If you go to war with Czechoslovakia instead of dividing it, if you time it right and save enough PP, you can ramp up to War Economy / Extensive Conscription due to size of their military/economy. I found this helpful for facing the soviets later.
Great guide per usual, too bad I figured out most of this a few weeks ago on my own.

“We’re putting the band together” is heavily RNG-ised, you need to become the Ottoman sultunate, and be lucky that Germany does the civil war & brings back Austria-Hungary.

I'd say restoring Austria-Hungary is much, much more rng based.
I have tested your strategy and it is really working perfectly for me to the point of giving Besserabia, there even with your preparations and your templates I can't keep the Soviets out without them controlling northwestern Romania. Do you have any extra advice other than what was done in the video?

You can borrow Bulgarian and Hungarian troops to help if you need

I got these two achievements today, with all DLC, including NSB. Some tips for anyone who tries them:
-You can release almost all of Yugoslavian puppets and if you turn them into integrated puppets you can get a lot of mils for free. Just be careful to not release Serbia as it has to count for the achievement.
-Be aware of naval invasions from the Soviets. In my game they invaded the Aegean Islands and Greece, but then retreated through the ports (weird). But since they controlled the states for a while, resistance and compliance got really messed up and it took me one more year to keep it under control.
-Whenever you can, use armored cars for garrisons and complete the garrison template with cavalry. I had to go for Service by Requirement anyway, but you can save up a lot of infantry equipment for frontline divisions. Having 10 or 15 factories on them can give you 1k surplus easily, and you can use the compliance you get for factories and resources to eventually build on Bulgaria and Hungary, in order to annex them later.
-You actually don't need to annex your Slovakian puppet; in my playthrough Hungary controlled Southern Slovakia , which is a Czech core. Just build and lend lease on them, then annex them.
-Research tactical bombers and use them to strat bomb behind enemy Soviet lines. Factories and supply depots are good targets.
-Regarding tanks, Medium tanks with armor value of 9 are almost impenetrable for the Soviets. Just be aware of supplies in the region you deploy them and try to always go for the supply depots and attack along the railway lines.
-By capturing the Caucasus, the Stalingrad area and Kazakhstan, and pushing through the Urals, you can have almost 40% war participation. If you don't have enough, puppet Ukraine in the Polish occupied territories and then annex them.

15:22 I believe that only happens when Czechoslovakia denies the split and you have to go to war and get a puppet out of the peace deal, in which case Germany's focuses still apply.
I was following this guide, and the mustache man ended up declaring on Slovakia well before Danzig or War, which given my shield of puppets let him with exactly two tiles he could attack. In a turn of events best suited to that domino meme, Italy capitulated to France in 1939, and the game ended up me and the Allies vs Germany and ussr.
Also a stack of 10 width mountaineers with support companies is hilariously impossible to penetrate on that section of mountain tiles at the Poland/Slovakia/ussr border

Romania is actually super powerful if built up correctly. You can get 1944 fighters in 1940 if you go down the aviation focus tree.
As a French, watching you extend your fort line and stop at tiles thought to be impassable gave me PTSD
I tried to follow the steps..... ended up in a war against Italy because they made a faction with Hungary before I took them, I eventually won the war in 1943. Then, I went for Germany since they were weak, I won in about 4 months, so I got the achievement "neither death nor dishonour" pretty easily. But I had to fight the soviets, I won, in 1947 because of the colaboration governaments. I wish I never played this game :D
3:08 i think maybe get 400k soldiers then delete 2-4 divisions so that number goes down after u selected the focus maybe they wont accept and u can annex them idk if it works tho

Great guide as always! I did this two some time ago and Germany never declared on the USSR. Way more difficult, but still doable. Just don't join the Allies or you won't be able to get a Polish state.

In Jan 1939 I got Italy into my faction (as I created one earlier) before they joined the axis.
Well, I've just started watching these videos, and I really love your style of presentation...it is very informative and entertaining (not an easy combination).
I did think perhaps an appropriate suggestion for a video would be for you to play as Belgium, in The Road to 56 (they actually have a unique tree in the mod) and go for forming the Benelux to make the world safe for Bruyerre.
I'm so bad at this game but your videos always make me want to reinstall it and try getting better.

