    This channel is gold mine.... holy shit thank you so much, the guitar being angled on your lap and the camera angle made is so easy to see both hands and what is going on and made it so simple. Hell of a player too, I would feel complete if I learn to play at your level, you definitely got a new subscriber here!!!!!

      stevie ray I been tryin im having trouble muting any strings besides low e a n d with my palm muting.. can’t seem to get g b n never get hi e.. dunna y I can’t figure it out but I’ll keep trying but it’s the most frustrating of all techniques when I can’t do this I have to take a break most stuff I can’t get I’ll try over over but this makes me so frustrated

      One of the hardest techniques to master, great example is RHCP's Can't Stop, seems simple but very tough to get right. You mute the higher strings with your frethand, the lower with palm.

    how do you rake open strings in upward motion before high string bend. SRV does it in little wing going into one of his solos - actually two. rakes open strings up and then rakes down into high bended note. sounds amazing when he does it, sounds like messy crap when I try ! driving me nuts. lots of overdrive makes it hard to control and not sure izzackly what he's doing. adds phenomenal amount of emotion and power though.

      Mine always just turns that way, so that's how I hold it. Then later I found out that Billy Gibbons and Guthrie Trapp do it as well. For me it's not a tone thing. I just can't hold on to it the "right" way. It always spins around. Whatever works.

      I ise it upside down to get a brighter and jazzy sound.

    Curious as to why he is holding his pick upside down and using the round side rather than using the pointed end as intended for use?

    • @expressisverbis854
      @expressisverbis854 Před rokem +1

      Probably just personal preference. I can’t hear a significant difference in the rake if I hold it the way it was invented.

    Anthony, if I may ask, what pickups are you using for the yellow sunburst strat featured in this video particularly? Really like the raspy growl they produce.

      Patrick Black go to his site and look for this video in there. He usually lists all his gear used in a particular video.

    Well that was easy enough; perfect lesson. I've been doing this subconsciously in multiple parts of Little Wing (maybe STV influenced?), but wasn't sure if I was doing it correctly. I'm still not actually because I'm muting with my palm a little too. I can do it both ways (you seem to be doing it all with your middle finger & thumb, but it's much more comfortable with my palm. I'm still muting the A,E,G with my back fingers & tonally everything is perfect, so I guess this is okay? Sorry, but I hate picking up bad technique & just want to make sure I'm doing things the most effective way.

    • @almostnowhere915
      @almostnowhere915 Před 4 lety

      Geert Wilders it’s a pretty advanced technique that easily separates players on a skill gap. Almost as defining as grace notes. When you hear someone play this technique right on timr with feel it definitely stands out. I didnt think it was a complicated lesson at all, but to each their own

      Check out 'pilky27's cover of Lenny - SRV around the 1:10 mark. That's unclear! But you can hear those rakes and it really makes the whole lick there.
