The crazy thing was this was on at 11pm or midnight every night yet everyone watched it.... Was so good
Living in Perth it was on at 8pm in primetime!
I was late to work every day because I was up watching the Dream, then i was hyped all night 😂😂 best 2 weeks ever in Sydney. 😊
These two hours every evening passed too too quickly, as did the two wonderful weeks back in 2000. Roy and HG added so much joy to our experience.
This was legendary....my best memories of the Sydney olympics was watching these two. Cant believe its been 20 years
I remember watching this every night during the olympics. I think we got extra school holidays because of it.
Sadly I was a baby during the Sydney Olympics but one day when I was probably 8 my parents found the Dream video in an op shop and said I would like it. Even though I may have been a bit young to understand some of the jokes, I fell in love with Roy and HG’s hilariously Aussie take on the greatest games and watched the videos repeatedly. Their greatness will continue for generations to come! Just wish I was old enough to enjoy the games as they happened.
I was a toddler (2 years old) during the Sydney Olympics myself and never initially seen it on TV because of that. Then one of my dad's friends had this video on VHS tape around 2011 and I did find the week two tape of this program in an op shop (Vinnies) at 14. I don't have either tape today though. Luckily, the Olympics will be coming to Australia in 2032 and Brisbane will be hosting it by then.

I still remember the sound of my wife laughing in the living room while the very first episode was on. Every olympics that comes by I still think of it and the beginning of a great moment in Australian sporting television. And I missed it because I went to bed!
Who would have thought 20 years later the Olympic Games would be postponed because of an pandemic. Watching this brings back happy memories 😀😂

When I was 13 years old the Olympic Games were taking place in Sydney. It was the first Olympic games that I really remember from my childhood
The Dream is funnily enough the thing that I remember the most. Syd, Millie and Dickhead, fatso the fat assed wombat. The tennis pipe of peace. The singing video contest with the winner being “go you good thing go.” I remember so much of the show. We were living in a two storey house at the time and both the upstairs and the downstairs had a television. When my mother thought she had sent us to bedroom upstairs what she didn’t know initially was that I was sneakily turning on the tv upstairs to watch The Dream with the volume down so low that she couldn’t hear it. One night she came upstairs to check on us and I got caught. So she made a deal with me that if I went to bed as I was supposed to that she would record The Dream for me and I could watch it the next day.
So that’s exactly what would happen. She would record the episode each night, I would watch it the following day and then it would be recorded over the next night for the newest episode.
For my Christmas or birthday present that year I was given the VHS pack of the highlights of The Dream with Roy and HG.

I was there in 2000 for swimming, weightlifting and gymnastics. These memories are Gold.

Sydney was so magical during this time. I remember walking hand in hand with my love through the streets soaking up the atmosphere.

That quote drifts into my head every once in a while - each time it does I'm reduced to a laughing mess for a good few minutes
