I've been playing artificers for quite a while and I have a few things to add. Leveling a low level artificer can be a ton of fun: just grab a repeating crossbow and get the enhancements from harper and pew pew ignoring spells. When you have the ability to get lightning rod sla, then yeah respec into that. Lighting motes SLA is amazing because a lot of people MISS the very low cooldown it has. You can either go warforged for incredible self healing or half-elf for normal self healing and call lightning storm sla which if you have some racial points to get there is bonkers. And on epic when you have a destiny active, don't underestimate how good prismatic spray is triggering all sorts of aoe debuffs and mantles
I remember playing artificer on a first life char and killing almost everything at about 10 instantly (Blast Rod SLA)

The pet healing is one of the best features of the Archaneotechnician tree (at least in heroics). With 2 points into it you get constant healing (at least if you're warforged or have taken construct essence). It's enough that you can largely ignore the need for repairs unless you get hit for a lot at one time, further saving spell points for dishing out damage.

Just stand next to your pet and get self repair for you and any Warforged Ally’s or hirelings 4d4+1 every six sec I’m running Archanotech/Inquisitive in heroics

Casterficers are great fun. Will have to try out a build using ruin. Previously I went SLA based and picked up master of artifice and intensify.
My favourite rune arm is St. Mur'ay's fire from 3bc, it has the best rune arm effect (Electrical Storm) and 25% faster charging which is mad when paired with the SteelStar coffee. Pro-tip for the electrical storm rune arms, before firing jump and blast the rune arm onto the heads of the mobs, it makes it much easier to get the aoe damage from the balls.
Specifically for the ruin build, if you go the single weapon fighting with versatile off hand feat, you can trigger automatic criticals for 5 seconds then cast gruin ruin burst runearm. Epic damage for raids. It can be tricky at higher reaper but with tactical and prismatic as well as all the tankiness you should be fine.
I love that feat in my EK Shadar-Kai.

Blast Rod just looks so fun
Having been levelling an Arti for the last long while, Blast Rod at the appropriate time just absolutely blows me away. But mostly it blows the mobs away. Into the morgue.
The real issue is FINDING a decent runearm. These things sadly don't drop like most items.
a good one for start is strinatis hand cannon from 3 barrel cove, which drops from a rare encounter in the explorer area
@@1hoku ahh yes, that's fairly easy.
However finding higher lvl ones can seem challenging.
Then there's having to wait till lvl 12 to remove electric immunity.
I love megaman Arti builds.
AD&D 2E Artificers were OP AF.

what about wand scroll and potions on artificer? they work much better than others. If you take the wand and scroll enhancement with capstone you can cast wiz lvl 9 spells for some free damage.
Strimtom or anyone: If your pet has a collar that adds stats like Search or Spot, does that also add to the character or strictly the pet?

This one was in the tank for a while for various reasons.
My main on G-land is 18Arti/ 2 rouge. Trap monkey and DPS . Don't really use the spells beside Tactical D, Prismatic strike and the weapon and armor buffs. As for weapons it's heavy repeating crossbow and my plethora of Rune Arms I have collected over the years.

Has "Tactical D" been nerfed since this posting of this video? At L.16, I'm just not seeing all the Shock & Awe that the video states that it should be.
It has not been nerfed. Do you have fire and force spell power? Are monsters getting their saves against it?
It's the combination of crowd control that works on all creatures plus solid damage that makes it work. Great if combed with a rune arm blast and chain lightning or blast rod
@@Strimtom After a few more runs, it looks like the mobs are making their saving throws. Is there a SLA version of Tac-D? One other question, are you running Medium armor to take advantage of that Alchemical Shield passive?
It took me to 16 minutes when I realized you didn't take SLAs.. why??

Yep! Caster artificer hasn't seen any significant changes. However there is a new artificer oriented epic destiny being shown off next week on the preview so that might make things spicy
Did you make your armor 69 for .... reasons? Or is that how much AC you just so happened to have? 😀

Compared to my casters I dislike the Caster version of Artificers But FYI You should be taking enlarge instead of heighten, doubles range and AOE effect of all spells.