I guess they changed things in all the updates over the last 2 years since I had all the major cities, Collaboration government all the way researched, and all it gave me was 90% capitulation, with us at the base and steps of the Ural Mountains before the Germans crumbled from England invading through Rome (As usual) and the Soviets countered attack, wasting yet another run after 6-8 hours of playing.
Amazing tutorial, I love your video's and always follow them! I guess the RNG kicked in and told me to (beep) myself as usual with this game.

Was watching your endsieg streams and was going to comment there but I can’t imagine you would see it since they are older vods. Incase you ever play endsieg again, you can defintley get the courland pocket out. I’ve played the mod 4 times and have only not been able to build a port once

"Now all we have to do is cap Russia." How the hell do you keep doing it so quick? Playing Axis Poland now, even with a full army group of infantry it took me until August of 1945. It didn't help that when I joined through the focus tree I lost most of my production until I could gain back my autonomy, but still. I had the troops and micromanaged as much as I could without dying of boredom, but every province past Moscow was a bitter slog. Now that I think about it, conquering in tandem with the Axis rather than as part of it is probably easier. I love spy stuff, so I payed the 50 PP to become Spymaster as soon as possible, and promptly discovered that Uncle A prepared precisely zero collaboration government contacts.
Here's the kicker, though. It's August of 1945. We're fighting off Operation Overlord and trying to liberate Italy, beating back advances in the Balkans and marching through Turkey to cut off Allied supply lines. We finally beat the Soviets, I manage to take a healthy amount of new core territories for mighty Poland. No sooner do we leave the peace conference and muster our armies to take the fight out West, but Germany's brand new puppet Russian Empire, operating out of some cave in Tannu Tuva, turns traitor and joins the Allies! I have to check the war screen to find out for sure, but I'm almost certain that there are no other fascist nations working with Churchill. The world is going off the rails, and if nothing changes before October I'm just going to declare war on Russia and finish them off once and for all.
I ended up guaranteeing Finland, was pushing into Russia hard, but the Germans cut me off at the caucuses.... No Moscow
So I snuck my armies to the Hungarian border region (my puppet), and made a great noodle march with tanks to Berlin after justifying on Germany
Lost my tanks... All of them... Lost 2 armies... Lost the war........ GOT THAT DAMN ACHEIVMENT THOUGH!! (many attempts... Many, many attempts lol)
What a frustrating achievement... But rewarding when you pull it off... Especially if the guides don't work, which I tried, but you end up just fumbling into your own path of success lol
You don't have to occupy all of Yugoslavia. You can still get the achievement if you hold one of Yugoslavia's core states e.g. Montenegro or Macedonia. Nevertheless another great guide and another achievement down the list :)
Actually this achievement has become a lot easier now because Bulgaria won't steal your land anymore when you join the Axis. I just tried it out and got it on my first try

@@agustingonzalezbisso5989 Yup, it works. I got the Achievement using this method and Bulgaria didn't take any of my lands and I was able to get all the territories I need whilst still being in the Axis

Coming back after taking a break from hoi4 for a few months and having the new dlc and playing Romania for the first time was an interesting experience. Didn't get the achievements, didn't join any faction though both the allies and axis invited me at different points. It's 1945, I'm huge own Siberia as puppets, own the caucuses and some weird caucus states as puppets, and southern Russia as well. Germany took most of Russia though. I somehow managed to get the third strongest army with Germany being #1 and Japan #2. The axis is insanely strong, so much so that I don't think the allies stand a chance. I'm probably just going to end the game there since I'm now at peace after conquering ussr alongside germany and Iran. Trying to fight Germany would be extremely tedious given my now super long border with them and the fact that they're at least twice as strong. Joining the axis to fight the allies and conquer the US and UK are things I've done before and don't really feel like doing again with the new logistics system. So I might start a new campaign and try again. But getting both achievements in one run is nearly impossible.
I personally feel that you absolutely don’t need to keep using iron man mode! It sounds INCREDIBLY time consuming to have to re-record entire videos because footage failed. I believe that you wouldn’t cheat or save-scum the RNG in a tutorial, and I’m sure plenty of others feel the same
It's maybe the pinnacle of dumb ideas... but if you need war score, can't you try to strategicly bomb the sovjets to get up to 1000 points of war participation. I obviously never tried this tho.

