Amazing! Thanks again Jordan, it was pure genius.
Your family is amazing! Thanks for stopping by and letting me play with your gold.
Thank you all for providing great content I subscribe to his channel
Beautiful! They all are. I subbed, too.
Looked like the Fraiser river in B.C. Don't know, am I close?
Gridlessness is hands down my favorite CZcams channel. I love the Saturday mornings when I fire up my computer and see that a new Gridlessness video is in my CZcams feed. You're right. They are very talented people. Without a doubt each member of that family is a quick study natural. Jeff and Rose have spent so much quality time with their children and it shows. All five of those girls are very special. The entire family is very special. They hunt, fish, work on cars, they off-road mud-bog in their 4x4's, they woodwork, metalwork, leatherwork, prospect for gold, build buildings, raise horses, goats, chickens, pigs, dogs, grow their own food, they not only play Ice hockey, but they built their own ice hockey rink on the property. Sarah and Abagail built their own tiny house.
I know I'm leaving stuff out. They have all developed so many skills it can be hard to remember all the different things that they know how to do well.
Jeff seems to be relentlessly thinking of new and more challenging projects for the family to work on or work towards. Jeff is an electrical engineer so naturally he's passing those skills along to his daughters. These girls have math skills that are (to say the least) very impressive. Jeff and Rose have said that this life they chose to live is not just about raising their children... but Jeff and Rose endeavor to raise five very special, unique, and exceptional human beings. I have been watching Jeff and Rose do this for quite some time now. From the outside looking in I can tell you that Jeff and Rose have definitely attained their loftiest goal already.
Now if I were 18 again I would definitely be trying to figure out a way to meet my favorite Birkenshaw sister in hopes of possibly marrying her. But alas in this world that goal is truly unattainable. Besides... My favorite Birkenshaw sister changes all the time. So it's definitely for the best that I'm far too old for them. Anyway... All impossible dreams aside. If you haven't figure it out already... I really do L0VE the Birkenshaw family quite a lot. I suggest that everybody watch their channel and in turn do the best that they can do to emulate these good people. The more good people that can figure out a way to live their lives like The Birkenshaw family lives their lives... the faster the world will naturally become a much better place for all of us to live. Thanks to the Birkenshaw family... you have my subscription friend.
Take care. sincerely, Dean O. :-I
P.S. I'm sure that after awhile one or more of the Birkenshaw sisters will decide to get serious about goldsmithing. It will be one more gift added to a seemingly endless and impressive repertoire of Birkenshaw skills, aptitude's, and special accomplishments. Have a Happy New Year!
Beautiful! It really looks like the One Ring to rule them all. Love your work and your channel, Happy New Year!
This by far is the closest I've come to replicating that ring, mostly just due to how much gold was used!
@@moderngoldsmith keep going and soon the ring will have powers
Literally man that ring almost didn’t leave your finger.
@@moderngoldsmithone ring to rule them all
One ring to find them
One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
It must be cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came.
I totally thought it was a LOTR ring from the thumbnail! What a cool opportunity to use gold that a family sourced themselves!!! It was also super awesome that the end weight was so insanely close to the start weight!
I hope he knows what he is doing forging that ring... a hobbit will have to take that to mount doom
lord of the ring or loss of the ring or lack of the ring or love of the ring
I thought the title said ‘From Middle Earth’ and I got excited 😅
Hello from 🇨🇦 near Sudbury Ontario ☺️ Gridlessness sent me over 👍🏻I've been watching them for awhile, saw the vids of most of their gold hunts, exciting to see their efforts on their beautiful fingers, Thanks for making it happen for them 👍🏻 Look forward to see how Dad's ring turns out ☺️
Thanks for sharing this insightful video sir. You are an amazing craftsman and the rings you produced for Jeff and his ladies are beautiful. Wishing you and your family a blessed weekend and a terrific new year. Peace brother
Gridlessness, an amazing family. Very smart and entertaining. I recommend folks watching their videos. Jeff’s ring you made in this video looks great. You do awesome work. Thanks for sharing this.
Great sequel to Gridlessness'' onw with you. I knew there was a lot of finesse in making jewelry, but your care and restraint (in not keeping it for yourself, lol) in losing any of the 24 K was inspiring. I will be looking forward to seeing more of your artristy in future episodes.
Fascinating, not my normal viewing but I love the craftsmanship and hands on so I subscribed! Came from the gridlessness video.
Im a fan of gridlessness so I wanted to watch the vid to support you as well. Seems you did a fine job and are very good at what you do. Cheers from Maine
I follow the Gridlessness family and just watched the video of you helping them make all the rings. ( Those girls catch on quick to anything they are learning!) So of course, I had to come watch what you did with Jeff's ring! That is a BIG ring, and you did a wonderful job in keeping any loss of gold to a minimum. Great video, and I enjoyed the quick look into how the rings are made. Happy New Year!
