- This is a little bit subjective and a little bit objective. But what I've found is that the R3 Turf tires are a better all-around pick than the R4 Industrial tires for use on a relatively lightweight compact tractor. #CompactTractor #Homestead #Tires

100%. I have R4s on my older Kubota B2910 and never liked them. Besides what you mentioned, they have no sideways traction. If you're going across even a small sidehill and there's mud or wet grass, the rear end slips and the tractor feels unstable. I got fluid-filled R1s on my new Kubota (I had to order them special and wait a month), and the traction has been great on the snow and ice. They did tear up my gravel drive a little before the ground froze. When I can put some money into the old Kubota I will put turf tires on it. I don't know why dealers have R4s on everything - R3s ought to be the default on smaller tractors.
I was on the fence about getting turfs versus r14’s. This reinforces my decision on the turfs. Thanks!
Outstanding video - i’ve had both and i agree R3 👍👍🇺🇸
Thanks for the info my friend. I'm looking for a used tractor with grapple for my junk removal business in Mobile Alabama. New subb.
Do you have filled tires running that pressure? I have the r4 tire and running 20psi but they have ballast in them. Does ride rough. Might lower pressure if i can with loaded tires to help improve my ride.
When we bought our John Deere we could pick r3 or 4 we did r4 suck in my opinion I would have rather had r1 or there is a new one that looks like an ATV tire
If you groove the r4 tires it makes them 100% better in snow and on wet grass that's the only downsides people have with the r4s
