The hate for this album is so weird to me, and I'm not even a die-hard fan. I liked maybe two songs from the previous record so I figured maybe all the negative attention VLV was warranted, but no... I'm blown away by most of these tracks. I'm taken aback by how well he's captured so many different eras of Panic! in just one album... Hopefully people will come around and listen again!
As a die hard fan I appreciate this. I love this album so much. Its definitely a bit different from previous material but I feel like every panic album is completely different from any other.
I think a lot of people hate this album cause its different from the older stuff like this is a bit more pop sounding than a fever you can't sweat out and i personally love this album there's only one song i don't really like and its all by yourself its just not for me
I’m not sure if I’m still a die hard fan but whatever, this album is obnoxious to the ears with Brendon’s vocals. I personally enjoy the album just a bit but damn the vocals can make it hard to listen.

Has drastic changes on the rythm in some points (people say, run away) so it reminds me of afycso, has pretty odd vibes in the instrumental, it seems to be a vices & virtues bonus track in the arrangement, has the lyrics similar to doab, and the high notes of pftw

This sounds like a mix of every Panic Album except Too Weird To Live Too Rare To Die. I think I like this one the most along with VLV and Middle of a Breakup. Okay so I haven’t seen anyone here do it yet but I’m gonna analyze this song:
You ever notice that the POV character doesn’t provide any real evidence that Maggie’s boyfriend is actually abusive? Besides maybe “mamas and papas shitting bricks” or the “breaking mirrors on the subway,” there’s nothing that really tells the audience about how he actually behaves. Meanwhile, the POV character is singing to Maggie throughout the whole song, and he says things such as
“Gilly thinks that he’s a DJ,
makes me want to slit my wrist”
And
“Fourth of July and it’s snowing,
Where do you think that you’re going?
Yeah, I’ll never let you go.”
Implying that the existence of the boyfriend makes him very upset and that he is obsessed with Maggie in some way. I believe that the POV character singing to Maggie is egging her on to ruin her relationship because he wants Maggie for himself. Throughout the song he’s consistently talking bad about the boyfriend without specifying what he did that was so awful. I believe the POV character is attempting to manipulate Maggie into ruining her relationship.
This is also supported by a verse in Sad Clown, where the POV character sings
“Did I see Maggie holding Gloria?
They look so happy there, but I don’t even care
I pop a pill to feel euphoria.”
Could be a coincidence but why would they deliberately write Maggie if it meant nothing?
He’s not over Maggie still and has resorted to unhealthy escapism to try to get over her. Maggie has moved on, he still hasn’t. And I feel like this enhances those two songs a bit from just being average to being pretty interesting. It warps your view of the character singing these songs as a tragic, awfully broken person that makes the wrong decisions every step of the way.
Anyway that’s my interpretation I definitely thought about this too much.
