A security camera captured the moment an adopted household Cat saved a one-year-old baby from falling down a steep flight of stairs.
Gatubela, the Siamese Cat isn’t just looking out for her own nine lives.
In a video captured by an office security camera in Bogota, Colombia on October 31, one-year-old baby Samuel León can be seen crawling around outside of his crib, when suddenly the little baby began heading for the doorway which immediately led to a steep flight of stairs.
Springing into action, Gatubela pounced on the boy, and forcefully pushed him back from the 12-step stairwell and the horrific incident that would have followed.

Did anyone else notice how she initially tried to “scruff” the child when she rushed in from behind? Then quickly realized this was her human baby she couldn’t pick up. She had a lightening speed reaction and the ability to correct her strategy in a split second.

You're so right! She tried so hard to grab that scruff!
Exactly.
Yeah huh!
Yes!! Such a smart cat. Momma instincts kicked in immediately.
1. Child was not left unattended, he escaped the crib during the night. It was 5AM.
2. This is Bogota, Columbia. Life isn't easy there for most people, they most likely don't have another bedroom for the child.
3. This cat is a Hero. Her name is Gatubela, which literally translates to Catwoman in spanish! She lives up to her name!
Thank you for providing context.

The cat understood that this human is a baby and in danger and it cared enough to protect the baby. That is an amazing amount of comprehension that the cat has for life around it, and an amazing ability to think about and rationalise all this information.
So amazing
@@theheretic65 It is not an assumption because it is taken from observation.
@@theheretic65 the proof is the video evidence. You are simply unable to rationalise what you see. The evidence is no good to those without the intelligence to process it. In any case, I will do it for you. The cat can tell the difference between a cat and a human because they need the ability to tell the difference between animals to survive in the wild. They can also tell the difference between adult and child and know that young are more vulnerable. They can also see by the actions of animals, how capable or vulnerable they are, such as by the way they move around and their general behaviour. They must be able to protect their kittens when in danger. The cat can identify that this is a human and that it is a baby. And it can identify that the baby is in danger. Cats do not frantically spend energy for no reason. The cat acted in great hurry. The cat felt some need to act frantically. The cat went straight for the child and opposed the baby, preventing the baby from going in the direction that it was going and forcing the baby to go in a different direction. The cat, at that time was in opposition to the baby. That opposition took the baby out of danger.

It’s a small video, so it could be out of context and by that logic I can agree. Hopefully they celebrated with the cat.

The fact that cats are so quick and agile with their reaction time is amazing! Cats know how to gently use their paws when dealing with babies too. Truly intelligent and responsible.
After cat run around baby she tried to push him to opposite direction with her paws wide open. You can see it when she turned her head left she pushed her right "shoulder" forward, then turned her head and pushed with left one and repeated a few times. She need to switch "shoulders" fast to sustain enough force to push effective while also reduce pressure on her sides. It is clearly visible that cat was trying to push toddler away of something with this mechanic and not trying to hurt him. Majestic creature.

Exacly, look at the fucking mess
This happened over sixty years ago. I was four years old and stayed at home with my grandmother when my parents left for work. When my grandmother left me alone for a while and went to the bakery for bread, I tried to light the fire with matches and paper. My grandmother's old cat did not allow me to pick up matches, she hissed and growled terribly and beat me on the hands with a paw. While this was going on, my grandmother returned. And yes, I lived in a completely wooden house.
If I was the mom, the cat wouldn’t have to bother. Good cat, bad parents.
The way the cat carefully pushed him back was the cutest ❤

My thoughts exactly
The understanding between the baby and the cat is so amazing , the baby tried to resist then understood the feline sibling has his best interests at heart and gave up trying ❤
The fact the cat didn't think it's his baby (cats fall on their paws anyway) but still felt responsable to help a vulnerable baby.
nonsense. poople believe every dramatization and always humanize animals, The cat was displaying playful behaviour. If you look at the start of the video the cat was already playing with the baby and I BET the longer version of the video shows the very start of when the baby first crawled out you'd see the cat was already playing. which is why the video owner intenionally cut out the first minutes of the video.
@hassansanem4853 oh shut up. most animals can have protective behaviour toward those it sees as its clan or pack, especially if they're young and vulnerable. that's not humanizing anything those are literal animal facts. the cat literally rushed just as it saw the baby crawling for the stairs, made a frantic effort to push it back, held its paws up so it wouldn't approach the stairs again and then instinctively tried to carry the baby back to safety by the back collar til it remembwred it's a big human baby and it couldn't. that's not playful behaviour, that's learned protective animal behaviour. we're not saying the cat stood on its hind legs and gave a long-winded scold to the baby while wiggling a finger at it like a scolding grandfather to then take it away by the hand.
I like the fact that the cat stays there for a while , making sure the baby won't do it again, till the baby went back. It really amazed me
Animals don't get the credit they deserve! They are so smart and have just as many or more feelings then we do and instincts to save and help, and not hurt like humans! 🤨
She is the best momma cat ever!
@A Viewer
Now that you have the proof, how do you feel? Obviously you never had a cat and have no idea about their body language. Playing you say? Ha.

In reality, the cat was actually just playing. The toddler was so lucky that he reached for the cat in the chair prompting the cat to play with him. You can see some kind of reaction on the cat to play more when the toddler crawls away. The cat then responds to his urges and went for the baby. I had no idea cats were babysitters. Give that cat a raise.
Lol
+1 Mouse
A lot more catnip, a lot more scrubs, a lot more treats: all for that cute kitty’s raise (:

This cat is a better parent than many human parents. Where is this child's mother?
As I've always said. They are ANGELS.
I'm amazed at two things: the human-like reasoning of that cat... and how nasty that room looks.
I think that insight should really reformulate your idea of human- like reasoning to just reasoning
@@anidemolimacnauj Good point.
I'm wondering why no one else is mentioning the room. Yeah kid almost going down stairs is hazardous but that room though...That kid ain't safe just yet. Cat's got more surveying to do.
I also do not see stairs....
😂😂😂😂
If this isn't proof of high intelligence I don't know what is. Cat didn't just react. It predicted what the outcome would be.

Though the cat is silent… I can imagine the internal dialogue 😂. Just incredible. Glad the kid did fall.