New subscriber. Hear from the wonderful family gridlessness channel. You do beautiful work and it was pretty cool you let them all have a part in creating their own "precious" rings!
No other jewelry making channel has as much heart and soul in it as yours does ❤️ this is so beautiful on wo many levels!
I just discovered it. The One Ring spoke to me.
HAPPY NEW YEAR JORDAN !!! I hope this 2023 we can enjoy more and more of your projects because are totally amazing. However, this year I was lucky enough to have one of your rings (an engagement ring you did for me), and I can't say anything other than it's absolutely perfect, thank you so much for doing this project for me.
Wow thank you so much!! I’m not sure which ring was yours but I’m so happy that you love it! Happy new year!
I thought you did an epic job on this ring and the walk thru was detailed and thorough. Great ‼️
Another new subscriber from the Gridlessness family you do spectacular work and looking forward to watching your channel, from Scotland.
Loved the Gollum moment at the end. I was already thinking "that ring looks an awful lot like..." and then you came in with that little flourish. Awesome 🙂
Watched the Grislessness premiere , enjoyed your personality and decided to subscribe
I am a gridlessness follower and had seen the video they made of the rings for the girls -- WOW -- it's amazing the amount of time, concentration and effort that goes into making metal rings. I make rings out of colorful acrylic, and did have a large ring made out of white gold 40 years ago with a Peruvian Turquoise and it weighs 30 grams. It's very comfortable to wear. The one you made in this video was beautiful as well as creative to make -- thanks from NH -- Happy New Year.
Excellent video! You do great work. I would like to design a ring like that with some of my scrap gold (and small diamonds).
wow beautiful ring well done Jordan and happy new year to you
👍👍👍👍👍 I really like the heft and simplicity of the ring. NICE. You letting them have a part in creating their own rings in your shop really made their video special because you made their rings more special by giving them that opportunity.
Congratulations!! Happy New Year to you and your family and friends ♥️
I've followed Gridlessness for a couple years now and thanks to them I've found your channel now I'm subbed to you as well you do amazing work and can't wait to see what's to come
I watched them digging the gold along the river. These 2 episodes of seeing them all get rings was really fascinating. Great job.
This was really fun to watch, love the ring, love the narration, thank you!
Stunning ring. Super nice craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing
Sauron's last project of the year! Loved it! Happy new year!!!
Beautiful work! This year, as part of my entrance into silversmithing as a new career, I decided to refine my own gold from scratch and make my own 24k gold ring. It is so validating and refreshing to see the same challenges and solutions I had with mine come up for you, and also to see you cherish every single milligram of gold by trying to retain as much weight as possible, just as I did. Cheers!
How did you do it? I have about two ounces and i would like to purify it to 22 k or so and make a ring so i can put it on my chain... But really difficult to do so without alot of expensive tools!
@@GOLD_FEVER I worked as a lab technician in an inorganic chemistry lab years ago so the chemistry is second nature to me. I inquarted the crude gold with fine silver until purity was less than 6k then dissolved all but the mostly pure gold in hot nitric acid, then dissolved the gold in aqua regia and precipitated it with sodium dithionite, and melted it into a bar in a crucible with a HHO torch. It does take proper lab equipment to refine gold safely - a reflux setup and fume hood are mandatory.
Great job. I'm sure Jeff and the gang will appreciate your craftsmanship.
Greetings from the mountains of southern BC about 12 hours south of the Gridlessness folks. Thanks for the educational video and for taking the time to help the family as well as craft that wonderful heirloom. Best to you in 2023.
You did great! It is a phenomenal piece.
I am from northern BC … been watching Gridless fora while now . What a great project … such a success
Fantastic tutorial...
And a Beautiful Ring!!!!
Fantastic video. I like the way the ring landed so solid after steam cleaning. Have a very Happy New Year and looking forward to your videos in 2023.
Amazing job, very cool to see. Thanks for sharing!
Love your tools!!! Hoping one day I can apprentice around for ya! 🎉
Aaah I reaaaally enjoyed how you explained while doing. I am a jeweler student and hearing how you do/think things the same or different was so fun 😄
I’m so happy to hear that! Thanks for watching :)
@@moderngoldsmith hi
SO intrigued with jewelry making!!! Love this video!💯🥰💯

Waving hi from SF! great video!
Wonderful video for such a special project! I really enjoyed this video and the LOTR reference too, which was inevitable! 😂

Great Vid, Jordan. Ya got another sub here. I've been subbed to Jeff, Rose & family since pretty much when they started. 🖖
The end was my favorite.
Well done and very witty. Thanks!
I just found your channel and I love you please make more!
