A Pokemon Y Hardcore Nuzlocke Challenge with ONLY SHINY POKEMON - Can it be done? (No items, No overleveling)
Make sure to let me know what hardcore nuzlocke challenge you want to see in the comments!
RULES:
1) If a Pokemon faints, it's considered dead and can no longer be used.
2) Only the first encounter can be caught on each route.
3) Species Clause; I can reroll an encounter if the first encounter is something already caught.
4) No items in battle (held items are fine).
5) No overleveling the next gym leader's highest Pokemon (leveling up during the fight is allowed).
6) Battle style must always be on 'Set'.

like is there even a real money market for shinies? if not i don't understand the long term point, like i know it's unique and for collectors but like the amount of time required seems absolutely insane. reminds me of having a really rare CS skin except when you're bored of it you can sell it for actual money. even the Pokemon trading cards I get bc again, value. you could argue well you have to pay for a chance at a skin or a rare trading card but when you're an adult time = money anyway lol. I've literally never even seen a shiny in a game before so that's why I'm wondering if there's a real money market for it cus from a really casual numbers crunch for a starter it would take somewhere around 72 hours of constant resetting. it surprises me pokemon ppl can be some of the most hardcore grinders out there rivaling Korean mmo players lmao

@@SDS_524 yeah, thanks. Well, I didn’t go right back to the beginning. I just ran around some routes. Was going to Pokémon Bank all my Pokémon, then start a new play through, but ended up getting distracted by all the BDSP news/ leaks / data mines instead… oops.
One of the most unluckiest things is that I was able to catch 4 shiny Pokémon’s in regular playthroughs but 2 of them were shiny pidgeys…..

I have found 4 shiny geodudes after my first shiny pichu in crystal with a 1/16 chance to be shiny [so not a big brag]... good to know someone has the same luck as me

Honestly watching this filled me with satisfaction because when I first played Pokémon Y, the first encounter I got, that wasn't the guaranteed Pidgey, was a shiny Fletchling and I have great memories of that beautiful bird.
I've got a very similar story, except my first shiny was Mawile (in Y)
I was kind of hype when i saw the run a couple of days ago.

So a nice trick to shiny hunting the gift Kanto Starters in this game is to have a full party you can then refuse the starter until there is a space clear and come back later and hunt it with basically all dialogue gone.
If you look closely at the Kalos Routes you can see intricate details linking it to France, the beautiful Baguette trees in the background, the escargot under a box trap to catch pokemon if you can't afford poke balls and who could forget the posters for Glass Joe's boxing school. Truly a game for the ages. Thank you Papito, for another excellent video

Playing pokemon for over 10 years and my first shiny (besides the red gyarados at lake of rage) is regirock in swsh. Pretty cool but also kind of bitter it took more than 10 years to find a shiny.

I been playing since pokemon platnium and the first ever shiny was a hariyama i found when going through victory road in omega ruby, so i caught it and named it cancer, then traded it for a larvesta named Pork, sadly lost the game

If it makes you feel any better, I've been playing Pokémon for 20 years and I have never, ever gotten a shiny (except for the red Gyarados from the Lake of Rage, of course). I remember trying to get a shiny Charmander via breeding in Soul Silver, doing everything to increase my chances. I spent countless days hatching eggs, but I never got that fucking shiny Charmander. :(
Pfft, at least yours was a legendary. I've been playing pokemon since Red and Blue came out. First shiny I caught (not counting ones given in the story like red gyrados or gifted as mystery gifts) was a Mantike in SwSh.

Prism Tower is obviously based on the Eiffel Tower and is the center of the city surrounded by a loop just like the Arc De Triomphe. Also, the city is divided into districts, just like Paris, which is divided into 20 arrondissements.

My first shiny was a Ralts I chained for in ORAS. It took me like a year to finally encounter it hahaha I can’t imagine trying to do a full run of shinies, I definitely don’t have the patience for it. Yet another great run, Quinn!
I never did any shiny hunting so I never legit caught one until Sword and Shield when I just randomly caught a shiny mantike.
One time, in a nuzlocke, I got 2 random shinies in swsh
Mine was in brilliant diamond and it was a random gel dude after I said if I see one more geodude I will kill it spoiler I didn’t

pro tip don't use repel if you want shinies useless you are only going for a certain shiny and using it in older gens to only get people with a certain level to appear
I tried this very same challenge, with the exception that I could catch ANY shiny because I wanted cool shinies. Caught 3 Bidoof on route 22 before giving up and never made it pass Dendemille because I couldn't stomach another hunt. My respects for pushing through all of that and finishing the challenge.
This guy scares me. If you have the dedication to do this run, you are a true champion.
its a lot easier when running the game at 10x speeds. odds equate to 1/409 when you do that.

