As a czech the best conversation about food with foreigner goes like this
Czech: We eat fish and salad on christmas eve.
Foreigner: That sounds healthy.
Czech: Yeah...it does.
to je taky dobrý černý humor :-D
@@josefmalar7837 černý humor ? Dobře no
Zabils hehehe
Fried fish and super fatty potato salad huh? Lol

Dish no. 1...Beer (Liquid bread) :D What a great choice!
Vladimír Lukele Hahahaha 😄💯
@@ArepasforDinner That is also why we say a hunger is thirst in disguise.
I once read a sign outside a pub in Belfast: "Soup of the day: Whiskey". 😂 Not to forget the Irish poor man's seven-course dinner: six-pack and a bag of peanuts. 😂😂😂😂
@@ArepasforDinner tekutý chleba já také rád :D
Wanna see your husband's face after you said: "This is the reason why I live in this country". xD
Hahahaha he was proud believe it or not jajaj
@@ArepasforDinner haha, no doubt xD
you really understand czech food ... so you understand the czech people ...
Chybí na stole řízek s fritama, vepřové vypecky se špenátem a br.knedlikem a třeba i krupicová kaše,jinak všechno na stole vypadá mega lákavě.
No, to by pak na záchodě strávila zbytek života 😁
WARNING ⚠️ do not watch this vid on empty stomach or you will be sorry...as was I 🤪
I as a Czech living abroad for over 20 years have to work on my “dumpling deficit” every time I go home.
For all of those thinking isn’t this a bitt heavy on the stomach? the answer is yes, but don’t worry, there are two excellent remedies for that in every restaurant, they are called Becherovka and Fernet 🤷♂️
PS: you need a raw egg in you’re Tatarák 😉
Hell yes!!! I am now for 4 months in Tbilisi, hungry (because i am lazy to buy smth :D ) and i saw it. I have to go home and get svíčková od babičky. :D Ani knedliky tu neseženu a housky tu nejsou :D
@@007Ivory007 když nemáte housky, tak tam dejte rohlíky.
Oh nooo, the restaurant don't give you on svíčková propper lemon target! There shoud be slice of lemon, on that cranberies and finaly on the top whipped cream :/
Lada Tranová I know I was missing the whipped cream!!! 🤭
@@ArepasforDinner I would also say that the sauce looked like it could have used a little more cream. The lemon is also a necessity, everyone likes their svíčková differently. The veggies its made from make it a little sweet and even though the chef makes sure it is well balanced, they should serve the lemon. Oh and btw the dumpling is mostly made of "coarse flower" and usually has only a small amount of bread in it.
No they should not. I dont like when they put lemon there without any warning :D. This should be fully optional. I cannot eat that even if i put it out becouse its allready contaminated. Its like an annanas on a pizza. Some people love, some hate. Also more creemy sauce is not favourite for everyone. I enjoy this meal exactly as it looks on this video.
@@maarabas Well, that's why it's stacked there, so you can removed it, personally I do not like berries for example, but I like my sauce rich, so I might even pass on extra cream.
@@19Koty96 I love lemons actualy. But for some reason i have a problem when it even touch to beef. When beef is turned into something sour, its ruined for me and even removal does not help :P.
The legend says she is still sitting there, finishing that humongous meal...
Hahahah I was there almost for a week!..
This is making me so hungry... I'm an American, thinking about moving to Czech Republic (to Olomouc) for medical school in English.
Maybe I'll meet a Czech girl just like you met a Czech man! Lol
I met my czech man in Spain!!! hahaha but if you wanna come you will love it!.. Is very different but it has so many perks!
Yes, best part of Czech cuisine is sauces and soups... :)

Greetings from Poland! I gotta say Czech cuisine looks amazing to my Polish taste. I had luck to eat both houskove and bramborove knedliki with various meats and sauces and they are amazing as the staple part of dish.
Indeed! Can’t wait for restaurants to re open to eat this again (I don’t like delivery)
Ty vole dal bych svíčkovou 😀

Přesně mmmmňam. Spucoval bych to všechno.
Normálně to není mezi mými nejoblíbenějšími jídly, ale přesně tohle jsem si řekl když to šla ochutnávat :D

One note on tatarák. It's not only you that should like garlic if you're getting tatarák. Everyone that comes near you in the next 24 hours should also like it otherwise you will be remembered as the person that smells of garlic 😁
aw thats good

