    Word of advice, Always... Make sure to take off the inlet first, simply to make sure you can fill it once you drain it, sounds like a dumb comment, but I've seen many people work their ass off to get the seized exit drain plug off only to strip the inlet plug then they can't fill it

    The job is easier if the drain & fill bolts are sprayed with WD40 hours or days before replacing the fluid.

    Hi KFlo - love your videos. Very basic question but did you have to remove any factory "skid" plates to get access to the front diff? All of the videos I have seen don't mention this step or show it. Thanks. I have a 2015 DCSB TRD OR. Thanks.

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  Před 4 lety +3

      No need. You can see at 0:44 that the skid plate is still on the truck

    How can you check fluid level to see if it is low?

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  Před 2 lety +1

      You open up the fill plug and either look through the hole or stick your finger into there. You'll be able to tell by touch if the lubricant is at the same level as the fill hole or well below it.

    What is differential oil that you use for the front? For the rear is different ? I am not sure if i need to use the same, I have a 2005 toyota tacoma prerunnner

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  Před 4 lety

      Go to Amazon.kflo-krib.com to see my list of maintenance fluid recommendation. I use 75w90 for the rear diff. You have a prerunner so you dont have a front diff. If you're talking about the transmission fluid I use MT90 because mine is manual

  • @projectponderer
    @projectponderer Před 2 lety

    My 01 tacoma has the rear diff lock (button) do I need a specific gear oil or synthetic 75w90

  • @clutchitup8565
    @clutchitup8565 Před 6 lety +1

    mt 90 is manual transmission fluid just to let you know

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  Před 5 lety

      Righty oh again! BUT Keep in mind MT90 is still a viscosity equivalent to 75W90 which is the proper grade for that gear system and IT IS designed for gear shifting in manual transmissions. The front diff does have a shifting collar for going into 2WD, 4HI and 4LO. Therefore, I went with this one for smooth gear shifting!

    Do they make Fumuto valve for the diff?

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  Před 3 lety

      I'm not sure if they make any specific to the diff. You can contact the manufacturer to see if they have the proper pitch and thread size for that as well as probably the diff, transfer case and transmission. That's a pretty good idea though

  • @scratchmaster76
    @scratchmaster76 Před 3 lety

    I thought you said use 75-90 fluid for differentials and mt90 for trans fluid?

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  Před 3 lety

      MT 90 is 75W-90 for Manual Transmission. I used MT-90 for the front because it's very similar to the manual transmission with the synchro ring engaging the stub shaft for the diff

      Those top bolts look tough to attack, as well as getting the repaired unit into place without messing up the RTV sealant.
