What a wonderful overview of how to paint the official schemes! Love me some pretty bugs
Kraken and Behemoth are the best schemes for Nids imo
so iconic
Hive Fleet Behemoth. Been running and painting them since 5th Ed. White Dwarf had a great painting tutorial back in 7th
It's such an iconic scheme! The brighter the better 😆
All the cute yoshis lol.
That hive fleet hydra meant taking a few too many shortcuts IMO. If you are painting with vallejo model color, the grey chitin probably should not start with black, but some German Grey(70.995) or even fieldgrey (70.830) The blue chitin base, similarly, is probably far better off with Dark Prussian Blue(70.899) or the lighter Blue (70.925) That gets them far closer to the 9th edition codex art, and the good old Space Hulk Genestealers.
Agreed. It looks perfectly presentable, but it really doesnt look like Hydra
I'm going for an Alien xenomorph-ish color scheme based in part upon Midwinter Minis' quick Genestealer color schemes, though for all the armored bits and claws I'm using Green Stuff World's color changing paint _Darth Blue_ to give them an oily, metallic, beetle chitin look to match better with their metallic silver teeth.
I think it looks particularly cool on the hormagaunts _(AKA the Best Gaunts)_ and makes them look super scary. The only problem is that they are all on 25mm bases with a layer of miliput with a factory floor design pressed into them 1) to give them a real Alien feel, and 2) to weigh their bases down because they are bigger than orks and should have always been on 32mm bases (I am expecting GW to put them on 28.5mm for some silly reason).
Say how do you get your Vallejo paints? I can never find a convenient place to buy them
I bought a big hard carry case off Amazon if I remember correctly!
