Very well produced video. One of your best. The pen is very beautiful and appears to be high quality and the fact that you like, have it, and used it and will get it. If good enough for me. I would like to see you do some more of these History videos, from different fountain pens. I hope you can.
Thanks Man, Thanks for watching!
The closeups of writing with that pen are intriguing. It looked magically smooth.
Thanks!
Very balanced view, HJ! and it is a beautiful pen.
Thanks for watching.
Hello HJ. Great video. You were correct, the loop cam was creative. Never have I seen it done before. That is what makes your videos so interesting. You think of different ways to entertain. Has for ink on your hands, this to me is a badge of honor. It shows the world that you embrace fountain pens as your form of writing. Interesting pen. It appears to have merit for the price point. Keep the videos coming my friend.
Thanks very much, My Friend! I appreciate it.
Wow. Just wow. What an amazing looking pen. And looks like it writes most excellently. On my wish list!
I love it! Thank you for watching!
I'm sold. It will be my #1 Pen.
So cool to see Omas come back this strong! Best of luck to them!
Thanks for watching
Buona sera HJ - what a beautiful pen and another extraordinary video. Bravo! Always educational, thought-provoking and entertaining. And inky fingers are always part of the fun, at least for me!
Many thanks! That’s why I am here. Thank you!
I did not know much about Omas, appreciate the history.
Thanks!
What an enthusiastic video and gorgeous pen. 💜 Thank you!
Thank you! I’m glad you liked the video!
I follow from Bologna, I have a vintage Ogiva Extra myself, a present from graduation, and I have to hear of the new life of Omas from Hemingway Jones. The world is small. Thank you. Have fun onyour trip to Italy.🤩
Hello and thank you! Always love knowing that there are Italian connections. Thanks for the kind words!
I have the same ink in a blue transparent Wingsing 629.
I have this ink actually in a Jinhao 9019
You sir are an enabler, your video made me order this pen😉
Whoopsie! It is very nice. I am using it at this very moment. I hope you enjoy it!
Appropriate finale choice for the pen...Rhapsody in Blue. Interesting arrangement too.
Thanks so much! That song needs to swing! It’s the Marine Corp Band, which is the only way I was able to use it. Thanks!
Thanks, HJ. That is a gorgeous pen!
Thank you!
It's a very beautiful color 😍
It really is! It changes in the light too which is cool.
Beautiful pen and fantastic color
Thanks Man!
Gorgeous pen, lovely review! Thanks. Very well done on the loupe shot. Have a great weekend.
Thanks so much and thanks for noticing!
Thanks for the video! Even if your channel is expensive to watch. :D
The story of OMAS is interesting, I knew some of it but your brief history put things into order. Good to know that both halves of the former company are passionate enthusiasts.
I found Scribo, twice... They make an amazing pen. Now the new OMAS is also on the short list.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks very much for watching!
こんにちは ♪ ・A beautiful city, beautiful inspection staff, and beautiful writing - I thought it was a wonderful fountain pen.👍
Thank you very much!
Wow. That is extraordinary! So gorgeous.
Thank you! Cheers!
I have such admiration for the various ways you use your pens. And, what a lovely pen. And, yes, what an amazing extra-fine nib. I may say that although I do love when the original (enough) family/company produces pens (hallo, Familie von Faber-Castell!; hey, mates, Yard-O-Led!), I fully appreciate that when an entrepreneur from a fountain pen using culture acquires a brand in danger of extinction in a smartphone culture, we are blessed.
Truly! Thanks so much for the kind words.
Greetings from across the pond my friend! Tell Helen we are loving her country! Covent Garden is amazing, we love it here!
Wonderful! So glad you are having a nice time!
That pen is beautiful!!! The flow looks incredible for an EF nib. Your Italian sounds great ❤️
It really is! Thanks so much.
Love the pen and love Rhapsody in Blue. Wonderful touch.
Thanks very much!
Beautiful pen! Love the color! Don't think I've ever seen a nib that long! Reasonably priced, too!
Thank you!
Wonderful video thanks
Thank you too
Great video Hemingway. My favorite ink and one of my favorite brands . Greetings from Madrid
Thanks for watching! And for the kind words.
Good Afternoon Hemingway! Thanks for showing us the Profound and pretty profundo! Blue pens just do it for me! Very nice that you covered the history of Omas at the beginning of the video! Learned a lot. Plus, I got to hear excerpts from my favorite Mozart piece throughout! Come Hemingway! Come and join us on the dark side, with fine and extra-fine nibs! Good ones are REALLY nice! I even have one on a vintage Parker that is an XXF! In any event thanks again for the great content!
Thanks so much! I am glad you enjoyed it! I really like this EF. It's quite nice!