How many attempts does it usually take to record a video?
Depends on the topic. Sometimes the RNG is so insane, I need like a dozen tries to account for all the bullshit the AI can do. Other times it's done in 1 g

Ah, another video. A good day... Also i got kinda used to the break so the increased content pleases me.
I have just gotten the achievements. Bulgaria refused being puppeted (possibly because all my army was training at their border and the IA thought i was weak ? Possible exploit ?). So I could annex them and join the Axis when the Czech also refused and we attacked them with Germany. In the end Germany déclared on USSR to protect Finland in 1940 before they even reclaimed Bessarabia.

Hi, may I request a gameplay that may look boring for you but could be of a great value for the noobs like myself? Could you make a video of a "classic" play-throughs, without hunting for special achievements, but rather just sticking to (more or less) the storyline? So, let's say, playing as a democratic US, fighting in both west and east, then taking over the USSR, playing as USSR vs Germany, then Japan, then Allies? The cheese videos are very fun, don't get me wrong, but it would be rather valuable to see your "normal" play. Thank you and - again congratulations on the birth of your son!

If you don't want Bulgaria shenanigans, I think you can just disable the Battle for the Bosporus content pack. Should set the Bulgaria focus tree back to generic.
i don't know why but in Thrace state when i wanted to build some military factories it said that i can build a max. of 20 military factories
did you check the puppet autonomy. maybe that's why you cant build them

I don't know how to to put this. But what do you do when Germany loses against the Allies over Danzig and War? Poland took Berlin/Brandenburg, gave it to the British, Germany managed to get big encircled and is now fighting for its survival :O All my stuff is set up perfectly. Time to take on the mighty Stalin Union on my own :D
Well, you can take the reds solo...bit unusual to see Germany lose that hard, that early
Instead rushing moscow, I would rather rush to minsk and join the axis, that would make german forces fill the gaps on the rushing zone and the territory after minsk would come to me not germany, still has the bulgaria problem tho, but I think it could be solved by focusing really hard on annexing after puppeting
Personally I like going non historical, where Hungary will often go Austria Hungary. Wait until they unify with Austria and then invade them, that way you get Austria for free, and when you demand the Czechs and they say no, and you win, becuase Austria Hungary has cores you can give them everything for really cheap except for Sudatenland.
Also if the Soviets have a civil war which is quite common on non-historical, and they don’t start in Odessa, you can invade the og Soviets side and try and take Moscow in that peace deal. Even better if it’s the White Russian civil war, because they can’t start their post civil war focus tree until they have Moscow, meaning it knocks them out as a major power entirely
Just completed this. I went without tanks (sorry) I just find infantry easier to get the resources for. I used the Royal Guard template for my 7/2s. It worked fine. I managed to cut out the Germans taking Leningrad then went East. Having completed the achievements things went badly as Turkey then declared without warning on me, joined the axis and before I was prepared Italy and Germany were charging in.

it has to be a whole Hungary, if you have taken a piece of them before puppeting they wont join and you have to use Italy, which kinda sucks, just make sure you click everything you can and have the PP saved up to do so.

It removes the bad parts of King Carol's character. There will be no more bad events.but it also locks you out of the achievement

Theoretically, could you have the troops to start the Bulgaria focus, train 24 infantry without setting a deployment, delete your whole army so Bulgaria says no, deploy the 24 troops right on their border and then attack to annex so you can join the axis?
The focus cancels if you drop below 400k manpower in the field... So no deleting armies unfortunately

As of March 1938 I only have 2 civs in use, and so can't keep up on trade, any remedies for this?
Not so consistent, but if you generate enough world tension justify on Finland so the allies will declare war on the Soviets

Idk how this happened but in 1939 when germany did around the Maginot they got a war goal on Slovakia i tried again and the same thing happened

edit: made it by the skin of my teeth. was able to join the allies and was working on getting the soviets to capitulate. when the soviets almost capitulated turkey decided to declare war on me and they were in the allies so it became a race against time

I was doing great, right on schedule when Germany declared war on my puppet Slovakia and drew Italy into war s well. Needless to say lost Slovakia and most of Greece but hanging in there. Mid 1940 and waiting for Russia to attack. Alas I fear I'm doomed and may have to restart. How do you prevent Germany from declaring war on you or your puppet?

I hate the achievements you can get from Romania. One time, I tried getting all three at once, but early on, Bulgaria submitted to being my subject, and when I joined the Axis they knicked Dobruja or what it is called from me. I ragequit after that and never touched Romania again. Should probably do it again.
