The Rain Song from No Quarter: Jimmy Page and Robert Plant Unledded with the London Metropolitan Orchestra Vocals: Robert Plant Guitar: Jimmy Page Bass: Charlie Jones Drums: Michael Lee
This song means so much to me. I played it for my great grandma while she was passing to calm her. It was one of the hardest things i’ve ever done. The last thing she said to me was “beautiful music”. I’ll never forget that and every time I hear this song I get emotional. Love you Mamo R.I.P. Thank you all for your kind words. It has been hard without her but I have all of you to thank for helping me get through this. All of your comments mean so much to me and I am truly grateful for all of the thoughtful things you all have said. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like a beautiful, bittersweet moment to have; and you chose the right song. We all have, or will have these special personal moments in our lives tied to certain pieces...that's the power of great music. :)
Listening to special music transcends our mortal fears. I sing to my dad now and then. Though now maybe he is in another life. Prayers open like orange lights and guide them in the dark valley. Your granma felt her soul for special music does that and that will preserve her conciousness and keep her senses tuned to the bigger world.
What a beautiful thing to do for her. I’m so so sorry for your loss but what a beautiful send off♥️ I hope you still feel her love surrounding you in a warm hug. Sending you much love xx♥️🙏
I met his son Jason Bonham several years back, the poor guy was a fat blob of drunken obnoxious spoiled mess - we got along tho, he was just indulging way over the top - looked like pure hell

My father died the same day John Bonham died…September 25,1980. My Husband’s initials are JP and he was born on Jimmy Page’s birthday, January 9. I was born five days after Robert Plant was born. 8/25/1948 and 8/20/1948 I’ve had dreams about Robert Plant and he was so real. Once I prayed so hard to God that I could have a chance to tell him I loved him, though it seemed impossible it could ever happen. Within a year we had gotten front row seats to the 2000 seating Orpheum theater in Boston. A few things happened during the concert. A guy ran down to the front row. Robert Plant was looking down & never saw him and the guy hopped up on stage and rushed to hug him…immediately someone from off stage grabbed the guy and took him off the other side of the stage without Robert Plant even seeing him. He must have felt him though he looked up directly at me and I said it’s OK and he just went on with the show. After his last encore as he walked off, he looked right at me and grinned. I turned and gestured to the audience and said “we love you” and looked back at him and he was still grinning. It was magical and God had answered my prayer.
Faiz Ahmad I'm sure shaitan is fair well pissed of you cheating him like that. should've done his homework he would have found out half is owned by me. I imagine we'll be in litigation for decades. during that time we'll take turns seeing how many time we can get you to say "help me Jesus" while we're torturing you. should be fun.
This is an absolutely perfect song. The craftmanship is otherworldly. Everything from the lyrics to the musical arrangement and tone is genius. I can never hear this song too many times. It takes me somewhere else.
7:02 Page tossing the pick away. Something about it is both badass and beautiful. "You've done your work little pick, now let me finish this on my own."
Saved my life in Afghanistan. The music kept us sane, and this was the song that kept me sane and on an even keel, thank God and Led Zeppelin. Rest in peace to my comrades who didn't make it back. With gratitude and thanks, much obliged, Led Zeppelin.
Thanks Rampart for your service. "Upon us all...a little rain must fall"....unfortunately, sometimes there is too much rain in life for some. Glad this helped you. Zep on....
100%. There's something profound in music that I'm not even sure were consciously aware of. How pressure waves and vibrations can affect us so deeply, it's mesmerising.
Yes, it's a God-given talent. If you needed any more proof of how important music is to God, the largest book of the Bible is made up almost entirely of songs, Psalms.
Jimmy tossing his pick at 7:03, Robert's subtle nod at the song's end... and a stunningly beautiful masterpiece from Zep's incredible catalog. Wonderful video.
