@@Ash_MelodieI mean, just going through the pokedex, about 70% of the mons are pretty useful (though some become less useful without their abilities such as the Azumarill line). Gen 2 also receieves buffs from other gens because a lot of gen 2 mons evolve into mons in orher gens.

@@paulovitorsouzanunes4854 if you get a gen 2 mon, you can evolve it. So that 70% consists of all mons that are useful as they are or as their evolution. So Cleffa counts for example. And off the top of my head, gen 2 has totodile, cyndaquil, chinchou, natu (magic bounce is really good), cleffa, crobat, togepi, marill, mareep, politoed, aipom, yanma, espeon, umbreon, slowking, misdreavus, girafarig, dunsparce, heracross, sneasel, swinub, qwilfish, miltank, blissey, tyrogue, porygon2, smeargle, snubbull, teddiursa, larvitar, kingdra, skarmory, phanpy, houndour, scizor, gligar, pineco and the 6 legendaries. I've likely also missed a handful.
Fun fact for the future: male combee and male salandit can both use eviolite even though they don’t evolve

The thing to remember about this format for gen 2 pokemon is that while its general power may be lower than other gens, it's full of pokemon that are pre-evolutions to gen 1 pokemon, and/or they get evolutions later on. So when you select gen 2, there's a potential Electivire or Honchkrow or Weavile or Farigiraf or Dudunsparce or Crobat or Magmortar or Mamoswine or Blissey, on top of all the pokemon that are actually from that generation.
In any case, I don't think many of the really trash mons from gen 2 are even in this game, so gen 2 is a really good bet for a good mon, as this video shows.
Sunkern is like the only real dud that comes to mind.

Telling Pat he can't evolve his Combee was hilarious, but I was fully expecting for you to tell him right at the end that you were joking and that he could have a Vespiquen. Could have made for a more interesting battle setup. I mean, it didn't matter in the end, but still.
Never shit on gen 2, pat never lived it down and learned a valuable lesson this video.
I love Then we fight videos. Especially when even if someone fumbles in the team selection, they can still win the battle.

Yeah… I wish it wasn’t bad. I mean, you can at least terastalise it to give it less weaknesses but without that I don’t really know what it’s good for.
Psyshock hits on the Physical side and Hippowdon's base Defense is 118 and Hypno's Special Attack is 73 and Hippowdon's base Special Defense is 72, in addition to Draining Kiss's low power which is why it was taking them so well. Plus that base 108 HP.
Gen 2 Pokedex is actually the strongest thing about the generation. I will NOT respect Gen 2 Pokedex slander, Pat. I. WILL. NOT.

@@paulovitorsouzanunes4854 Besides it has some good mons and ones that would go on to get good final evos. I'm not going to act like it's the best dex but it's not all trash. Even the weaker Pokemon I think have some of the better desgins then the trash of gen 5 or 7. It was gen 2 right after gen 1 certainly not perfect games or dexs but as a kid it was great. At least we didn't have to sit through 30 min ugly cut scenes to get our starter like gen 7.

I believe a fun challenge would be “Primary typing + 1st letter of their name” So many options for confusion, like ‘Fire Type - C’. Could be any number of things
Normal type - A. Name one that isn't Arceus.
Update: Audino, Ambipom and Aipom exist, and none of these exist in S/V.

However, Azumarill with a randomized ability is potentially garbage. Arceus, though... is Arceus. And that's a 50/50: You either get moist garbage, or you get Arceus.

@@TheOverlordPepper It said primary typing. "Normal type - N" is 100% Noctowl, and that's that. Yes, with those two parameters, you can single out one pokemon.
If secondary typings were usable, then the mind games wouldn't stop.
Also, "Fire type - Q" is unique, and a good 'mon.
"Water type - U" and "Fighting type - U" are also unique Oddly enough, the same 'mon. One with a dual typing that would obviously get picked since Umbreon is also Dark.
"Dark type - Y" is a box art.
"Grass type - H" is trash.

If we're talking Gen 2 in the context of Gen 2 (aka Gold/Silver/Crystal) then yeah most Gen 2 mons are dogwater, a lot of them got deserved glowups over time though. Honestly if we wanna talk relative modern powerlevel I'd maybe put Gen 3 as a contender to be at the bottom or at least *near* the bottom (which hurts as it's my favorite gen lol). Unlike Gen 2 which originally had a few really strong mons and a massive handful of crap mons that later got their glowups, Gen 3 didn't really get much of the same treatment in the glowup department. It does at least have some of the strongest/most consistent legendaries to this day though, which is nice, especially in a world where Zacian and Miraidon exist! May the weather trio continue to reign eternal.

Gen 2 is probably one of the best gens for this game as there are a lot of baby pokemon that evolve to good pokemon and a lot of gen 2 got later evolutions as well as the good pokemon from the generation.

Landerous incarnate is better in singles than therian. Its Ubers. Therian may be better in doubles cause intimidate but I dont play doubles so idk. You also sent the nasty plotter into a very prolific special wall. That is why it did no damage.
