A security camera captured the moment an adopted household Cat saved a one-year-old baby from falling down a steep flight of stairs.
Gatubela, the Siamese Cat isn’t just looking out for her own nine lives.
In a video captured by an office security camera in Bogota, Colombia on October 31, one-year-old baby Samuel León can be seen crawling around outside of his crib, when suddenly the little baby began heading for the doorway which immediately led to a steep flight of stairs.
Springing into action, Gatubela pounced on the boy, and forcefully pushed him back from the 12-step stairwell and the horrific incident that would have followed.

Did anyone else notice how she initially tried to “scruff” the child when she rushed in from behind? Then quickly realized this was her human baby she couldn’t pick up. She had a lightening speed reaction and the ability to correct her strategy in a split second.

@@theheretic65 the proof is the video evidence. You are simply unable to rationalise what you see. The evidence is no good to those without the intelligence to process it. In any case, I will do it for you. The cat can tell the difference between a cat and a human because they need the ability to tell the difference between animals to survive in the wild. They can also tell the difference between adult and child and know that young are more vulnerable. They can also see by the actions of animals, how capable or vulnerable they are, such as by the way they move around and their general behaviour. They must be able to protect their kittens when in danger. The cat can identify that this is a human and that it is a baby. And it can identify that the baby is in danger. Cats do not frantically spend energy for no reason. The cat acted in great hurry. The cat felt some need to act frantically. The cat went straight for the child and opposed the baby, preventing the baby from going in the direction that it was going and forcing the baby to go in a different direction. The cat, at that time was in opposition to the baby. That opposition took the baby out of danger.

@hassansanem4853 oh shut up. most animals can have protective behaviour toward those it sees as its clan or pack, especially if they're young and vulnerable. that's not humanizing anything those are literal animal facts. the cat literally rushed just as it saw the baby crawling for the stairs, made a frantic effort to push it back, held its paws up so it wouldn't approach the stairs again and then instinctively tried to carry the baby back to safety by the back collar til it remembwred it's a big human baby and it couldn't. that's not playful behaviour, that's learned protective animal behaviour. we're not saying the cat stood on its hind legs and gave a long-winded scold to the baby while wiggling a finger at it like a scolding grandfather to then take it away by the hand.

In reality, the cat was actually just playing. The toddler was so lucky that he reached for the cat in the chair prompting the cat to play with him. You can see some kind of reaction on the cat to play more when the toddler crawls away. The cat then responds to his urges and went for the baby. And it just so happens to happen as the baby reaches the edge. The "panicky" gesture that you see when the cat bit him is just it playing. Those were playful bites.
