    Great vid! Thanks!
    Ford recommends not to place oil on the new filters rubber seal.
    Also, I always fill with oil, start the engine and check for leaks prior to replacing the plate and shield.

    Thanks for the upload. Just bought the same truck and was wondering how to change the oil with the skid plates.
    Buy an oil filter wrench, not the swivel kind, to help with taking off the filter. It will save a lot of time if it ever gets stuck.

      What kind of oil filter wrench did you get?

    Pennzoil ultra platinum with purolator boss oil filter. Way better than fords synthetic blend junk or valvoline

    I loosen the back driver's side screw on cover and just turning backwards instead of taking it all the way off.give it a try.

    How did you take the filter out and what tool did you use?

      I just use my hands to remove the filter. There are tools you can buy but I haven't needed one as of yet.

    If you are not going to use Motorcraft oil, I would recommend you use Castrol Edge full synthetic. It has the rating that ford recommends for turbo charged engines. It's something to do with positive pressure in the crankcase and oil mist.

    Don’t use valvoline it’s not good.
    For the price buy fords synthetic blend. Ecoboosts are designed to run on a special weight oil . To thin and it’s bad for the cam phasers
    Plus buying ford approved products won’t void your warranty .
    Save your receipts , if you have issues then it will save you.

    When taking off the old filter, did it get oil everywhere over the top of the skid plate? I just got one of these a month ago and was wondering how much cleanup to expect if going through the oil filter access plate.

      @rutbuster88  Před rokem +1

      Not really, as long as you don’t tilt the old filter too far one way or the other you shouldn’t spill any oil. I’ve done 5 oil changes on mine and spilled a little oil one of those times.

    Way too early for high mileage oil. It has additive to swell gaskets and seals. Not good this early.

      You know I saw that (formulated for high mileage vehicles) but figured it was an advertising gimic since Motorcraft is also 5w30 synthetic blend. I will not buy Valvline next time - thanks.

      @@rutbuster88don’t listen to this clown. There is no statistical data showing high mileage oil causing premature wear on any engine components including gaskets and seals. Just use quality oil and the correct intervals

    Did you remove the skid plates?

    • @rutbuster88
      @rutbuster88  Před 10 měsíci

      No, didn't need to. Just removed the small cover on the front skid plate.

      @rutbuster88 thanks man. My drain plug is blocked by the skid plate, unless I'm smoking something

    • @rutbuster88
      @rutbuster88  Před 10 měsíci

      Sorry, you do have to remove a "fabric" like cover to get to the drain plug. I don't consider it really a skid plate so misunderstood you there.