Thank you for sharing this video with us. Awesome ❤❤❤
Very sweet! I have paned 15grams from that same river in BC and am looking to get a family ring made for my wife and daughter. Excellent job! ⛏️
that lord of the ring spiel at the end cracked me up 😂😂😂 was thinking about LODR myself with that ring
I have a combination roller from Pepetools and I love it. Use it more often than I use my Durston ring stretcher/sizer.👍
I cant believe pure gold is THAT soft!!! Absolutely beautiful!!!
Awesome content brother! Thoroughly enjoyed, keep it up 🤙👌🍻
This is a brilliant idea for amateur/hobby gold miners! Would love to have a ring made of the same gold I found
Your channel sparked me to start making gold jewelry. Awesome man.
Outstanding video! The ring looks very nice. Happy new Year, Thank you!
Thanks Nicole! Same to you!
Beautifuly done, the ending bit killed me as I am a huge LOTR fan 😂 🍻
I'm absolutely amazed by your work!!!
I was just thinking lotr when you did the gollum thing. Lol that was great and made me laugh.
Here from Gridlessness. Awesome stuff!
Beautiful work. Your vids are excellent.
Came over from Gridlessness you are amazing brother great crafting
Great video and so glad you did the lotr reference lol I was thinking that the entire way through
Love it, stunning ring! 👍🏼
I can’t believe I missed you video by a week, can’t wait to watch it.
I’m so glad 24K jewellery is finally gaining some attention. ❤
Though I’m not a jeweller, I have found out through trial and error that burnishing pure gold gets a better mirror finish than polishing it. How that helps!
Another option is fusing the ring closed. It's a finicky process, but the gold remains unadulterated. And to make 24k shiny, burnishing is a great option.
what a fantastic video and beautiful ring you made. I am trying to finish off a 999 solid silver ( to be hallmarked ) ring for my wife for our 25th anniversary. Only weeks away!! Yikes. And did I mention it is my FIRST ring I have ever made! But I do a lot of silverwork. I hope to move into gold soon. Thank you again and Happy New Year
Let’s go!! Silver is the perfect starter metal. Less expensive and you can hone your skills. Then when you move to gold you’ll realize it’s even easier to work with, and that will make you really happy. Happy new year! Great job!
@Modern Goldsmith thank you and Happy New Year to you as well.
Super interesting to learn what goes into making a ring.
Your videos are always fun and educational to watch ❤
You Sir have some amazing skills. I'm not a huge fan of yellow gold, but it's value is truly astonishing. That is a beautiful ring👍👍
I came from Gridlessness, to see the result.
That ring is so beautiful. Truly amazing. 🤘🏼
I came to see from Gridlessness. Great work, and so interesting
That looks amazing! And I loved the my precious bit so funny
You should've used that very small piece of 24k gold that was left on the ingot mold to fuse the ring instead of solder. Amazing work and nice video!
that came out beautiful... good job
Really great video! Instant subscription.
Oh, that was so wonderful to watch.
It’s so beautiful. The my precious at the end is dope 😂
Wow! Nice work.
Lovely video.. BTW how do u get back the gold dust spread around in the process.
I watched them pan that gold and you making the rings for the girls. Jeff will be thrilled with his, great work.
I was waiting for a LOTR reference from the moment i started the video. Loved it
*Modern Goldsmith* Bravo well done, thank-you sir for taking the time to bring us along. GOD Bless. (( New Sub ))
Beautiful work 👌🏻
Refined gold is 24k , natura gold has copper silver led n other metals . prospect gold is 21k to 23k . Arizona is 21kto22k Alaska is 22k to 23k. Unless a little help refine at home. Nice video.
Nice ring and also nice skills mate, you got yourself a new daily subscriber
Cool deal, thanks for sharing.
I loved the whole video, and the lotr ending. COOL !
Something about simple gold rings that is actually so calling and so much making me feel like i want my own pure gold ring
The part with Gridlessness was entirely too wholesome. That must have been an awesome experience for them to smith their own keepsakes from scratch.
It really was a fun experience!
Beautiful- and hilarious ending, Precious
It's interesting... in every video game I play where it's an option. I always choose to be a Jeweler/Goldsmith/Metal Crafter. Always had a fascination with metals and jewelry and it's even more amazing to see this process in action in any way shape or form, it's just endlessly fascinating to me. While most kids were playing with toys and things in school I was sitting there reading my big book of gemstones... strange how I never did anything with that In reality!
The ring looks beautiful in the end. It's crazy how many different tools go into making a loop of gold.
Laser welders are fantastic. Steep learning curve to mastery, but you could be sizing rings day one. Laserstar, sunstone, asiga, rofin, and more. Btw, I 3D design and 3D print. I want one day to upgrade from Blender to 3Design (Firestorm CAD, and Jewelry CAD Dream are also pretty interesting), and from a Form3 to a solidscape.
Wow! That ring looks awesome!!
That Lord of the ring reference was well timed!
