I used to work at a salvage yard here in IA and when the crusher showed up, it was hard to pay attention to my job, just so fascinating to watch them get the squish!
I live in mo and I sometimes go to pick n pull junk yards most of the time usually just to watch the forklift operator set vehicle in crusher then see crusher do it's thing ,so I know what you mean
They don't usually put empty center beam cars on the front end of the train. They normally go on the back end because if they're too light when going around a curve, they can derail. To add to that, if there are too many center beam cars in the middle of a string of cars, and they're empty, the heavier cars at either end of them can cause them to be pulled sideways and go off the rails due to them not having enough weight to keep them down. Full ones not so much of a problem.😁👍👍
That was cool seeing EMD GP units for Kansas City Southern road! Here in the PNW I've only seen more modern GE KSC locomotives (paired with CP, BNSF, &/or CSX engines). Neat seeing those GP units without dynamic break option (all the EMD GP locomotives in the PNW have dynamic breaking for the numerous mountain ranges in Northern California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana). Back in 2000,they was a huge Railroad switch yard across the roadway from the side of a Daewoo car dealership we ran in Montclair California ,use to watch the trains quite often, one section ran away once & rolled about 14 miles or so & derailment had happened & made a total mess ,flying lumber rained down everywhere wrecking cars ,houses business as well as the tracks
6:42 ,paint cans,thinner ,asphalt & tar as well as oil 🛢 makes a really disgusting mess in the crusher, the forks ,the ground as well as the transport truck 🚚, sometimes leaks out going down the roadway where motorists cars get it on them & then file a claim for damages against you & your insurance, also can get fined by DOT, which sucks ....yeah definitely take it out when in doubt! ,also a fire 🔥 hazard as well
The artwork on some of those RR cars is amazing.
Was fun watching the engines. See those all the time including the KCS stuff, they get around.
