It was funny to watch that in reality the one that shut down the other was Rubio, he took advantage of Westbrook's tunnelvision and over agressiveness and made him foul 4 times really quick, then he was forced to switch to guard other players. And in the end Rubio still got 13-8-6 wich is pretty damn solid.

Easily penetrated into OKC's defense, showing extremely high basketball IQ, creating most of the plays for the Jazz, distributing lots of excellent passes, leaving space to Mitchell to score 33, and leading his team to a hummiliating 20pt-margin victory. Russ was the one being shut-down... by Rubio. Again. In the actual NBA, all people care is about stats: points, rebounds, assists (most often useless). When the real great players, specially PGs, are not measurable by stats. Rubio gave a lot of passes that led to fouls, or pass to assists - this stuff is not counted. If we would analyze "participation in points", Rubio built maybe 50% of Jazz's points. Extremely underrated PG, one of the best in the world, while Westbrook... is the opposite: the most overrated PG in NBA history. He shouldn't even be a PG... Probably would play better at SG. Too weak Basketball IQ. Durant smartly left him and Paul George, if smart, should leave him as well.

"We will try", Rubio always seems so cool and humble. You cannot "shut down" one player when basketball is a team sport, not an individual sport. Either you "shut down" the team or you don't shut down anybody. The Jazz play as a team, not as an individual, that's the big difference of these two teams. Big 3 + isolation ball isn't real basketball, that's street ball, not NBA. Hopefully the true bbal teams will continue giving a lesson on this year's playoffs

I've been saying it for some time, I would take just about any point guard over Westbrook, Lonzo Ball is better for a team than Russ is. Rubio is better for a team. Russ is so talented, and perhaps that's his problem, he isn't a student of the game, he thinks talent is all you need and he stat chases. Rubio's response is a subtle diss, don't miss it. The job of the PG is fundamentally to build plays, making perfect passes/assists, give easy buckets to teammates, control the rythm/timing of the game and make the teammates better. This modern idea that PGs should score 30 and average triple doubles is stupid, specially if you shoot 30% FG% like Westbrook... Rubio IS A better talent, BECAUSE he is a much better playmaker, in other words, he is BETTER in his craft, which is: Point Guard. Russ might be a better SG at best... which is debatable, cause his FG% is terrible at the playoffs...
