listening to this album now that they have announced the end of their journey...I feel a mix of emotions running through me...a delightful sadness...a sorrowful happiness...a mellow outburst...a raging calmness...this is a perfect album to leave for the fans. Thank you, PATD!
Well said. I think objectively the album wasn't great- but I almost feel like that's part of what makes this album great in its own way. Even if it might not've been Brendon's choice- this album's popularity- or the lack thereof- made it so that only true fans stuck around.

I wanted to like this song. But this sounds like a parody of "all by myself", and "all by myself" is a good song which makes "all by yourself" sounds so silly
this song is good for what it is. it's nice and gives a nicer contrast to the harsher more belty songs on this album.

This is one of the better ones imo. My thoughts are that hes trying to sing too high on every song, like I want to hear more of his lower vocals and I think that a lot of the other songs wouldve been a lot better if he sung a little lower

yeah this is exactly what I've been saying, the strain in virtually every song on this album makes it sound off, almost. like he's singing the wrong notes. its great to be able to sing high but he's gotta know his limits with what sounds good and what doesn't. I've got perfect pitch and while the notes aren't wrong it sounds like they are bc of the strain

You might feel like this but its not about it, its actually about the different style he brought in this album but you're not able to adapt to it and its normal because of the certain change, if you listen to the songs few more time and adapt to the style then it will make sense to you and you'll like it

I saw an interview with him where he said he wanted to make something that could be a rock opera. I think he definitely succeeded, but the negative reviews might have squashed that idea. It’s a shame. This album could be adapted to one hell of a show. I personally love it
I haven't listened to all of the new ones yet but this one might be my favorite. I don't care if he hits the high notes all the time and this one is a good change of pace.

The "wood panel walls" and "rock posters from the mall" made me tear up. I feel like the 17 year old me is being heard for the first time ever.

And the lyrics omg i felt that "dyed it pink to piss them off.." because i remember being that "pick me girl" when i was a teen, pretending to be edgy and cool but i did that all just to be seen cause i felt so unimportant in my own life. I love that there's acknowledgement and acceptance in this song, no judgement 💜

Can we just talk about how he tops his own vocals with every album PATD! puts out! He hits some of the hardest notes on the planet in every song on this album! In "Sad Clown " there's literal proof of that!
and people have still the courage to say he's straining his voice and he's a bad singer. This album is just a proof to show everyone that his vocals are the best they have ever been.
@@Ele__02 this record sounds raw because it's recorded to a tape. If PFTW and DOAB or Into The Unknown were recorded to a tape, they would sound like this. Modern recording uses autotune, reverb, and pitch correction to smooth the vocal.

I think panic needs to do a baroque rock musical. Much more room for a full suite of storytelling in musical theatre, and this newest album feels very musical/queen inspired. It just feels like the direction this is heading.

I waited until midnight, listened to VLV and I still can't find a word to describe what I felt. I am totally speechless. What I know is that... I felt like Brendon was with me all the time. Because the words described my bedroom, my walls, myself... "All by Yourself", this feeling of not wanting the day to end, "live a life in a day", "Sitting downstairs in your room/Wood-panel walls/Rock posters from the mall/Playing just for you"... that was me listening to the entire VLV. I cried so hard, I didn't feel alone. He was there, he is seeing all of us. All of the pretty odds and wicked who find courage and shelter listening to music before we go to bed. "Three minutes thirty seconds of a rock and roll record"... How many of us feel like that?
That's what I most love about Panic!. They give a home to the lonelies, to the weirdos, dreamers... Probably Brendon was feeling so alone in these moments he is telling us throughout the whole album, but he made us not feel the same. He gives us the hug he probably did not have.
P!ATD, thank you so much for such a surreal spiritual journey. Every detail of your work is a piece of art. This is not a moment, it's a movement.