My first shiny I'm pretty sure was a Tentacool in Pokémon Sapphire when I was 10 or 11. Ran into it while surfing to get to Mt. Pyre. I caught it, but I'm pretty sure I was confused by it. Don't think I ever evolved it tbh! Missed opportunity 😂

fwiw in kalos route 2 you're guaranteed to catch anything so, not like a pidgey of all things would have given you much trouble, but there you should be fine ^^

I went back to pokemon Y after a couple and walked through the grass where you find ralts and floette, and immediately ran into a shiny ralts. I was almost wept tears of joy at the random shiny that happened to be one of my favorites
This is the game where I found a shiny fletchinder and weedle back to back in the woods at the start, I have never screamed quite that loud before

Check the description. He did change the odds but he never specifies what he changed it to. He buried that disclaimer in the description but doesn't mention it in the comments or in the video and in the video states that the shiny odds are about 1/4000 and never mentions changing it. So he's intentionally misleading people into believing it's full odds and more impressive than it actually is. Very annoying when each time he catches one he's like "that took a couple hours" when it really didn't. I don't know why these people feel the need to clickbait and lie

Miltank is an interesting but nice choice for favorite Pokemon. Mine used to be nidoqueen, not sure what it is now. I did encounter a shiny nidorans f in vc for gsc, but I lost the 3ds.

When I was 9 or 10 I remember finding my first shiny in the pokemon Y safari zone on a regular playthrough just needing a fire type.
I had no idea what it was, but it had cool stars and a weird colour. Now on that save file I have a level 100 shiny Simisear.

I noticed that in the last battle, all your pokemon were level 68 with no Xp progress for that level. Do Rare candies do that?
Also noticed that all of his pokemon doesn't even have a single drop of exp at the start of some battles, especially during gym battles.🤔
Honestly it's a well-known fact that anybody who plays Pokemon uses cheats and rare candies I have honestly never met a single soul who haven't played Pokemon and just uploaded it with all the cheats kind of like Grand Theft Auto
When you showed the shiny tentacool at the start I had a flashback to my first playthrough of y I got a shiny tentacool randomly while on my way to the 4th gym

My first shiny encounter outside of red gyarados happened in Pokémon shield. I was randomly running through the grass in the wild area and ran into a shiny lotad. Not anywhere near my favorite Pokémon but it was so cool to finally be able to say that I have caught a shiny. I ended up really liking the shiny formof ludicolo
My first shiny was a nuzleaf in ultra moon. Found it in ultra space while just looking around for rare Pokémon and was pretty hyped.
Never realized how dangerous that helio was. Then again, I had a gabite so big surprise, wasn’t that tricky

Once I was casually looking for a Trubbish in the lost hotel and a random shiny Electrode showed up. He immediately used self-destruct, love Electrode mechanics
My first non-static shiny was an Audino in Black 2… I didn’t know what shinies were so I ko’d it for exp.
Later in a second playthrough I encountered a shiny Piloswine that ended up ko’ing itself with thrash confusion. In my latest playthrough of White 2 I encountered another shiny Audino, but had just struggled with catching an Eevee and only had a great ball… it broke out.
On the bright side, Sword has been much kinder to me. I’ve managed to use the masuda method to breed myself a shiny Honedge, Litwick, Venipede, and Dhelmise, and in fact I encountered a second shiny Dhelmise in a raid only two days after hatching one! Which I personally think is an omen considering Dhelmise is my favorite Pokémon, the only shiny I caught in gen 7, and the first raid opponent that gave me a bottle cap. Also in raids were a shiny Dreepy, Avalugg, Dottler, Magneton, and some raid event shinies like magikarp and… uhhh the ice cube penguin I forgot the name and am too tired to look it up.
Currently I’m trying to shiny hunt Blacephalon in the Crown Tundra because heehoo sparkly bowling alley carpet arsonist clown.
With all this mentioning of "milkies" and "girth" I chose 1 hell of a video to watch out loud in my works break room lol