I had my first baby last week, and on her 3rd night home i played this to her off my phone. I was so emotionally into her beautiful face that i wanted to cry but held it in. At some point i saw her smile at me for the first time and i broke out in tears. I have never in my life felt such a love so immense and beautiful like i did in that moment. Now I’m learning to play it for her on my acoustic. Thank you Led Zeppelin for that, the greatest moment of my life so far🤍
Enjoy it , time goes by so fast .. I played this for my babe , he just turned 40 on the 9th of June 2021. . This was also one of my childhood favorites in the 70’s
I love LZ's rockers but songs like this, and "Ten Years Gone", "Goin' to California", and "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" are what really show off their compositional genius for me. What a mythic band.
With this special DGCGCD tuning and of course this beautiful song, Mr. Page has brought out such depths of guitar that go beyond the relationship between a person and an object (guitar). It goes far beyond that ... Thank you master! It is an eternal experience for us! 🥲
+Jim Bo I noticed that too. Kind of a "Right on" nod, very cool. If you'd like to enjoy another little moment like that, check out Ginger Baker's little "eye raise" to Clapton after "White Room" on the live at Albert Hall Cream reunion show.
Plant did an AWESOME job but did not hit the notes as he did before while singing this song...showed great control here~ Plant nods to Jimmy because Plant knew that Jimmy got finer with age with respect to this song and his AWESOME performance...just my guess~ An excellent performance by everyone involved!
Just broke down and got premium for $$11.99 a month. I recommend it.. takes the annoyance out of it..and contributors still get paid. If you see it for $15.99 don’t do it. That’s Apple taking their app cut.
Was going through a horrible experience in my life in 1985. My boyfriend would play the Rain Song on his guitar to comfort me. The first chords still move me deeply… feel safe. Corny? No! That’s what music is for. Feel life through music.
Am always glad to receive positive comments from my lovely fans 🤍🖤 it's absolutely my pleasure bringing sweet melody to you. May God bless you awesomely 🙏 I hope you have fun listening to this music 🎧💕. Have you been to any of my concert?
This song came on the radio while I was driving with my daughter. She was preparing to leave for college and we spoke of many things that day. I was missing her already and it hurt so badly that I could barely breathe. The music and lyrics were like a balm for my soul. When I hear this song, it reminds me of that beautiful fall day, the bluest of skies, the open road and my love for her.
My bad, That's how my day started. It was an amazing fall day...Sorry, I don't mean to splash anything on your beautiful day. It is what it was for me.
Agreed, Jimmy pages flair for meloncholic and mesmerising melodies is impeccable. That augmented line cliché makes me feel a certain way, almost a sense of bliss and hopelessness at the same time. Also the sound of the openess of the open tuning plus the string section reminds me of As tears go by from Rolling Stones/ Marianne Faithfull. Beautiful song
As I was sitting in my truck contemplating suicide, this song came on the radio. It literally saved me, in so many ways. I have asked for it to be played at my funeral. What a song!
It's these comments, thatscwhen you know that behind every beautiful musician their message is so clear to bring hope, when were at the end of our rope in the distance you can always hear a certain mix that somewhat gives us clarity. We are here for a purpose so God bless you brother, ....I for one am very proud you're here with me today to enjoy this masterpiece❤❤❤
When you realise that everything the orchestra does here, JPJ handled all by himself back during the tour days....it hits hard man, really hard. Cheers for the unsung hero 🔥
Yeah, no kidding. John was incredibly talented, maybe the most talented of the four and, considering how the other three are stupidly good, this says a lot.
@@MateusOliveira-hr1wp it is such a shame that JPJ didn't do this tour with the boys. None the less, the music was spectacular with the musicians they used and a full orchestra. I missed a chance to see the tour but a buddy of mine did see them. 26 years later he still talks about it. He is quite the guitar player himself, so you can imagine how much he enjoyed the Plant/ Page tour. We used to get stoned when my friend was learning guitar. I would be at the turntable trying to drop the needle at just the right spot of a LZ album so he could try and learn a Page riff. Good times- old school guitar learning.
