This black walnut log wasn’t a very big log, but I knew the slabs were going to turn out absolutely gorgeous. I was especially excited to see how the crotch figure was going to look from the crotch that was up and down. The log was 58” long and 12” to 14” diameter. There are many more advantages you’re not thinking of. One being it’s much easier to saw small diameter logs and short logs using this method. I sell many narrow slabs and short slabs each year.

This mill can be left out in the elements since it’s aluminum. It’s not good to leave a bandsaw mill out in the elements.

I let the log sit for over a year so it would start to spalt.
