    3:39 ...biggest misconception...In southern India deepavali is celebrated in more ritualistic way In Karnataka people take early morning oil bath, pray to ancestors, draw big rangoli and keep the decorated cowdung ball at center of rangoli and we also light up the diya at entrance of the house for the next 15 days after the festival .Like this I can go on with the list of celebration 😅 Happy Deepaavali guys😊

    That parbal mithai is called kheer patol in West bengal. They are often found in renowned kolkata shops. The pointed gourds are soaked in sugar syrup and that silver work is done for decoration and the dry slightly sweetened khoya, dry fruits act as the stuffing. Quite popular with locals. Possibly he never saw one here or does not like sweets very much

    The point said by Rohit at 7:56 is ditto what I feel (however I never was attracted towards every sweet a lot since my birth) there were used to be only some specific sweets that I like very much (even today) like gulab jamun, besan/motichoor laddoo, kaju barfi, shondesh & mishti doi...that's it, only these countable number of sweets I like...for eg if I am offered a plate of any of these sweets & a plate of something savoury like burger, pizza, paratha, butter chicken, etc. like anything, I may take a bit of the sweet but won't finish the whole plate of it while I'll be finishing the whole dish on the other hand...

    Areyyyy Biswas bhaisaab - Literally Diwali/Deepavali is one festival which is celebrated extremely well all over the country! Yes people in Bangalore do celebrate it like people in “North India” 😊 I agree Holi is a North Indian festival but not Diwali 😊 Happy Diwali/Deepavali ✨🪔

    I am a Bong living in Kolkata. We have Kali Pujo during Diwali, so it is celebrated just like Durga Puja. But of course, Durga Puja se intensity kam hota hai.

    Rohit, you have not seen Deepawali in South India!!! That's the biggest festival for us in Karnataka along with Yugadi!! There is no place that doesn't do Laxmi puja! I l moved to US and I still perform it!! For us it's a 4 day festival that starts with the choti Diwali as you call and end with govardhan puja!!

      @@b12abhaypatel7 we celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi too with big pandals festivities ranging from 1 day to 11 days.(I'm myself a Marathi who was born and raised in Karnataka). So I know the importance of this one. Every nook and corner has Ganesh idol where kids pitch in money to bring Ganesha, perform puja till the day of visarjan!
      Then we have Yugadi which is our new year again celebrated with equal fervor! Dasara is not celebrated like Bengal but you may have heard of Mysore Dasara celebrations! I have already explained Deepawali above. These are all major festivals, celebrated on bigger larger scale, with Puja, sweet dishes, new clothes etc. and then we have some smaller ones like Sankranti, nag panchami , janmashtami, shiv ratri etc. I'm talking about only Karnataka as I can't comment on other states! Kerala has onam, vishu that I know. Other states have their own ones too!

    Rasgulla is originally a Odisha sweet. It recently got the GI Tag too.
    Rasgulla was made in Bengal in 1860s. On the other hand, rasgulla was made in Odisha in 12th century.
    So originally rasgulla is from Odisha

    Anyway with the color you can see that Rasagolla are different in Orissa and Bengal and it's good that both the versions have their own GI tags..They are simply as different as Mozzarella and Gouda cheese are 😛😛