At the end Jimmy and Robert are smitten. With accomplished musicians (the orchestra, Page and Plant as well) how their creation just went out into the ethereal world timeless exquisite masterful.
It is the springtime of my loving The second season I am to know You are the sunlight in my growing So little warmth I've felt before It isn't hard to feel me glowing I watched the fire that grew so low, oh It is the summer of my smiles Flee from me, keepers of the gloom Speak to me only with your eyes It is to you I give this tune Ain't so hard to recognize, oh These things are clear to all from time to time, ooh Oh, oh Oh, oh Oh Talk talk, talk, talk Hey, I felt the coldness of my winter I never thought it would ever go I cursed the gloom that set upon us, 'pon us, 'pon us, 'pon us But I know that I love you so Oh, but I know That I love you so These are the seasons of emotion And like the wind, they rise and fall This is the wonder of devotion I see the torch We all must hold This is the mystery of the quotient, quotient Upon us all, upon us all a little rain must fall Just a little rain, oh Ooh, yeah-yeah-yeah Written by Jimmy Page, Robert Plant
It's not just that Jimmy Page is a master on the guitar. It's that Robert Plant also feels the music and his voice. Together they are just a beautiful pair
Roberta Colarette have you watched the documentary “it might get loud”? At least check out the clips here on CZcams. It’s from 2008, and has some amazing footage of Jimmy!
JU5TINPDX Thanks for the tip; but I’ve seen the clips so I had to buy it to see the whole thing. It’s fascinating. 🤗. Jimmy is too much. He loves, loves music. That’s why he’s still so young and vital.

This is my favorite song. Been playing guitar for 25 years I can play the most technical guitar in the world but none of that means shit compared how this song makes me feel on a warm sunny day in the sand at the Pacific ocean. When I play this on my guitar I truly find peace and love! To me it's the greatest day I've ever had everytime I play this on my acoustic guitar at the beach.
There will never be another 2 that can play music so great as Page & Plant did and I wish I would’ve been born 15 years earlier so I could’ve saw them live in concert .
That's Jimmy Page everyone.A true master at his craft,& a guitar God in his own right.Upon us all,a little rain must fall. BEAUTIFUL & AMAZING I cannot ever listen to this without precious memories of my youth pouring into my head. THIS IS MUSIC
The soft side of Zep, lie down, look at the sky and let this tune take you....the orchestration is superb, it is like a melodic dream sequence, your loved one right next to you....

That was a "We nailed it, son", look.

I couldn't AGREE wit ya more......this tune has a special place.......Stairway aint nothin compared to this BEAUTIFUL piece of music.!!! I cry EVERYTIME!!!!!
Totally agree
Agree 100%
Even though I'm a keyboard player I'm learning rain song on my acoustic. One of my favorites ballads.
@@ellenbacklin I've just learnt it on my acoustic too, love that tuning!
Page dropping the pick and playing the last seconds of the song with his fingers LIKE A BOSS. That melody at the end gives me chills every time.
Me to brother!!.....EVERY F'N TIME
Because he IS A BOSS !!
There's no words enough to describe this song. The combination between Plant's smoothness and Page's total mastery is just transcedental.
Being able to see Page/Plant in 95 was a dream come true! I was 5 when Bonham died so I never thought I would get the chance to see these guys live.
My father died the same day John Bonham died…September 25,1980.
My Husband’s initials are JP and he was born on Jimmy Page’s birthday, January 9.
I was born five days after Robert Plant was born. 8/25/1948 and 8/20/1948
I’ve had dreams about Robert Plant and he was so real.
There are good songs, there are great songs, and then there's The Rain Song...
Well said :)
That Robert Plant nod at Jimmy Page at the end is the greatest compliment.