Quality of sauce, tells the quality of cook. As the old sayings go.
I am glad you managed to enjoy the day - Czech cuchine is one on the heavy side, where is hard to enjoy multiple recepies at once - especially when mixed with beef tartar.
Quite delicious recepies worth trying are Rajská omáčka (tomato sauce with bread dumplings and meat/or meatloaf slice), Segedínský guláš (sauerkraut and cream goulach with bread dumplings and meatbites), Uzená medová žebra (smoked, honey flavoured ribs with bread), Koprová omáčka - might be liked by vegeterians (cream dill sauce with bread dumplings and boiled egg), and some sweet/sugar tasting recipies - Buchtičky se šodó (special bread-bites in cream-pouding like sauce - \BTW tasting similar as Svatební buchtičky - weding sweet bread), Vdolky (un/filled european donuts with jam and whipped cream on top - you can eat warm or cold and use only hand with no cutlery... :D). Regarding fish recepies, - trout, pike, carp, perch. Czech republic is land-locked, but czechs LOVE water and to some degree the fish dishes. Also, there is (to a degree exclusive) side, called Bramborák - grated potatoes with herbs and garlic (+possibly something extra, not sure with the recepie) merged into mash and afterwards baked like pancakes. Sometimes infused with bits of smoked meat or bits of sauerkraut. Home version is bigger (almost a plate-like size) and is served one after another, "side" version some restaurants use is smaller size (kinda like bread dumpling slice sized) and multiple bramboráks (3+) on a plate. It can be eaten as a main dish, but restaurants tend to sell those with china-like meatbites with vegetables - and sometime sauerkraut, or shaped as a closed pocket with cheese inside. Or even with chicken meat inside - being kind of "schnitzel" made out of bramborák and meat. Hope you will discover foods in czech cookbook, that you may enjoy. BTW - last not least - Big Thank you to Jan for his support to you and steady cameraman hand.
Wow everything sounds amazing! For sure I’ll make a video like this again soon!
@@ArepasforDinner Rajská, Segedín a Koprovka jsou jídla, která jedni zbožňují a druzí proklínají nebo vysloveně nesnáší.
Woow excelente, justo estoy haciendo algo similar en español 😚
Look like that restaurant is really good. Every meal looks done just right.
not rly. Pub isnt any good...
I also don't like to mix it, so I absuletely understand. And if you like fried cheese, I recommend fried hermelin (other type of cheese, very similar to camembert), which is better i think.
This Is actually the first video about something czech on the internet where i didn't found any mistake. Wow. Great vid. Even scratched the garlic on the fried bread!

Hello, i just accidentaly fond your chanel, and i am proud for czech coutry, because we have much of great food. Next time please try Koprovou Omáčku ( because it is fast and eazy to make. And it is one of sauses, that can i make myself * I´m 15* and of course I can make Topinky s Tatarákem :) )
All of the food looked fabulous and really well prepared, my mouth has been watering all along :D and I have really enjoyed the passion you put into tasting and presenting the food.
As for the sauerkraut - the sour-sweet variety is probably more common here, but there are czech dishes that use the more sour variety (like the German one?), for example "kyselica" (a soup made from sour sauerkraut, potatoes, klobasa and cream or sour cream)...
Mmmm I didn't know that... But I defo like the sweet one the most... It's sooo good!.. Can't wait to go to another restaurant and do another giant taste test
I love Czech foodyou make me hungry

You should come over to Lužinský pivovar, it's in a spitting distance from Butovice, in the neighboring area. You'll really love it.

When we stayed in Spain with friends, i wanted to cook sweet dumplings for them. I failed to find the proper flour and they were made from the normal fine one. It tasted so weird, no wonder that dumplings are typical for czech :) (but here i strugle to find the proper flour for arepas :D )
And you need to try Karlovarský knedlík, with herbs and butter :) homemade is the best

There usually is raw egg yolk in steak tartare .You really have to trust the restaurant to get this dish .. just leaving the meat outside of the fridge in the kitchen on a hot sunny day for too long will give you food poisoning and you cannot tell by the smell as the spices mask it really well. Oh yeah and sometimes the egg yolk is left on top for you to mix it in yourself :D
God, this video made me so hungry. What’s the name of the restaurant? Everything looks very well prepared and tasty.
It’s the Pub Prague 13. Nove Butovice

After this video the Pub should return the cost of the food to you. We are going to try their knuckle next time we are in Prague. We usually try it everywhere we find it. Or the ribs! Especially if they are made in a honey-based sauce. But in most places, the skin of the knuckle is not eatable. In your case it looks delicious! I see they have many more things to offer, but the prices are too high for the suburb they are in. In the Prague center I would expect such prices, but not in NB.
It was not bad... 5 main dishes 3 litters of beer and we paid 57 USD (1.400 czk) even my in-laws (Your average czech couple thought was very good) You must come try it!!
👍👍
☺☺
Your husband is right. Next time I recommend you to eat all courses with dumplings in this way. Cut piece of meat, put it on fork with piece of dumplig, add little bit of cabbage. Then soak everything in sauce a put it into your mouth. This way it tastes much better.
It is common mistake of foreigners, they eat everything separately. I saw japanese guy eating dumplings and drinking Coke with every bite, because it was too dry for him 😁. I gave him this advice and he was excited with the new taste 😁
You are a great resource for those of us making the move to Prague. We are in Panama and are fed up. I swear this government wants to model Venezuela. @@ArepasforDinner It's so easy to prepare! :) you need cheese for example Eidam 30% how many pieces you want, then put egg (it depands how many cheeses you will prepare on) to one bowl, soft flour to other plate and '' strouhanka '' it's from milled rolls... you always take cheese and put it to flour, then to eggs and then to ''strouhanka'' and do it again... it's needed to wrap the cheese in these ingredients... you have to do it in this order -> flour, eggs, strouhanka :)
smazak je best :D
