  • if u changed vvel motors, cams, built the engine, built the cylinder head and are having engine performance issues, you likely did not degree the control cam...obviously, in the fsm it says you are to never disconnect vvel control cam from the stepper motor...this is why, and here's how to fix it

      See if you can get a scan tool to observe real-time data of vtc/ vvel angles to see what's going on

  • @aaronthemartialmechanic893

    I went to z1 to get a quote on how much it would be to swap cam and they said north of 7k, they said it could be even more depending on if there is valve clearance issue. They clame some engine even form same year are slightly different. Did you run into any problems with this. Im going to swap to the c2 cams and donthe work myself

    • @sethjoyner391
      @sethjoyner391  Před rokem

      Sooo...it can get complicated, if it requires a spring upgrade, and u will have to measure cam lash and make the appropriate lifter bucket selection... everything they said is accurate as far as process...the price point is a bit high; but that may be more related to their work load as it's a very time consuming job to only do a cam upgrade

    • @sethjoyner391
      @sethjoyner391  Před rokem

      Oh, and also...just from in the industry 5k-7k would be about the going rate, it's an uncommon job...most cam upgrades are done during an engine build process where it's not much additional cost since the machine shop has the cylinder heads in a stripped down condition, they are easily upgraded

    Ok so I have a question, after installing jwt exhaust camshafts, mechanically setting the vvel to the 1.585 in gap, do I have to reset the sensors electronically via ecutek? If so can it be done by my tuner. and will the car be able to start before the vvel reset. My tune date is in about 7 days and I’m so nervous. Any help or advice would be so extremely appreciated.

    • @coenmcleod9441
      @coenmcleod9441 Před rokem +1

      After watching your other videos, and doing more research, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m going to mechanically clock the vvel motors the way I’m supposed to, then after timing the car, and throwing everything together, try to start it. From there have my tuner use ecutek to set the sensors properly.

    Hey Seth, question. I know the control cam has to be locked in that position to make the correct measurement for the motor. But once that is set is there a certain position that the control can has to be or should it just stay in that spot?

    • @sethjoyner391

      It just stays in that spot and you move on to the next control cam....this will allow the electronic vvel reset procedure to be possible with the sensors themselves after you do this

    Hey Seth, I hope you can help me with this issue. I mechanically adjusted both bank 1 and bank 2 vvel to 1.585 gap/ 5.5 degree. After assembling everything to adjust vvel position sensors I can only get bank 2 to .50 but when I adjust bank 1 its way within range meaning it's not centered where it's supposed to be, it barley reaches .50. So, i turn on the car and everything runs fine, it idles with no issues. Once i get on the freeway to about 60-80 mph it goes into limp mode / loses power. Any thoughts ?? Your response will be much appreciated.

      @@sethjoyner391 Hey Seth, super late reply. I ended up finding the issue. There was actually a tiny crack in the intake manifold plenum causing a vacuum leak. The reason why I adjusted the vvel position sensors was because I did the head gaskets. Since the vehicle was already misfiring due to the head gaskets before the repair, I never knew there was a crack in the plenum up until the repair was done. Thank you for your response !