Beautiful, Simply Beautiful... I saw Led Zeppelin in 77 Pontiac Silverdome my father took me I was 14 years old thanks pops I miss you
I was there too 💖
@toppjimi7776 no shit, it is a small world but I wouldn't want to paint it yesterday was the anniversary April 30th 1977
Their smiles at the end. Such a gorgeous song.
Jimmy is such a pure musician
Whomever disliked this obviously cannot ever fathom the possible depths of vocal and acoustic beauty...
Richard Wolfe LOL I laugh but it's true. Music from heaven, this is.
I sold my soul to the devil and still love this song
Faiz Ahmad
dont do that 😒
the devil is sneaky & evil,,,buy your soul back, with Gods grace, you are worth it! 🌸
Every times I hear the opening notes of this song I'm taken back to my teens in the 70's. I smiled through this whole performance. Just beautiful ❤
Me too...... man the years go fast.
We are the teenagers that got to hear this transcendent music on the radio when we were kids and radiates strong still
Right!
7:02 Page tossing the pick away. Something about it is both badass and beautiful. "You've done your work little pick, now let me finish this on my own."
This is THE BEST comment
I love it. it is badass. I also love Jimmy's smile at the end and Robert's nod of approval - they must be like brothers.
Saved my life in Afghanistan. The music kept us sane, and this was the song that kept me sane and on an even keel, thank God and Led Zeppelin. Rest in peace to my comrades who didn't make it back. With gratitude and thanks, much obliged, Led Zeppelin.
rampart : this song de-stress's me ... thank you for serveing we all have to fine our moment of sanity||||||||
Thanks Rampart for your service. "Upon us all...a little rain must fall"....unfortunately, sometimes there is too much rain in life for some. Glad this helped you. Zep on....
Thank u all for ur service
Thank you for your service 💓
Thank you for your service, and your taste in music is fkn awesome! Hoorah!
This is proof that music is the most powerful thing ever created by humans, if you disagree, I will still pray for you….
100%. There's something profound in music that I'm not even sure were consciously aware of. How pressure waves and vibrations can affect us so deeply, it's mesmerising.
I don't disagree but God created it first
Absolutely, glory be to god!!!
I was never blessed with having a child & always wanted to be a Mom - so happy for you. Thanks for sharing that wonderful moment with your baby✌❤
When it comes to zep it's never to early to start listening
Congratulations!
Always remember this... "The Song Remains The Same"
I love the nod that Plant gives Page at 7:26 "Damn dude, you killed that..."
They knew it was a beautiful thing.
Omg! My husband passed away in 2004. He could play this song beautiful. I miss him.
i will try that tuning. cool!
Ok. I play with normal tuning for years, decades
DGCGCD Is propably easyest
The 4:43 minute mark and the ensuing 50 or so seconds thereafter is one of the
best if not the best moments in musical recording history.
it gives me chill each time
Favorite part of my favorite song. EARGASM!!!!!!
Without a doubt, it brings tears to my eyes almost every time I watch the video.
I don't know how to explain why my tears flow hearing Jimmy play. So much gratitude to him and Robert. The sounds of my youth.
STILL....THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG EVER WRITTEN ❤️.....STILL...
Agreed, and best rendition ❤
The little nod that Robert gives Jimmy at the very end
+Jim Bo I noticed that too. Kind of a "Right on" nod, very cool. If you'd like to enjoy another little moment like that, check out Ginger Baker's little "eye raise" to Clapton after "White Room" on the live at Albert Hall Cream reunion show.
+Jim Bo Yup. Like, "We're still the best."
Plant did an AWESOME job but did not hit the notes as he did before while singing this song...showed great control here~ Plant nods to Jimmy because Plant knew that Jimmy got finer with age with respect to this song and his AWESOME performance...just my guess~ An excellent performance by everyone involved!
maybe the the most beautiful song by the most beautiful band ever written ever...... definitely
I'm just happy to have seen the whole damn video without youtube putting a fucking ad in the middle of it.
