It's made of American Steel and manufactured in Humboldt, Kansas. If you check out the Amazon link, you'll see that this is the #1 top rated trailer hitch from April 2021. Just bought this exact one. Love it. One correction about the anti theft, it can be stolen. I used the 1st hole as indicated in the manual and the 2nd hole. I was able to get the swing arm portion off easily. Contacted the company and they are sending me the anti theft plate to fill the gap between the end of the receiver and the flat portion on the hitch. I have a 2019 Ram 1500 with a stock receiver.

    It still sticks out but the real down side is it hangs down too low . It would tear the hell out of my driveway and worse on the dip on my driveway .

      They also make a 3" drop that doesn't stick down as far. I went' with the 5" just to have that extra versatility.

    I might have to get one of these. My current hitch is a adjustable aluminum one. I recently needed to remove it after a year of being in. The steal pin was stuck. The pin had to be cut and beat out of it. I have a new pin covered in never-seez installed now. Not sure if that will stop the seizing.

      Hard to say. Aluminum and steel seem to need a rubber barrier in my experience. I also have an aluminum hitch and the key is to not leave them touching for too long. If you use the hitch daily, I'd be interested to know how the never-seez works.

    So with so many pins how many locks do you need to keep from getting stolen

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 2 měsíci

      Great question, just the 1 lock pin that attaches to the vehicle. The rest of it is secured and doesn’t detach, it only adjusts.

    Which would you choose, the Andersen or the b&w? I had a b&w and it got stolen. I wasn’t a big fan of the double pin design honestly. Also didn’t like how heavy it was if I’m being honest. I found I didn’t even adjust it that much and just set it in a spot that both trailers would work just okay and that was that. I only even spun the ball around from 2 5/16 to 2 inch and back. I also noticed that after using it for 2 or so years, the hitch was starting to rust. That made me nervous as well. I ordered the Andersen aluminum a couple days ago and am looking forward to trying it out.

      The Andersen has held up well for me and is much lighter. I can't say that I have a favorite, but like that the B&W can fold in. I used to camp with my truck, and my hitch always seemed to be a hazard when trying to walk around a tight camp sight.

    F150 which size is best 3, 5 or 7 inch drop?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I used to have a F150 but didn't have this hitch at the time. I'd say a 5 inch drop would work best.

    $240 not bad for one stout hitch

      👍 It's heavy and very solid! You can see the fine craftsmanship that went into making this hitch.

    Does it rattle around much while towing ?

  • @highdesertexplorer123

    Does the ball actually come out or just spin? Also, any idea if locking pins will fit through the adjustment holes?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před rokem

      The ball just spins, it doesn't come out from the hitch. The 3 locking pins are all the same size. The pin that holds the hitch to the vehicle is a different size though.

    personally I dont like that the dual ball only mounts with a single pin.
