    20 odd years ago A few kids at my school had some extreme weather Helly Hansen jackets, Henri Lloyd along with spray way. That recco reflector jogged my memory because I found it odd they wore it to school in Manchester and not in the mountains in Switzerland or where ever.

    Great review, thanks! Have you also tried or looked at the Elevation Infinity?

      Not yet. Looks very similar (same waterproof fabric), though a bit heavier I think. Not sure if the powder skirt is removable like it is with this either? Have you tried it?

      @@OutdoorsMagicTV Haven't tried either, I'm trying to find a store that has these in stock, so that I can try. My main use will be for snowboarding/skiing, though I'll be using it for other activities (so I'm not necessarily interested in that the Elevation is made longer). I'll have a better when/if I can try these on, but stock seems to be an issue. Even HH online no longer has stock of the M or L for the Elevation, so I'm not sure what that's about (aren't these new-ish?).

    gore tex pro is waterproof. unless destroyed, it cannot let water through without a bunch of pressure that isn't realistic. you can make a bag out it and fill it with water and it will not leak. if the outer layer is saturated, it will not let water through. you may feel like you are getting wet, but you aren't. the issue is when the outer layer is saturated, the gore tex stops breathing so moisture can build up from the climate inside the jacket. this is why gore advocates to re apply dwr finishes, but it isn't at all part of keeping water out. the dwr is simply a finish for the non waterproof exterior layer that prevents it from being saturated which reduces breathability, gets cold, and prevents a user from being able to just shake the jacket off to dry it. IF your gore tex whatever is actually letting water through, it is most likely at a damaged or defective seam or from a damaged area of gore tex. i've also 'heard' that the gore tex layer can be messed up from wear and essentially open up areas that may leak and can be re arranged by a light tumble in the dryer. i have no idea if that is true.

    Regarding the durability of the face fabric, is it as tough as the elevation I and II? Those things are bulletproof.

      I'm not familiar with them sorry. I would say it's super durable though! Will

    Does the hood adjust large enough for all sizes of ski helmets? Does the inside dump pocket zipper close?

    • @OutdoorsMagicTV
      @OutdoorsMagicTV  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey - just checked. The hood is just about big enough for an average sized ski/snowboard helmet. As for the pockets, there's a zipped valuables one on one side and then an open dump pocket on the other side - and that one has a little open pocket within it as well. Will

    What is the difference between the Odin Mountain and the Infinity Elevation models? Trying to parse that out and not clear from any reviews.

    • @Jubtion
      @Jubtion Před 3 lety +1

      The elevation is purpose built for skiing, the mountain is an all around mountain use jacket that is more versatile than the elevation. Go see you Helly rep at your local store and they can give you more specifics.

    • @Jubtion
      @Jubtion Před 3 lety

      Things that differ are ski pass pocket location, pocket location, snow skirt removability, neck gator, length of jacket, etc.

    Nikwax just doesn't work for me. Tried almost every product they have, including tech wash. Back to proper chemicals I'm afraid.

    I just got it, but honestly I don't think this jacket quality isn't a $ 700.00 bracket. I still think that Arctery'x Sabre AR is way better quality! Period!

      You've made the same comment in the video review of the Odin 9 World's jacket ("I just got it..."). Which jacket did you actually buy, the Odin Mountain or the Odin 9 World's?
