  • A very rare video of Nicolas Slonimsky at the age of 91 giving a talk and answering questions. This talk took place on 8th Nov 1985 at the USC Thornton School of Music. Slonimsky plays a few pieces and he also talks about his association and friendship with Frank Zappa. He also plays the piece he played with the Zappa band in the early 80s.

    Prof NS looks and sounds exactly as he did from the mid-1960s when he was teaching at UCLA... his lectures were unforgettable...

    Too bad the expensive Neuman U87 microphones used to record this were turned the wrong way

      I know. I was looking forward to hearing the lecture and 90 seconds into it I bailed.
