Hi JD, thanks for another great instructional video! I have a Spyderco Smock on which I also added the Skiff bearings and a set of Reylight titanium frag scales. I agree with you on the secondary detent ball - I kept mine in, and with the Skiff bearings it is very smooth on both deployment and "drop shutiness". It is much sloppier without it. I think that Spyderco & Kevin Smock knew what they were doing when they designed this knife. If your Blade HQ version of the Smock gets released again I may jump on it and then mod it too. I have a lot of knives in my collection and the Smock is definitely one of my favorites! Hey also -- you might think about adding some tweezers to your tool kit. Mine came in very handy when I was working on that second detent ball.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I also added a Lynch NW deep carry clip too.

Nice and that’s a great suggestion on the tweezers brother. Thanks 👊

I have the iFixit Precision Tweezer set on Amazon; I think it was about $10 if memory serves me correctly.

Agreed with the second detent. When I removed it the knife felt sloppy

Now that looked like a big hand nightmare. Reminds me of the old IKBS loose ball knives. Interesting to see how it all works too. Another great video bro 👍👍

Exactly why I put it off longer for a cleaning lol 👊

Did you buy it with that coating, or is it aftermarket? Waiting on my smock to come in and I really, really, want that black finish.
Besides the burning desire you have me for a blacked out smock, informative vid, thanks.

It came coated like that but there a few places you can use to get your blades coated. 👍

I was thinking about buying the scales for my bugout. do you think they are worth $160 I'm trying to justify that

That’s really up to you. Do you really like them? Will the way your Bugout looks make you happy?
I bought the purple haze for my AD20.5 and later sold them when I upgraded to titanium and I only lost $30 on what I paid and got 4 months of joy from them.
My take is if you answered yes to the first two questions, life is short, so do what makes you happy. 👍

I’ve personally put about $600 into a Bugout, that includes a Damasteel Blade, Death Grip titanium scales, Rockscale Design titanium backspacer, titanium pocket clip, titanium hardware, titanium axis lock and Damascus laser engraving for pocket clip/backspacer. I have several other Bugout builds in the $300 range. IMO, they were all worth it.
