  • In this video, I'll demonstrate my preferred method for chainsaw milling short logs, which I frequently work with. Some I sell, while others I use for crafting charcuterie boards, river charcuterie boards, and cutting boards-short logs offer endless possibilities!
    The black walnut log featured was milled using a Stihl MS 661, Granberg G777 Small Log Mill, and Granberg ripping chain. Granberg is a top provider of chainsaw milling equipment. Visit their website below and apply my coupon code "foxridgeslabs" at checkout to enjoy a 10% discount.

    In 2024, I'm prioritizing better Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and have partnered with RZ Mask to raise awareness about the risks of inhaling dust. Their dust masks, featured in the video, are my favorite-lightweight and effective. Explore their products on their website and use my coupon code "foxridgeslabs" for a 15% discount.

    Great explanation. Do you have any short logs that you’ve milled without doing a time lapse? Curious what the time commitment is per slab.

      I don’t. If I just milled this log without making a video, I could probably do it in 15 minutes or less.

    Hi Levi! I'm interested in the way you fix the mill on your chainsaw. As I see it, the tip of the bar is not fixed to the mill. Is the bar drilled through where the mill holds the bar? Doesn't it get loose by the forces? Thanks, and great contents!!

      Hi, thanks for watching! The mill is clamped to the bar. I’ve milled hundreds of slabs with this mill and It has never moved. Check out Granberg International’s website. I have/use most of their mills and their ripping chains are the best I’ve used. If you choose to pick anything up, my coupon code will save you 10%. Code- foxridgeslabs

    So are you kiln drying the wood at all for your charcuterie boards? What moisture content do they need to be at?

    • @foxridgeslabs
      @foxridgeslabs  Před 7 měsíci

      Yes. I hire a kiln service to dry almost everything I mill. I will have my own kiln one day.

    How would I mill even bottom slabs from driftwood logs with limb knobs and partial limbs still stick out, like a cedar tree drift log, like cut the log in half lengthways but evenly as I want to have 2 live edge slabs or then cut those in 2? Thanks, Kevin

      I would just trim up the top so you can screw a ladder to it. Make a perfect flat cut and then start slabbing.

      I don’t recall saying anything about being a millionaire. This is not my full time job but I did turn what started as a hobby into an LLC.
