Where that barge hit is right in front of Texas A&M University Galveston Campus. That is the only maritime academy in the Gulf Coast Region. Not only is it a maritime academy, they also have degree programs geared towards the “blue economy “. In 2025 the university is going to receive a brand new 524 foot (160meter) training ship as part of the US Department of Transportation National Security Multi-Mission Vessel program. In the 1990s I worked on Seismograph Ships for a company called Western Geophysical that docked next door to the university. Sometimes there can be a pretty strong current going towards that bridge and if you have a loss of control of your vessel it can definitely get serious in a hurry. I was a mate on a 180’ boat and I remember smashing the dock pretty hard once when the wind and currents caught me off guard.
Hello just an FYI the barge is a 30,000 barrel barge. Approx. 42 gallons per barrel, depending on several factors, but 42 is a safe round number.
Probably texting while barging.
Excellent comment.
It it wasn't for the Key Bridge in Baltimore we would have never herd about this one ...
Of course, incidents that are similar are noticed more after a major incident.
Crikey, it's an epidemic. Well done finding this incident so quickly, eSysman. Cheers.
Barges get away from tugs all the time, most never hit anything
I don't know anything about barges, but why don't they have safety ropes like trailers have safety chains ? ...
Thanks my friend.....
Old F-4 II Shoe🇺🇸
Do a Video where you Rank your favourite superyachts or that you would Like to Work in. Would be interesting to hear!
Shocking. These sorts of accidents are very preventable.
Shocking in what way? Barges break away quite often. Most never hit anything other than the shore.
The bridge should have protection to ensure it can cope with this type of incident
@@grondhero Yes they break away often. Because the operators are never held accountable! I suspect that this will change VERY soon.
@@Bigrignohio You think they break away because the operators are never held accountable ? ...Dude !!... think about what you said for just a minute or two ....🤔
Here is a shocker...ALL accidents are preventable .... otherwise it is an act of god ... if it wasn't for accidents we would never learn anything ..
those are heater barges. you can see the tanks for the boiler. It's a 30,000 barrel barge. it may be asphalt. they have to heat asphalt to transfer it.
🤗THANKS ESYSMAN ,FOR THE UPDATE 💚💚💚
Thank you this bridge incident is so important
The island is where the Battleship Texas is being worked on.
That barge must be chock-full... it's sitting VERY LOW in the water.
Expert report, thank you.
The Maui Princess has just run aground off the coast of Lahaina, Maui. There are some aerial shots viewable online.
I have made a video the day Royal Romance was confiscated in Croatia. My yacht was next to them in Trogir.
I can send it to you if you want.
Please do. Send via wetransfer.com to news@esysman.co.uk
It's fortunate that the old railroad trestle took the brunt of it.
? what do yacht owners do in say Florida area when hurricane season arrives and or storms are on the way
Troostwijk sells inventory’s and equipment of businesses that have gone out of business. They will sell everything a company had. This includes office inventory but also cars and any heavy equipment. They also do consignment auctions. They sell internationally. I don’t find it particularly strange they are now selling a super yacht.
Limited is very vague.
Limited to a gallon or Limited to the total amount of the barge. 🤷♂🤣
They can't have Pelican Island over there. La is the Pelican State. Send it back.
Before people start going down the hyperbole path and "it's an attack" paranoia, barges break away quite often. Usually they hit the shore. Even when they hit a bridge, they usually don't do too much damage. (Notice the road is fine, the unused and not maintained railway was damaged.) This is two bridges hit in a year you've been told about. It's not becoming as common as you're pretending it is.
Do a YT search for boat crashes; you'll see barges in there and you'll see boats hitting bridges and doing nothing. That's why the news doesn't cover them, just like they don't cover the daily car crashes that occur.
Ahoy from ft Lauderdale.. here to help
3 giga yachts w dark blue hills entered port Everglades on Monday . Any idea which ones? In random or a fleet?
Send eSysman photos and location info and maybe they will report on it!
The color of Texas water 😣
Thats color of the soil being washed out to sea. Im sure there are some pollutants however this isnt the Caribbean. If youve spent anytime in the Gulf you would know the waters are muddy.
It's the Gulf, which is known for muddy waters. Educate yourself.
@@grondhero People don't have time to educate themselves anymore ...They are too busy flapping their jaws....
Look up Charles Barkley Galveston beaches. It’s a funny story about our waters and beaches.
Not sure why you Keyboard Commando's are harassing TinaBella, she simply noted the color of Texas water. She said nothing about why, didn't ask why, didn't state that anything should be done about it. She simply noted the color.
Perhaps you all should 'educate' YOURSELVES on how to not overreact or be so degrading.
Some people are pretty pathetic...talking to YOU olliefox, grondhero, and davidhelden. Your kids must be proud of you. I feel bad for'em.
“Farming tools and wheelbarrows”…hilarious. Sure, why can’t they hustle a $100 million yacht or whatever it cost? Btw, Tilmam Fertitta’s 77m(252ft7in) & 1,848 GT Feadship “Boardwalk “ is directly outside of our condo building and docked next to his fantastic restaurant, Mastro’s here in Ft Lauderdale
Not another one 😮
Two in one year! OMG! DOOM! DOOM! DOOM! 🙄
Barges break away quite often. They generally don't hit anything other than the shore. Last one I recall hitting something in the US was Oklahoma last year. Hardly "another one."
Why no tugs ? Safety cost $$$ .
The barge was attached to a tug but broke loose.
When you order a bridge crash from Temu
Anyone connecting the dots yet...?
Not a good year to be an American bridge. Barges -2 xx Bridges -0
Enemy action
Don't be stupid.
@@grondheroBro, why are you so hurt?
@@TroyRubert Bro, why are you so dumb ?
@@TroyRubert I'm not hurt. He's being a moron. If you think he's correct, then you're a moron, too. 🤷♂
Ah the third world of America.
Waiting for the Yanks to come up with the inevitable conspiracy theory.
Once is an accident
Twice is a coincidence
Three times is enemy action.
So you think an enemy would target a bridge like this one ...😆😅😂🤣
@@DavidVanHelden1Why would this one piece of infrastructure not be a target even if we were at war?
@@TroyRubert I give up !....🤣 You are a funny guy Troy...
@@DavidVanHelden1 so you had nothing the whole time?
@@TroyRubert I just don't continue conversations with 12 year old's on the internet ...
That Ukr-flagged yacht should be auctioned off and the proceeds returned to the American taxpayers
They are selling the yacht but the money will go to the war effort in Ukraine. Not sure why you think it should go to the US?
@@eSysmanSuperYachts Who do you think is paying to fund the war in Ukraine?
The US is paying some money. The EU and UK combined has actually given more than the US so far.
@@eSysmanSuperYachts We're at $113 Billion of our money and counting, How much of our money is going toward our own weapons companies vs. Ukrainian corruption is unknown but we are literally being robbed by our government to pay for it all. Meanwhile the US is one of the most taxed countries in the world and homelessness and household debt are at multi-year highs, and the currency is being devalued. The US Admin is Ukraine's main support, and it continues to block peace negotiations and thousands on both sides are dying, just to keep the graft ongoing. Our admin needs to go, and the assets of Ukr officials seized, auctioned off, and returned to the taxpayers of the US (and EU/UK if you like).