May God bless you awesomely 🙏
I hope you have fun listening to this music 🎧💕.
Nicely written and kind to share ✌️😊
The way you said that gave me tingling and goose bumps . Thanks.
K. Pope Beautifully written. Lyrical. Robert would love to read your words, of that I have little doubt
I thought the same thing when I woke up on East Long Island at 9:45am on September 11, 2001. Semper Fi...
My bad, That's how my day started. It was an amazing fall day...Sorry, I don't mean to splash anything on your beautiful day. It is what it was for me.
Maybe the most beautiful song ever done by Zeppelin
Agreed, Jimmy pages flair for meloncholic and mesmerising melodies is impeccable. That augmented line cliché makes me feel a certain way, almost a sense of bliss and hopelessness at the same time. Also the sound of the openess of the open tuning plus the string section reminds me of As tears go by from Rolling Stones/ Marianne Faithfull. Beautiful song
As I was sitting in my truck contemplating suicide, this song came on the radio. It literally saved me, in so many ways. I have asked for it to be played at my funeral. What a song!
I’m glad you’re here and now. Stay that way. Peace
I don't know what's troubling you but I hope you can find Innerpeace!
I hope those arrangements are far in your future after a long life full of love and joy❤
The world is glad you’re here, friend.. Life is worth living just to see and hear beauty such as this song… Keep strong and keep jamming.
Amazing i am 73 and still tears come up.... Amazing..
No worries, Mate. I'm 61 and STILL shed tears at good music - this song included - simply beautiful!!
7:04 - The iconic Jimmy Page "Pick Toss"
7:28 - The approving Robert Plant "Head nod"
You nailed it
At the end Jimmy and Robert are smitten. With accomplished musicians (the orchestra, Page and Plant as well) how their creation just went out into the ethereal world timeless exquisite masterful.
one of Led Zeppelin's most gorgeous songs ever; Plant and Paige are at top form, and the strings are perfect!
4:44. That drummer waited his entire life for that moment
For sure. And worth waiting...
Who is that on the drums ? Carried his own
Michael lee great drummer. Rip
It is the springtime of my loving
The second season I am to know
You are the sunlight in my growing
So little warmth I've felt before
It isn't hard to feel me glowing
I watched the fire that grew so low, oh
It is the summer of my smiles
Flee from me, keepers of the gloom
Speak to me only with your eyes
It is to you I give this tune
Ain't so hard to recognize, oh
These things are clear to all from time to time, ooh
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Oh
Talk talk, talk, talk
Hey, I felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go
I cursed the gloom that set upon us, 'pon us, 'pon us, 'pon us
But I know that I love you so
Oh, but I know
That I love you so
These are the seasons of emotion
And like the wind, they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion
I see the torch
We all must hold
This is the mystery of the quotient, quotient
Upon us all, upon us all a little rain must fall
Just a little rain, oh
Ooh, yeah-yeah-yeah
Written by Jimmy Page, Robert Plant
That drummer is really good.
Every time, no matter how many times I listen to this or play it on my guitar, tears
Those back up musicians must have felt like heaven knowing they were with two of the greatest rock musicians of all time
Their smiles at the end are just pure love and joy. That's what I'm talking about!
STILL THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG EVER WRITTEN............
I GUESS WHEN IM 80 YEARS OLD ILL STILL BE LISTENING AND CRYING FOR THE BEAUTY OF THIS SONG ..............AND THIS BOY.
It's not just that Jimmy Page is a master on the guitar. It's that Robert Plant also feels the music and his voice. Together they are just a beautiful pair
Looks like I’m not alone in my Quarantine induced Led Zeppelin binge-a-thon....
👍🏻who else?👍🏻
The only thing that takes me away from where I am
JU5TINPDX it just doesn’t get any better than this...
I’m here everyday. I’m seeing things I never saw before. I’m enthralled.
