    I used to have a 1985 com-pac yacht sailboat… 19 foot. Inside the cabin were four opening bronze ports. Twist a wing nut and swing them open. I loved that boat so much and strangely… I miss that metal.

    Just a tip: the spare nib units for Kaweco ALSport, Brass Sport, Dia2, Steel Sport, Special and Student are all of type 060 and can be un-screwed from the pen section without removing the feeder from the tiny black cilinder. The same goes for the replacement nibs of Supra and Original, only those nibs are found as 250 replacement nibs.
    Removing only the feeder and nib is more convenient for the cheapest plastic Kaweco sports where you can buy replacement nibs only with the plastic colour section and you do not want to end up with two different colours in one pen.

    I was between the bronze sport pen and the steel sport.
    But when i hold them in my hand , it was instant love with the bronze sport.
    If you can spent the money don't hesitate to buy the bronze.
    You will not regret it.
    Also bronze and other copper alloys are natural antimicrobial materials.
    Great video as always.

    Almost the same thing happened to me when I ordered my Kaweco Sport Bronze. I ordered it from a european pen store I have shopped at before. The website said it would ship in 4 - 5 business days, but the day after I had ordered it, I got a message from them saying that I was out of stock and that it would take 1 to 2 weeks before they got new stock.
    Then 2 weeks passed with no new news from them, so I wrote to them, because I had since then seen that some websites and youtube videoes listed it as Limited Edition, so I was afrain that I was too late. The response I got from the store was that the the pen was not a limited edition and that they would be able to fulfill my order, they jyst hadn't had any new news from Kaweco yet. I believed them since this is a store that specializes in stationary and writing instruments, so they must knowm right?
    Then a week later I got a message from the store saying that the message from Kaweco was that the pen had been discontinued, and the store wouldn't be able to fulfill my order after all. So I guess that pen was a Limited Edition after all.
    I feel like that store wasted 3 weeks where I perhaps could have gotten the pen from somewhere else. I actually ended up getting it from Amazon i Germany (it still looks like they have a couple left in stock, last I checked, incase others are interested). I would have preferred to get it from some pen store, rather that from some big online retailer like Amazon, but I feel like I was under pressure to find somewhere that still had it in stock.
    In regards to the pen itself, it is absolutely beautiful. I haven't inked mine up yet, I am still waiting on a converter I have ordered for it. I also have a bronze clip for it, but after having seen your video with the gold clip, I am having second thoughts, peerhaps I should order a gold clip for it 🙂

      We have had a very similar experience, it seems. I quite like the gold clip. I enjoy shiny things. I should try it with the bronze too. Maybe when I do the full review I can switch it up. Thanks so much for watching and congratulations on a great pen purchase!

    2. I'm proud of you for taking your Egyptoexpensiva out into the wild world.

    Hello HJ. Just watched the replay of this video. Although I don't own a Kaweco, I found the video to be quite entertaining. Like I said before; I only own nine fountain pens and to begin to consider purchasing a tenth, it would need to be very special. Besides, you cannot own every type of pen although some people come close. I feel that I must use them all and I do this by alternating the pens, all with different colored inks, of course in my daily journal writing. This way I can condone having all the pens that I do. But I am getting off topic. Great show. Really loved it. Have a good time in the Big Apple. Cannot wait to see the videos that come out of it.

    • @HemingwayJones
      @HemingwayJones  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thanks for the kind words! Was that the converter for the Bronze? It’s the Kaweco Sport mini piston one. It holds a tiny amount of ink, but I don’t mind.

  • @ianmedium
    @ianmedium Před rokem +1

    Bronze is a lovely tactile material, it develops a lovely oily deep green with tints of green over the years and there is a softness one does not get with brass which for me is a colder less inviting metal which is probably why so many sculptures of old were made of the material. They also do a copper fountain pen, imagine that over the years developing verdigris!
    I have yet to own a Kaweco but i think thanks to this a bronze one will soon be mine. I just wish pen companies would include a converter as standard as most fountain pen users are enthusiasts who prefer bottled ink. I don´t use cartridges for the reasons of limited boring ink colours and the environment

    • @HemingwayJones
      @HemingwayJones  Před rokem +2

      I’m agree with you completely on converters. It would be nice. Thanks for the thoughtful and interesting comment.

    When you are looking for all metal pens, don't overlook Karas Pen Co. They make some really nice ones. I have an INK V2 in tumbled aluminum with a 1.1 bock stub, and it is soooo nice. They test all their pens before they go out. The package includes a lovely handwritten note. It is more an industrial age pen instead of a bronze age one though.But I can't recommend them enough.

    • @mmzeeman
      @mmzeeman Před rokem +1

      @@marachristian8726 Their pens are a little bit harder to get over here in Europe, because they have to be imported. I really like the pen I have from them. It was one of their special offerings (which they seem to have on a fairly regular basis). It will certainly not be my last pen I buy from them. Their nibs also look very cool.

    My bronze arrived yesterday. I find the threads to be sharper than those on the brass. Is that something that should soften with repeated threading on and off the cap? Beautiful color and feel. What is the difference between the 1.1 italic that Kaweco offers and a 1.1 stub?

    • @HemingwayJones
      @HemingwayJones  Před rokem

      Hello and yes, you are right about that. A bit sharper, a bit more precise, and the material feels almost taut. The metal sings sometimes, rings a bit like a small bell. Feels enclosed and luminous. An italic should have square shoulders while a stub has rounded. They call this a calligraphy nib and it feels italic, but not like a cursive. I don’t think Kaweco makes a straight forward round sided 1.1mm stub, but I could be wrong.