Such a great review, nice balance and the extra bits about the brand history is enjoyable.
I dream of owning an OMAS pen specially the 360
It seems the new OMAS will re-release the 360 on August... I hope they live up to their legacy :,)
Thank you so much! I am so glad you enjoyed this video. Thank you!
Beautiful. My favorite OMAS, that I own, is the 360 -- I missed out on buying it when it was made, but years later, I got one used. I wish someone would bring this design back (triangular body!). Thanks for the video. I;ve been to Italy twice -- a two week bicycle tour of Tuscany, and later a two week stay in Sicily including a cooking class each day for lunch. A wonderful thing about Italy is how the different regions are different -- and have different food. Enjoy Italy.
Good choice! Thank you!
The Omas 360 is coming back as per their new website.
Lovely pen and how lucky Italy is to have Omas and Aurora. I've an Optima in Viola Aureloide and it's superb, sharing many features with your Omas. Perhaps a comparison video at some point would be of interest. As always keep up the great work and please, more Helen. Perhaps Helen's pens? ❤
More Helen! Nice! I did do her collection a while back. I am sure I’ll bring her back again at some point. Which comparison would you like to see OMAS v Aurora?
Enjoyed the video Hemingway. I have an Ogiva version of this pen bought from Cult Pens a month ago. I've been using the medium nib regularly, and have loved every minute. The material is a bit ordinary, and I wish I'd waited for the Bologna model; and who knows, I might add another Omas to my collection some time in the future. I love the piston filler, very smooth; I thought that the ink level would be visible through the translucent barrel, but it isn't. Omas should consider adding a proper ink window. I'm happy with the value for money, it's a lovely pen; it does what it's designed to do; it writes like a dream..
Thanks very much! I’m glad you liked the video. The celluloid ones look even lovelier. Thanks!
My first Italian pen was a Stipula mechanical pencil. I wish there were more Italian mechanical pencils.
Sounds interesting!
Great video HJ. I’m not an extra-fine nib person myself but I do own an Omas Extra circa 1947 with an EF nib and that also is amazingly smooth.
Thanks so much! Your pen sounds cool! 😎
Beautiful pen! Will have to try one next time at Atlas.
You should!
Hi Debby. I mailed a letter to you this morning.
@@robertcalkjr.8325 I look forward to receiving it! Thank you!
@@debbypodgorski4144 You're welcome. Scott mentioned you in his letter to me, so I wrote you. I mailed a letter to him this morning also.
Nice video, loving the "loop view"
Glad you liked it! Thanks very much! I had fun with that shot and I saved the template for it, so I will use it again. All the best!
What a beautiful pen, maybe wen going to Italy you can pick up a few more pens
I am considering that! I am going to meet up with Stiliograph Corsani in Roma. It should be fun. He is a gentleman.
Beautiful pen and with a wet smooth extra fine nib? Like winning the lottery! I find a fine nib much more forgiving when I am writing a check or signing documents (more room to maneuver). A real help for fountain pen newbies (like myself). Solid value for the money and real class.
Thank you very much! Thanks for watching.
Nice video, HJ. That is a beautiful pen, and I am very tempted, but how to justify the cost. Thanks for the history lesson. Knowing about the company background is helpful. Now I want to visit Italy again!
Thanks so much! Italy is so lovely!
Nice pen and review Hemingway! I'd love for someone to review the Omas flex nib that Goldspot is offering with their frosted demonstrator Ogiva. As far as I know they are the only place that has that 14k flex nib. And it's only in the gold trim. Italy and Germany to me are making some of the best fountain pens.
I wish I could help with that! Thanks for watching.
I always wanted an original Omas in one of their stunning celluloids, they made some of the most beautiful celluloids in my opinion. The pen you featured is attractive and seems a worthy effort. I would purchase one of the "New Omas" pens if the material really caught my eye. Many of the brands that exist today are not the original company, if the newly formed company produces quality in the vein of the original, we are fortunate to have them around. Nice review.
Thank you! I would love one of those as well. I may pick one up from Peyton Street Pens sometime. I love that material. The modern OMAS makes some from celluloid through ASC but they are pricey and I haven’t tried one.
Very nice pen. And entertaining review. I own one OMAS pen - a DS, which I think is a school pen, but has lovely lines. The nib requires work. 😞
That is never fun! Thanks for watching my friend and I hope you sorted that out.
Music on point.
Thanks!
It’s certainly a pretty blue and I love your ink pairing. It’s beautiful, writes well, and Italian. Checks the boxes. However, the more I get into this world of fountain pens, the longer the list of “really nice pens” gets. I don’t feel there’s enough in this one to make it different from others in its class. Would I buy it, no, but only because I already have similar pens in my collection. Great loupe shot! It worked well! Nice job, H.J.