Roberta Colarette have you watched the documentary “it might get loud”? At least check out the clips here on CZcams. It’s from 2008, and has some amazing footage of Jimmy!
JU5TINPDX
Thanks for the tip; but I’ve seen the clips so I had to buy it to see the whole thing.
It’s fascinating. 🤗. Jimmy is too much. He loves, loves music. That’s why he’s still so young and vital.
And that was a lesson in supreme musicianship and emotional beauty when listening. Absolute superb.
STILL LISTENING AND LOVE IN 2023 - YOU TOO? OUT THERE! We had the best music generation.
🌴🌴Am always glad to receive positive comments from my lovely fans,it’s my pleasure bringing sweet melody to my lovely fan, 🌹🌹hope you don’t stop listening to music and thanks for your sincere compliment I really appreciate🙏, have you been to any of my concert ?
This reminds me of my husband. He could play this perfect. He passed away in 2004. We were high school sweet heart's. I miss him every day.
This is my favorite song. Been playing guitar for 25 years I can play the most technical guitar in the world but none of that means shit compared how this song makes me feel on a warm sunny day in the sand at the Pacific ocean. When I play this on my guitar I truly find peace and love! To me it's the greatest day I've ever had everytime I play this on my acoustic guitar at the beach.
when 16 million people watch and no dislikes, you understand the meaning of perfection.
CZcams started hiding dislikes a little while back and it's really bad for content 🙁
Wishing everyone a peaceful and safe Thanksgiving 2023. Beautiful song for this day.
Jimmy Page's guitar playing is flawlessly clean. Been listening to these guys since Junior High School...1972.
Best rock ballad ever written IMO, and definitely the best recorded version of this song. Page is a musical genius.
Jimmy on guitar is unmatched
There will never be another 2 that can play music so great as Page & Plant did and I wish I would’ve been born 15 years earlier so I could’ve saw them live in concert .
The most beautiful zeppelin song ever written... just behind ten years gone
Jimmy Page's playing here is unworldly. He is leading an orchestra with a very complex acoustic arrangement and it's ....fucking....mind blowing!!!!
So, so lovely. I have no words, only emotions. I am 67 years old and this resonates deeply within me and transports me to my younger days. Thank you.
Love to hear an orchestra imitating a mellotron imitating an orchestra. Top tier recording of this song.
I wouldn't mind hearing that last little bit at the end -right after he tosses his pick , as I draw my last breath.
Man, . sitting outside listening to the rain pour, with this song gently playing, sipping coffee, I gotta say ...no it doesn't get much better ❤❤❤❤❤
❤
Nailed it
Heaven
A splash of jack daniels and a spoon of honey in the coffee..😊
That's Jimmy Page everyone.A true master at his craft,& a guitar God in his own right.Upon us all,a little rain must fall. BEAUTIFUL & AMAZING
I cannot ever listen to this without precious memories of my youth pouring into my head.
THIS IS MUSIC
took the words right out of my mouth, a true master at his craft
@@jukvox
INDEED
The soft side of Zep, lie down, look at the sky and let this tune take you....the orchestration is superb, it is like a melodic dream sequence, your loved one right next to you....
Who knows where Page got that tuning from but it's his genius...
Plants nod to him at the end says it all. He's just a spectator.
Growing up in the 70s, we just took music like this for granted
I know. Every album that came out was better than the last one. We had no reason to think it would change.
One of my favorite songs EVER, i'm fucking emotional watching this, so beautiful.
me too bro...hit he deep down and brought it up through my eyes 😊
+Ciclopea2 This was the song played for our first dance at my wedding.
+Ciclopea2 ...yeah, great !!!! brings tears to my eyes! Gorgeous!
+Ciclopea2 ..totally..heavy...the kid behind the kit is the champ..on that night...
+Ciclopea2 - there certain bands songs when you hear them , they just take over your body ... and bring a happy tear
