  • Todays walk started and ended at the Monsal Head Car Park. Great views from the little picnic spot at the car park itself. Then it was a short walk to Monsal Head itself. I chose to take on this walk anti-clockwise so it placed me in Bakewell for lunchtime.
So from Monsal Head, I headed down to Monsal Weir and subsequently through Monsal Dale, a pretty little start to the walk. A steep incline came as I headed out of Monsal Dale and diverted in the direction of Magpie Mine. A fantastic little bit of history here and a spot which I spent quite a lot of time exploring.
As I left Magpie Mine, I headed towards Ashford-in-the-Water, a pretty little place beside the river and always a photo opportunity. Then it was on to Bakewell, where, as I mentioned, I popped in to the chippy to grab some lunch. From there it was a simple plod back for an hour along the Monsal Trail and through Headstone Tunnel, which, once out the other end it was a brief climb back out to where I started.
A map of this walk can be found at: explore.osmaps.com/route/1902...
And lastly, I'm in no way paid for my videos, I make them purely for my own memories and hopefully to inspire family, friends and you guys to get out and enjoy our beautiful countryside. I'm no pro but I do enjoy the challenge of putting videos together. Critique is welcomed, criticism is not. If you enjoy my content, why not buy me a drink via www.buymeacoffee.com/PipesHikes

We had a nice circular walk from Bakewell which ended up at Magpie mine. It included the incline at 4:15. It was in the wet and it nearly finished us off.

Great video Anthony. It's a long while since we visited Magpie Mine, so great to see it again on here.

It’s a lovely area the Peak District. I actually have the ability to travel through time and visited a few weeks ago back in the year 1582. It’s a very different place to what it is now.

Another great video, Anthony. thanks. What kind of watch do you use? I have a Garmin Forerunner but it doesn't do maps so I've been looking around and noticed yours does.

Thanks Dan. I use the Garmin Fenix 6 Pro. I made the mistake of ordering the non Pro version at first and that doesn’t have maps so it does need to be the ‘Pro’ version. It does come with its own maps which are ok but I use some from TalkyToaster (main.talkytoaster.me.uk) as for the cheap price, I think they’re excellent.