Thanks for watching!
Can you please consider reviewing the WALDMANN GRANDIER? A pen store pushed one on me for my birthday fountain pen purchase. And I've low key fallen in love. I want to see if others dig it too. I don't see any CZcams reviews of it. I have the black color one with an 18k gold nib
I would love to! I just need to get a hold of one.
I think I’ll wait to see how the brand is going in the next few years. The link to the Pen Family is a concern of mine and those of us who are in the know, will understand why one maybe a bit wary.
But I do wish frank the best of luck.
So, what is up with the Pen Family?
Nice - it respects legacy and has a modern fill mechanism.
Thanks Man! It hits all the right notes.
Lamy books have an 8 mm line - easier writing - the A6 booklet is an easy fit in hip pocket or similar.
Planning to get an Omas next month.
Nice! Wish you the best with it.
Planning to still want an Omas next month. And the month after. And the month after. Etc., etc. I also want a Pelikan M800 (blue stripe) but I not willing to shell out +US$100 more for that, either. At some point -- and US$350 goes well beyond it -- a fountain pen is just not worth the money to me. Of course, to others it's just pocket change. God bless the fountain pen makers, they are on to something here. (Like tulips, the infatuation will evaporate. The Omas and Pelican pens will be sold for a rational price. I'm afraid, though, I won't be around to enjoy the discounts.
This is a very enjoyable video. My only gripe, not only with this review, but with the trend to pens being received from Manufacturers for review that ensure a perfect condition. I would love to see reviewers purchasing their own pens, randomly, as do consumers, and then review them. There would then be much more credibility ascribed to the review. The reviewer can then turn around and sell the pen to recoup most of the costs.
That is true, but I can tell you that they really don’t check their pens when they send them. Maybe the better ones do, but I have had mediocre pens from bigger brands. Or at least that’s how it seems. But I think it is true that it can be a factor
II do buy some of my pens as well and always say which. I want you guys to have that knowledge. You also have the ability to have your pen checked before shipping. You should be asking people like Brendan Schmidt from Atlas to check your pen. This pen is awesome. Truly. I will never sell it. Also, one very important thing you should know, I wish it were terrible. I would rather expose a brand for being awful so more people watch. I want you to watch the video. That is my only concern. My product is your entertainment and to have you watch informative videos. That’s why I am here. Thanks for watching and for the great comment.
@@HemingwayJones Thank you for the sincere clarification.
@@michaelbeer1522 Thank you for being here.
If you haven't figured out by now---virtually all pen companies that you purchase from can be a crap shot as to how nice the nib writes right out of the box. I only own 14 fountain pens from Visconti, Pelikan, Pilot, Lamy, S.T. Dupont, etc and I'd say about 6 of those pens were sent away to a nibmeister to modify for near perfection. Three out of the four Pilot pens I own were perfect out of the box; the other was a 912 with an FA nib that had to modified along with an aftermarket feed (I believe Pilot has the best quality control in the business) The only way to guarantee a perfect fit for you is to try one in person. Living in Montana, I never get to try one until it is in my mailbox. But what I like to know most of all is the reviewer happy with his sample and if he is, I know it is possible to get a perfect fit for me by having a nibmeister get that last little bit tweaked. It appears the Bologna is a pen worthy of purchase no matter how the nib performs right out of the box (of course it would be great to receive a pen that is as good as what we see in this review).
Good video...I'd pass on the pen
I only care that you like the video! Thanks!
I like the pen, but we don't even know where exactly is it produced. Aurora, Visconti, Montegrappa, Leonardo are all a lot more transparent companies.
@HomerIncognito..Truth be told, this supposed ‘OMAS’ pen is for all intents and purposes, a Nahvalur rebranded as OMAS with a Chinese nib (again branded as OMAS). What a total sham!
@@sajjadhusain4146 yeah, the price is too good for what it's supposed to be. Relatively large 14k nib, ebonite feed, piston filler and nice material... This kind of pens cost more if they're made by Italian companies. At least partially it has to use Chinese components.
The new Pelikan M1000 renaissance brown cost more than twice that much. Is the new Pelikan M1000 worth every penny you think?
You got a bone folder!
I did. A Lovely Member sent it to me! Yay! But I am having folding bones with it. They are hard to fold. (kidding)
Would I be interested? Does a bear poop in the woods? Oh yeah.
Nice! All the best.
No more Suk Serenade for strings? 😪
What did I use? i don't remember! I don't always use the same thing.

Sir. Has anything happened?
You seem down.
I’m fine. Thanks for asking.
