- Sandworms are colossal, worm-like creatures that live on the desert planet Arrakis. Their larvae produce a drug called melange (known colloquially as "the spice"), the most essential and valuable commodity in the universe because it makes safe and accurate interstellar travel possible. Melange deposits are found in the sand seas of Arrakis, where the sandworms live and hunt, and harvesting the spice from the sand is a dangerous activity because sandworms are aggressive and territorial. Harvesting vehicles must be airlifted in and out of the sand sea in order to evade sandworm attacks. The struggle over the production and supply of melange is a central theme of the Dune saga. The sandworms are reverently called Shai-Hulud by the planet's indigenous Fremen, who worship them as agents of God whose actions are a form of divine intervention.

The theater felt like an earthquake when he was riding the worm. The amc dolby atmos theater was insane!

When the sound of the worm hit my ears, I almost fainted. I had on headphones and it was ridiculously loud. Thought I was getting hit by a truck.
Just like riding a Kraken. Lots of fun, and once you get the hang of it tis easy.

Some of the people in Dune comment sections on CZcams have low attention spans like TikTokers, they prefer dopamine fueled Star Wars and MCU movies rather than good stories with slower buildup like Dune and Lord of the Rings.

Ah all over sudden sunglasses.......
The sunglasses are retractable. In the scene where the Fremen and Paul attack the Sand Harvester you can see it happen for a quick moment.
God, this is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Watching this in IMAX was a life changing experience.

Watching this movie in the Dolby Atmos theater has been the best experience of my life in theaters, it is truly incredible. This is cinema!!

Timothy chalamet did a great job. Hans zimmer like usual music on point. Just Zendya’s role was not convincing and they rushed the war, made the emperor and his army a joke. I wish they played this movie in two parts to be honest and fixed these issues

It kind of bugged me that they never actually explain how the worm riding works. I guess this is an example of "show, don't tell".

They use the hooks to pull up the worms outer plates, exposing those vents you can see at 2:00. Worms don't like getting too much sand in the vents, so they don't dive while they're open.

Paul is without goggles before he makes the jump, and then somehow they are on.
Still great scene though. The gushes of sand hitting the rider really highlight how hard it is. It also seems that tehy used rocket engine crackle as a sound effect
They’re on before they’re just clean and covered by his mask. If you look closely you can see them
They have auto-visors that automatically raise or lower. You see them raise up when Paul and Chani are running during the harvester attack scene.

Hmm so the worm never go back underground and let u ride on his skin surface for long time.
Its because they lift those "plates" or "rings" on the sandworm. Getting sand in there is irritating so they stay on the surface and don't burrow themselves again.
