    Here’s a tip about the Q-tips container you have shown in your video: I have an empty travel Q-Tip box in my backpack and carry “little” things in it, like lucky coins I like to travel with. I also use it to put whatever jewelry I am wearing on travel day in it before going through TSA, so it doesn’t set off the machine. Once I am through TSA, I put them back on, and I didn’t drop it into a random pocket and now have to figure out where it went.

    I had NO idea that meds had to stay in the original bottles with prescription. I was just going to put them in smaller baggies to minimize stuff. Thanks so much for letting me know that. Saved me a lot of TSA headache! 🙏🏾

    I take a few different sized binder clips. Useful if you want to seal up parts of hotel room curtains to black out the light - can use pants clip hangers but sometimes they don't come off the rack. 😂 I've used them to seal bags, too, and hang things from off of airplane seats. They are useful and lightweight to keep with you.
    And carabeeners are very useful, too.

    Last year, I took a solo trip to Tanzania with a stopover in Qatar. Being a nurse, I always diligently pack first aid stuff and all medications into tiny little organizers like you showed. While I was doing final packing the night before departure I somehow thought about a couple of the prescription medications I was bringing and sure enough - they are actually banned in Qatar and you need like a doctor's note (as well as original prescription bottle). Ugh I kind of freaked out and ended up basically stashing them in odd places in my luggage. The whole thing made me a little nervous but alas, not one single check at the airport when I was both coming and leaving. However, it is something to be really careful about. You never know in certain countries - what if they don't like the 'look' of you and then something like this could be used against you and you find yourself in jail. It was a big lesson for me to understand the laws about medications in different countries.

    Nice job Meg, I have contacts so I travel with 3ml saline tubes and use extra contact cases for most of my liquids. I have finally learned to only take what I need and not play the game of taking everything just in case. Oh, and nice guns.

  • @elnamayberry
    @elnamayberry Před 7 měsíci +2

    Other things I would add to your list is body wash & body moisturizer (unless you know your destination hotel provides it or stores are easy to access), and sun block (reef-friendly if you are traveling in the Caribbean). I use a bar shampoo but bring a small bottle of my conditioner. Hand sanitizer is not restricted, so up to 12 fl oz does not need to go in the liquids bag - I clip mine to the outside of my personal bag just so security can see it. If you bring an antibiotic ointment like polysporin or even plain vaseline, that could be considered a liquid so safer to include it in the liquids bag as well. And just to clarify, you can bring a disposable razor in your hand luggage/carry on, but not a safety razor.

    I was in Tanzania in March. Shampoo was readily available but we could not find hair conditioner. I also recommend a doctor's note if you carry any kind of syringe or epipen. I almost had my epipen confiscated in Hong Kong. And if travelling to Japan you should definitely check in advance if your prescription drugs are approved in Japan.

      Any liquid medication can go in it's own bag. I would write "medical" or "medically necessary" on the bag and let the TSA agent who is screening your son know that bag is whatever it is. They're very familiar with things like insulin, so it shouldn't be an issue.

    I’m big on checking bags so I don’t need to worry about this nonsense. Now I’m going to Mexico & must carry-on. The hotel doesn’t provide the large shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers that I’ve grown accustomed to. So, I’m taking my chances & traveling with three bags of “liquids”. Two in each of my bags and I’m giving one to my husband. I’m a middle-aged woman who requires personal care products and I’m not going to apologize for that. If everything is in 3 oz containers, there shouldn’t be a limit.

Funny enough, we were traveling to a mining show in Acapulco when I posted this. Yes, we were there when Hurricane Otis hit. Our hotel was badly damaged & had no running water or power. Made it out unscathed, thanks to the show’s organizers. They arranged buses that drove us to Mexico City.
