  • Fruit juice concentrate sounds healthy, but is it? I explain what fruit juice concentrate is and its effect on your health.
If you are trying to follow a healthy diet, then you have likely started reading food labels a little more closely. You may have noticed that most ingredient labels contain many tricky names. One of the trickiest ingredients is fruit juice concentrate. It sounds healthy, right?

Thank You, Dr. Becky. Yes, you did mention that . . . duly noted. However, I don't see how "fresh" or "natural" OJ is any better than condensed. The only difference, it seems to me, is that condensed has had the water removed and is frozen. Which is better than sitting around, having been pasteurized and subjected to other chemical processes, as is the case with "natural" OJ (unless it's squeezed at the purchasing location). I'm no expert, but it looks to me like condensed, frozen OJ is maybe a little BETTER than those pre-packaged "natural" juices flown in (or trucked in) from FLA. P.S. I really like your videos, and I am pleased you responded. Thanks.

I did it mainly for "the juice" to last longer and also, for water to taste like something... Now, having heard this info, I am even more glad I've had this idea all along!
In any case, thank you, doctor.

Fruit is not the issue. The issue is complex refine sugars from process foods.Fructose are simple sugars known as monosaccharides that the body can assimilate and easily metabolize. It won't spike your blood sugar levels since the body absorbs it slowly. Of course anything in life you do in moderation but you can eat as much fruit as you like since it matches our body chemistry and what the body needs. Alot of us has been misinformed and some sources will confuse and mislead consumers into thinking fruit is detrimental. Fruit is one of nature's medicine.

100 from concentrate with no added sugar means yes, it's the natural sugars but it then kinda takes away from your real fruit intake. There's no limit onnatural sugars, they say aim for 90g a day whilst free sugars is around 20-30g but still control how much natural sugar (fructose) your having as it can't cause the same health issues as free sugar but can still mess with your body in the short term

    • @nicholoussilva5289
      @nicholoussilva5289 Před 2 lety

Yes fructose is a Is monosharride or a simple sugar. I would absolutely not compare sugar to High Fructose Corn Syrup that stuff is horrible for you. The industry says all sugar is created equal which is definitely not at all true.
I also wouldn't compare eating an orange and the sugar you get from that to sugar from concentrated "juice".
End all is to get a juicer at home you press from a Hurom Juicer for instance and make your own authentic juice. Or whole foods ect sells juice they juice from oranges not that stuff in a bottle.

You need sugar to oxidize protein. Sugar regenerates/ induces the growth of the beta cells in the pancreas. If you starve your body of sugar you will fry your liver...
It's really sad how people are so misinformed and blame sugar when the real problem is Polyunsaturated fatty acids that will inhibit the body's ability the break down sugar. Sugar only becomes a problem if your eating polyunsaturated fats which will store in your body for about 4 years until you absolutely stop eating it. Sugar is energy for the body and you need it... especially if your eating a lot of protein.... because you need that sugar to break down the protein,,,, and you need the right type of fat called saturated fat to break down the sugar... but when your eating the polyunsaturated fat your not going to break down the sugar because it's the wrong type of fat... don't blame the sugar blame the PUFA's... and since you need saturated fat to absorb vitamin A, D , E and K... then your going to be sick because you cant absorb those vitamins either when your eating the PUFA's....
For those of you who wake up every morning congested and sneezing.... drink a glass of Orange juice because your liver ran out of glycogen while you were sleeping and this causes the body to make sugar from your own body tissue.... it aint good.... after less than 5 minutes of drinking that orange juice it will go away.....see it almost every day with my wife. The 2 safest foods to eat are Milk and Orange juice and they are both sugars you need every day. However.... avoid the pulp... you can't digest it your not a cow.
Did you know that the best remedy for alcohol poisoning is fructose!

Yeah it just doesn’t make any sense to me It’s easier to consume the juice you get more vitamins because you can drink more than you could eat you get a little more natural sugars but that seems like a small price to pay for the nutrients you wouldn’t be getting any other way and let’s face it eating fruit is disgusting it’s messy things are bursting in your mouth you end up with a weird peel in between your teeth your full but feel unsatisfied fruit eating is just a no go

Some of the things you are showing are not juice at all, so please stop calling them that. Sunny Delight is not juice. It is marketed as a good drink for anyone who wants to try it. The Izzie drink is not marketed as juice. Fruit roll ups are not juice either. Pepsi has many other chemicals in it that is not any most brands of juice. You are trying your best to give people who do not know any better false information. Do you work for a medical company?

Dr. Becky: I'm not sure how "natural" orange juice is any better than concentrated. I am SURE you are aware of the awful practices that the "not from concentrate" OJ producers get away with!

Hi Deny, I believe I stated that not from concentrate was not much better.

I’m so tired of hearing nutritional “experts” palavering on CZcams. Before CZcams existed, people went through life without reading a book, knowing little about nutrition, and they got along just fine. A common-sense approach to eating and not creating a caloric surplus is all that is needed to get through life for most people unless they have a medical need for a special diet or if they are, perhaps, athletes. All these rules and restrictions are unnecessary and, in my opinion, confer no tangible benefit to most people.
You got only 59,000 views, Becky. Sorry about that. I know you were hoping to fatten your bank account with the CZcams endeavor. You didn’t go quite as viral as you had hoped. You couldn’t quit your day job. 😂
