Nakhind Ridge Trek | How to reach Nakhind | Trek near Mumbai and Pune | Vangani | Matheran

'Nakhind' has a natural rock peak with a cavity in it at the top which is called 'Nedhe' or 'Nosehole' or 'Needle hole' formed by natural erosion. Why is it called as Nakhind ? Cause the hill has seems itself like a Human Nose. Nakhind is noted for its gentle slope and dense forest route. The top is a narrow forested ridge, running in the north-south direction. From one side of Nakhind we can see Chanderi Fort, MalangGad, Tahuli, Mhaismal, Kalavantin Durg, Prabalgad, Matheran, Irshalgad.This gentle hill is excellent for relaxed, easy walks and nature lovers.

Time: 3-4 hour one way
Best time to Visit: From Late monsoon to February
Difficulty: Moderate
Endurance: Requires good endurance
Base village: Bedisgaon (road head) and Vaghini chi wadi
How to reach Nakhind Ridge by Train (public transport) :
Take a local train towards Karjat/Khopoli and get down at Vangani station. From Vangani station, you get a rickshaw to Bedisgaon. Bedisgaon is the base village (road head). From bedisgaon there is a prominent trail to Vaghini chi wadi.

Have been to Nakhind yesterday (June 2024). If you are a beginner, this is not for you. This will check your endurance because the ascends are too many. Flatbeds are very less. Also get a good grip shoe as without rains also we were finding it difficult even without rains.
