out ink. That happens when you hold your pen with something warmer than the room temperature (let's say your hand or any other body part as an example). With a thick plastic resin barrel you may be ok, but with a thin metallic body you better have blotter paper in reach at all times. I had this happen with thin plastic pens (ABS, acrylic or vegetal resin), there is little you can do about it. Either keep your pen always 80%+ full to keep the air bubble to a minimum, or remember to warm the pen in your hand upright for half a minute before flipping it to write, or use it only in warm weather, closer to body temp. It could become tedious.
So try the Kaweco converter I say. skip the Kaweco squeeze, they are awful.
wax seals get caught (and may cause expensive mulfunctions) in the mail systems' sorting machines. really bad idea to put them on the outside of envelopes!
Exactly! I said that I never do that. I always put mine inside. Other people do though. Romantics! I love them.
Brutal Rickroll! 🤣😂🤣
😂 Thank you!
Did we just get rick-rolled during the stream?
Yes! 😂
@@HemingwayJones 😂😂😂
When you are on Pen Boy Roy, I hope your constitution can tolerate the potty-mouthness!!!
That doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I celebrate everyone as I find them.
